Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 155: Chapter 96: Brother Yuan’s Schemes

Lawrence Winters was pretty excited, and just replied with a couple of ”mm-hm” to show she heard him. She slung her little backpack over her shoulder, closed the door casually, and left.

Kenneth Osborne knew she was the type to ”take wind for rain,” so he was quite aware she hadn’t taken his words to heart.

That little money grubber just didn’t have anyone to ”deeply” roast her, which was driving her nuts.

He quickly packed up his computer, threw on a jacket, pocketed his phone, and headed out.

Crazy Chick and Joyce Shaw were in the prime of their romance and had already rented a small apartment near campus to officially live together.

Now Kenneth Osborne had a dorm room all to himself, which was quite convenient.

He hopped on his bicycle and rode like the wind, arriving at Lawrence Winters’ dorm building in less than five minutes.

Surprisingly, Lawrence Winters was already waiting at the building’s entrance.

When she saw Kenneth Osborne’s dashing figure riding up the little path on his bike, Lawrence Winters ran up with a smile.

The nearby students were dumbfounded.

One by one, campus updates flooded the forum.

Now, Lawrence Winters was sitting on the back seat of Kenneth Osborne’s bicycle, grinning and urging him to ride faster: ”I’m starving!”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t say anything, but a slight smile appeared on his lips, and his delicate phoenix eyes gleamed more brightly than they had in the past two weeks.

He soon arrived at the Cantonese restaurant by East Gate, parked his bike in the bike shed beside the door, took Lawrence Winters by the hand, and entered the restaurant, asking for a small private room.

Since it wasn’t dinner time yet, there weren’t many people, so they didn’t need to book a place.

Inside that small private room, Kenneth Osborne ordered some familiar dishes: steamed spareribs with black bean sauce, salted fish, and chicken eggplant casserole, poached shrimp, and Hakka stuffed tofu. They had Chaoshan claypot porridge as the main dish and added a bird’s nest with coconut milk and rock sugar for dessert.

Lawrence Winters perked up her ears to listen to his ordering. Seeing he was almost done without ordering any appetizers, she quickly said: ”Add an order of shrimp dumplings and turnip cake!”

Kenneth Osborne nodded and told the waiter: ”Add the two appetizers she mentioned. Make sure they come out first.”

After the waiter left, Kenneth Osborne poured Lawrence Winters a cup of chrysanthemum tea and smiled, asking her: ”You’re eating dinner so early now?”

”It’s just past four o’clock. Two weeks ago, you were still eating dinner at five thirty.”

Lawrence Winters dipped her chopsticks into the hot water, looking a bit deflated as she said: ”Actually, it’s not certain. I just eat whenever I’m hungry, not caring about the time.”

Her expression was somewhat wilting, like a dehydrated flower, with even the leaves drooping tiredly.

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Before they exchanged many words, the waiter brought in a basket of shrimp dumplings and a basket of turnip cake.

The baskets were those typical small cane steamers from Cantonese dim sum, with each basket holding only two shrimp dumplings and four slices of turnip cake.

The turnip cake was golden, soft, and sticky, incredibly tasty.

Lawrence Winters picked up a slice of turnip cake, took a bite, and then had a sip of chrysanthemum tea, finally looking rejuvenated like a flower after watering.

She put down her teacup and said to Kenneth Osborne: ”Oh man, eating some turnip really does smooth things out, or I’d die of frustration.”

Kenneth Osborne wasn’t interested in the shrimp dumplings or turnip cake, but if he didn’t eat them, Lawrence Winters would finish them all, and with the other dishes and porridge he ordered, she’d surely stuff herself.

Hence, he still transferred one shrimp dumpling and two slices of turnip cake into his bowl.

Lawrence Winters noticed this, and although she didn’t speak, her gaze contained a bit of repressed resentment.

Kenneth Osborne pretended not to see, casually biting into a shrimp dumpling and extracting the shrimp inside to eat, before asking her: ”What’s the matter? Who could have upset our Little Heavenly Master?”

”It’s not about me.” Lawrence Winters shook her head slightly. ”It’s about that Blake Leaf from your department, the same hometown as Sis Three Billion.”

”Him? I heard he took a leave and will be back on the weekend.” Kenneth Osborne paused, his eyes inadvertently darting over Lawrence Winters’ face.

Seeing her full of gossip with no excess emotion, the corner of his lips curled slightly.

”Why, are you very concerned about him?”

Lawrence Winters shook her head, put down her chopsticks, propped her cheeks with both hands, and looked at Kenneth Osborne: ”It’s not concern, just sympathy. His life, you know, isn’t really that great.”

Her eyes sparkled, and her face was clearly written with ”ask me! hurry, ask me!”

Kenneth Osborne, obliging her, chuckled and asked: ”Oh, why isn’t it great?”
