Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 162: Chapter 99: Can’t Stop My Wild Imagination (Second Update)

”It’s quite good. Tonight, I’m going out for dinner with Kenneth. Kenneth even practiced with me earlier and praised me!”

”...Kenneth Osborne? Are you having dinner with him? Just the two of you, or are there other classmates joining?” Gabrielle asked casually, but she was actually a bit anxious.

”Of course, it’s just us two. Kenneth is really nice; he joins me for morning exercises, chats with me regularly, and recently has been helping me practice.” Lawrence Winters, having just reconciled with Kenneth Osborne, felt delightful inside.

”...Is that so?” Gabrielle relaxed, hinting, ”Lawrence, you’re not that young anymore, have you considered getting a boyfriend?”

”With so many people at your school, is anyone pursuing you?”

Lawrence furrowed his brows, ”Mom, why are you asking the same questions as Kenneth?”

”Oh? Does Kenneth have feelings for you?” Gabrielle became excited, as she was quite content with Kenneth Osborne as a son-in-law, given their familiarity.

Her daughter ought to find a man they know well, otherwise, the future would be uncertain.

Lawrence raised an eyebrow, looking incredulous, ”Mom! What are you talking about? Kenneth is my best friend and confidant; how could he have feelings for me?”

While speaking, he gestured as if wielding a sword, ”Even if he had feelings for me, I’d have to cut them off!”

Gabrielle froze, ”...Girl, are you out of your mind? If someone has feelings for you, why would you cut them off?”

”Because boyfriends and girlfriends always break up, and even marriages end in divorce. Only friendship and family are eternal. I honestly wish Kenneth were my actual brother.”

”What nonsense!” Nick Zeller didn’t wait for Gabrielle to explode; he burst out himself, ”Three days without discipline, and you’re tearing up the roof! How can you say such things?!”

”Uncle, isn’t that what you said? When I went with you to check feng shui and saw all those tragic love affairs, you said thankfully the clan decree allows us to officially not date or marry!”

”Uncle, you’re my master too; can you give me the same decree?” Lawrence became excited, ”I also don’t want to date or marry! I want to make money!”

”Scram, scram! When did I ever say such nonsense?” Nick glared at her, warning her with a throat-slashing gesture to not speak nonsense.

Seeing Gabrielle’s expression change, Lawrence quickly corrected himself, ”Alright, alright, I was just babbling, I just feel that I’m still young and temporarily don’t want a boyfriend to tie me down.”

”Oh, you guys don’t know, our dorm’s crazy roommate ever since she met her online boyfriend in person, she’s only got him in her heart and doesn’t care about her roommates at all...” she said sourly, feeling a little uneasy inside.

At this point, Gabrielle fully understood.

She felt a bit helpless and sternly told Lawrence, ”That’s normal. Having a boyfriend, eventually marrying and having kids, that’s family. What are you? You’ve only lived together for a few days, not even three months, and you’re talking about roommate friendship. I’m telling you, relationships develop over time. Without the accumulation of time, any relationship won’t last.”

This struck a chord with Lawrence, who nodded repeatedly, ”Exactly, exactly, like me and Kenneth, our revolutionary friendship dates back to when I first saw him at three...when I tricked him into buying ice cream for a dollar... hahahaha...”

Gabrielle: ”...”

She wasn’t angry with Lawrence anymore, but calmly looked back at Nick Zeller.

Nick immediately felt uneasy, clutching his Pu-erh tea, wanting to escape.

Gabrielle, without turning her head, told Lawrence on the phone, ”It’s getting late, you should sleep.” Then she turned off the phone.

Nick immediately said, ”Sis, it’s getting late, I’m going to rest too.”

”Brother, stay.” Gabrielle said mildly infuriated, ”Now you know why I insist Lawrence should spend some time living with people her own age?”

”Following you, she prematurely encounters the harsh reality of society, though she might be more adept socially than her peers, her personal emotions have also embarked on a path that ends almost before it begins.”

”I knew it; encountering reality too early or too late is not good.”

”She’s extremely distrustful of emotions and quite pessimistic.” Gabrielle stood up with her arms folded, pacing in the room with a furrowed brow, ”What can we do to unlock her heart and show her that everyone’s emotions are different?”

Nick was silent for a moment, then said, ”Such things, neither of us can tell her.”

”...That’s true. I’m not a good example either.” Gabrielle smiled wryly, ”But, back then I was happy too...”

”Seeing through emotions after having experienced them, and automatically giving up without trying, are two different things.” Gabrielle looked at Nick expectantly and said, ”Brother, do you have any way to make Lawrence willing to try a relationship? With someone like Kenneth Osborne.”

Nick flipped his sleeves and sneered, ”Finding someone like Kenneth Osborne? Do you think people like Kenneth Osborne are everywhere?!”

”Ah...Brother, I misspoke...someone like Kenneth is indeed one in a thousand...” Gabrielle covered her mouth with a laugh, feeling much better, ”In the future, let’s say more nice things about Kenneth in front of Lawrence, and hint a little.”

”We can hint, but people like Kenneth, no matter where he is, he is always the focus of the crowd. I’m afraid before Lawrence catches on, Kenneth will be snatched away...” Nick had seen countless things, much more than Gabrielle and Lawrence.

Lawrence accompanied him on feng shui inspections but due to her young age, there were times when certain occasions were not convenient to bring her.

Gabrielle thought for a moment and spread her hands, saying, ”Alright then, let’s leave it to fate.”

”Don’t worry, I’ve read Lawrence’s fortune, and her fate is excellent, luck incomparable, always able to turn disaster into good, and misfortune into fortune!”
