Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 180: Chapter 109: I’ll Share Half My Money With You (Third Update)

Kenneth Osborne looked at her lazy demeanor and couldn’t help but pinch her cheek, saying, ”Stop talking about me. How about you? Where do you plan to go? That Foster Consortium seems to be quite sincere.”

Lawrence Winters didn’t take the Foster Consortium’s tweet seriously at all.

She exclaimed, ”When the deities fight, they use us little folks as pawns. Brother Ken, you can’t be serious, right?”

Kenneth unexpectedly curled his lips, ”So you knew all along?”

”Pfft, how could I not know? I’ve been traveling around since I was a kid with my uncle. If I couldn’t spot these little tricks, my uncle wouldn’t have chosen me as his successor.” Lawrence tapped her fingers lightly on the table, a confident smile on her lips, thoroughly charming.

”Does your uncle really want you to inherit his mantle?” Kenneth felt a bit worried, ”... Can a Heavenly Master get married and have children?”

”Oh, I’d like to... but my uncle won’t allow it...” At this point, Lawrence felt a bit crestfallen.

”What do you want?” Kenneth pretended not to admit he was getting nervous.

”I want to be like my uncle, not get married or have children... but my uncle wouldn’t give me that privilege as my master.” Lawrence shook her head with regret.

”Then you should listen to your uncle.” Kenneth breathed a sigh of relief, taking a sip from Lawrence’s bottled water, saying, ”They’re always looking out for you.”

”Honestly, I really don’t care at all about getting married or having children.” Lawrence intertwined her fingers, resting her elbows on the table, and glancing sideways at Kenneth, she laughed, ”Brother Ken, when you have kids, I want to be their godmother! — I want to pass my skills to your child, hahaha... My uncle would definitely be livid! He still thinks my future kid should definitely have the Winters surname to continue the Winters Family line... hahaha, is he crazy or what...”

Kenneth’s eye twitched, thinking that she’s the one who’s crazy...

But he couldn’t say that out loud, as saying so would surely make Lawrence flip out.

He waited quietly for Lawrence to finish laughing before casually asking, ”...Your uncle really doesn’t plan to marry or have kids? Actually, you don’t need to get married to have children...”

”My uncle’s no spring chicken anymore, and hauling me around like baggage, what good woman would want to marry him?” Lawrence shrugged dismissively, ”I promised to take care of my uncle, so he has no motivation to marry and have kids.”

”Is that how you use the term ’baggage’?” Kenneth couldn’t help but knock her on the head, ”Besides, Uncle Zhang isn’t old; he’s only in his forties and many men at that age are starting second marriages and having children.”

Lawrence’s smile faded, sighing, ”You see, you know men in their forties are going for second marriages and having kids... So why should young women set themselves up for disappointment by marrying and having kids with a man?”

”Women in their forties end up getting divorced, watching their men find young girls who could be their daughters for second marriages and kids. But when women in their forties remarry, they’re stuck finding men in their sixties or older.”

Lawrence shook her head, pouting angrily, ”I don’t want to be that foolish.”

Kenneth: ”...”

Is it still possible for him to slap himself a few times now?

Why did he blurt out all that nonsense?

It’s all because of that Blake Leaf guy’s influence.

Kenneth had to quickly remedy the situation, ”... Actually, I’m talking about a tiny minority of men. The vast majority of men, after getting married, are committed to their families.”

Lawrence laughed, ”I’ve seen the data, and the infidelity rate among married men is 66%. — Is that what you call a tiny minority? I’m pretty good at math, thanks.”

Kenneth: ”...”

”Where did you see this data? In fact, the infidelity rate among married women isn’t much lower than that.” Kenneth couldn’t help but rebut.

Lawrence nodded emphatically, laughing, ”Exactly. Brother Ken, you finally agree with me on this. So why should we get married?”

”Turning good men and women into husbands and wives—what kind of grudge justifies that?”

Kenneth looked at her and thought Lawrence the Little Heavenly Master really had a knack for it. With a slight smile, he crossed his arms over his chest, saying, ”Your brainwashing skills are top-notch, I almost believed you...”

”Be honest, drop the ’almost,’ and courageously face your true self!” Lawrence teased as she grabbed Kenneth’s hand, raising it to her face.

Just then, the door to Kenneth’s dorm opened again, and Joyce Shaw burst in, shouting, ”Ken! Did you really turn down the offer?!”

Raising her head, she saw Lawrence holding Kenneth’s hand as if she was confessing.
