Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 200: Chapter 118: Repaying Kindness with Expectation

”What’s going on? Have you confirmed with people in the investment circle?” Director Wu from the Spencer Group’s Investment Department asked nervously, messaging Vice President Lei, who’s in charge of investments in the group.

If it’s true, this problem is too big for someone like him, just a department director, to handle.

Secretary A: ”We’re confirming. I’ve also sent a private message to this suspected personal Weibo account of Kenneth Osborne, hoping he will reply.”

Secretary B: ”Director Wu, I just contacted several major investment banks, and they said that account is indeed the official Weibo of SSA Private Equity Fund.”

Secretary C: ”Director Wu, the PR department just confirmed that Weibo account does belong to Kenneth Osborne and is temporarily being used as his company ’AI Vision Promise’s official Weibo.”

Director Wu slumped into his chair, grabbed a tissue, trembling as he wiped the sweat from his forehead, muttering, ”...It’s really that big? Why would even SSA Private Equity Fund approach him?!”

At this moment, Summer Spencer was once again throwing a tantrum in the northern headquarters of the Spencer Group’s PR department.

”That Kenneth Osborne did it on purpose!”

”He just rejected our offer, and now he accepts SSA’s investment!—Let’s see just what he’s capable of!”

Summer Spencer’s most trusted Secretary Han glanced at her and softly said, ”Director Spencer, this matter indeed feels uncomfortable, but now’s not the time to lose your temper. You should quickly write a memorandum to the board, detailing the reasons, to avoid being held accountable by senior management later...”

”This issue isn’t entirely our negligence. At its root, the issue is the CEO’s excessive restrictions on our HR department. We missed this opportunity because even the smallest matters need his approval...”

The coffee cup in Summer Spencer’s hand hadn’t hit the floor yet, as she stood in the middle of the office gripping the cup, thoughtfully looking at the hardwood floor, her eyes shifted, ”Yeah, what you said makes sense.”

After saying this, she placed the coffee cup back on her desk, and said, ”Get someone to tidy up, I need to write a memorandum to the board.”

Secretary Han immediately got someone to tidy up Summer Spencer’s office, and Summer Spencer opened her computer, starting to write an email to the board.

”Dear Board Members,

I am writing this email to inform you of an unfortunate matter.

The company ’AI Vision Promise,’ which has just received its first investment from SSA Private Equity Fund, was founded by Kenneth Osborne, the recent graduate we were keenly pursuing from Metropolitan North University.

Not only is he academically excellent, having completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science in just four years, but he also studied under the renowned Professor Caleb Hunt in the field of computer science and achieved multiple patented research results.

Our HR department did everything possible to recruit him for our group’s newly established AI company.

We offered the following conditions:

1. Twenty percent of the original shares of the new company, plus shares from the Spencer Group, all at executive level, with half immediately vesting.

2. The initially proposed annual salary of one million was doubled, with immediate resolution of residence permits, plus a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment in a top school district in Capital City.

Such generous terms have never been offered before in the history of our group.

Regrettably, they still did not convince Kenneth Osborne, who refused our proposal. (Audio recording attached).

What’s more regrettable is that we have just received news that SSA Private Equity Fund has reached an investment agreement with Kenneth Osborne’s personal company ’AI Vision Promise,’ preventing us from acquiring a talent who could have brought significant profits to our group.

In conclusion, we believe the reason for missing this opportunity is the chief operating officer’s new initiatives, which impose too many restrictions on the HR department with minimal empowerment.

I hope the board can agree to give our HR department greater authority, allowing us more initiative and autonomy in recruiting talent for the group, so that such regrettable situations won’t happen again.

After finishing the email, Summer Spencer reviewed it again, making sure there were no issues before clicking the ”send” button.

The board of Spencer Group consists of fifteen members, including Chairman Cameron Spencer.

However, Cameron Spencer has been recuperating recently and doesn’t check emails often.

His secretary filters emails for him, only forwarding the most important ones to him.

Summer Spencer’s email quickly became classified as one of the most important emails, and was delivered to Cameron Spencer.
