Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1641: Chapter 1642: Waiting for a Chance to Kidnap An Jing

Both younger brothers were settled, and Xiao Changyi and An Jing had no more concerns. Now, apart from looking after their three little babies, they were busy with the preparations for their upcoming wedding on March 14th.

However, before Xiao Changyi and An Jing’s wedding took place, in the Dongqing Kingdom’s Imperial Palace, Dongfang Tianyang received news from his subordinates that the assassination attempt on Su Chengyu had failed.

”Such a great opportunity, and yet you couldn’t kill him! Useless! All useless!” Dongfang Tianyang instantly erupted in anger, rising from his seat.

The eunuch, palace maid, and guards immediately knelt down.

The subordinate who reported the news was not only kneeling but also trembling, fearing that Dongfang Tianyang would blame him.

But there were some things that he had to say. The subordinate continued, ”Emperor, Xiyun will hold a grand ceremony to bestow the title of Queen on March 14th, officially making An Jing the Queen of Xiyun. The Imperial Capital is now under tighter security by the day. At present, there’s no chance for us to find another good opportunity to assassinate Su Chengyu. We’ll have to wait until after the Queen’s ceremony, when the security might loosen a little, and then look for another chance to strike.”

Upon hearing An Jing’s name, Dongfang Tianyang’s eyes were instantly filled with jealousy. ”Su Chengyu must be killed, and Xiao Changyi must be killed too. We’ll take them down one by one. It doesn’t matter who dies first; either one will throw Xiyun into chaos.”

Relations between Dongqing and Xiyun were no longer amicable, and the two countries were bound to go to war sooner or later. He intended to strike first and gain the upper hand.

Once Xiyun was in chaos, they would be too preoccupied to battle with Dongqing, allowing Dongqing to remain carefree for a longer time.

”As for An Jing...” After a pause, Dongfang Tianyang continued, ”Pass my command to seize An Jing at the opportune moment and bring her to me!”

Though the subordinate didn’t understand why Dongfang Tianyang wanted to capture An Jing, he immediately obeyed, ”Yes, Emperor!”

Dongfang Tianyang couldn’t help but emphasize, ”Make sure not to harm her. If any of you hurt a single hair on her head, I’ll take your lives.”

”Yes!” The subordinate immediately responded, gaining some understanding of why Dongfang Tianyang wanted them to capture An Jing. Even though he had some understanding, he showed no sign of it.

Once the subordinate left, Dongfang Tianyang waved away those serving in the room.

After everyone had left and he was the only one remaining in the room, he picked up the scroll placed beside him and slowly unrolled it.

As the scroll unfurled, a painting was revealed before his eyes.

The painting depicted a moment when a woman was taming a white wild horse. The woman was dressed in red, full of heroic spirit, radiant and exceedingly dazzling, making it hard for one to look away.

Anyone familiar with the woman in the painting could see at a glance that this woman was An Jing.

Since that day when Dongfang Tianyang saw An Jing tame the horse, he had developed feelings for her. Originally, his feelings weren’t deep, but as time passed, he found himself thinking about her more and more, and his feelings for An Jing deepened.

Now, in his eyes, An Jing was the most beautiful, no woman could compare to her.

The painting in his hand was his own creation. The heroic bearing of An Jing taming the horse was deeply engraved in his mind. Even though he hadn’t painted it immediately back then and only began after returning to his country, he still captured An Jing’s demeanor perfectly while taming the horse, without any deviation.

Gazing longingly at the portrait, Dongfang Tianyang murmured softly, ”Jing Er, when you come, I’ll treat you well.”

...

An Jing had no idea that Dongfang Tianyang was fixated on her. She only knew that she had just sneezed.
