Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1632: Chapter 1633: Protect the Emperor!

March 2nd, Xiyun Imperial Family Hunting Grounds.

Every year, the spring hunt is held on this day.

The person who hunts the most will be heavily rewarded, not only have the nobles and civil and military officials come, but some have brought their sons along. Firstly, so their sons can show themselves in front of Su Chengyu and Xiao Changyi, the Emperor and the King; secondly, they hope their sons can take the lead, hunt a lot, and receive those heavy rewards.

The rewards are not necessarily just material things. Sometimes, when the Emperor is pleased, allowing the person who takes the lead to become a General is also very possible.

As soon as the hunt began, Xiao Changyi and Su Chengyu, the King and the Emperor, rushed out on horseback.

The two were not in a hurry to hunt, even slowing down their horses, with both horses walking side by side.

A lot of guards followed them in action.

Others went off to hunt.

”Brother Yi, what do you plan to hunt?” Su Chengyu asked with a smile.

Xiao Changyi first glanced around before calmly saying, ”Jing’er and the others want me to hunt a deer to bring back; they said they want to eat venison.”

”Just a deer? Not going to hunt something else?”

Xiao Changyi said nothing.

Seeing Xiao Changyi like this, Su Chengyu knew that Xiao Changyi truly only intended to hunt one deer. He also glanced around before lowering his voice to a volume only Xiao Changyi could hear and asked, ”Brother Yi, if I hunt a rabbit, will people laugh at me?”

Xiao Changyi immediately looked at Su Chengyu with extreme disdain.

Su Chengyu awkwardly touched his nose. His archery was not good, and he was actually worried that he might not even catch a rabbit.

In previous hunts, he would sit and watch others hunt. Today he joined on horseback, seeing that his Brother Yi was here, intending to see if he could hunt something.

Xiao Changyi also knew Su Chengyu was too busy and didn’t have much time to practice horseback archery, so he withdrew his disdainful gaze and said indifferently, ”Talk about it once you’ve hunted something.”

He suspected his brother wouldn’t even catch a rabbit.

Hearing Xiao Changyi’s words, Su Chengyu felt even more embarrassed. He suspected the same.

Spotting a deer in the distance, Xiao Changyi immediately parted ways with Su Chengyu, squeezing the horse’s sides, he chased after the deer.

Su Chengyu didn’t follow Xiao Changyi, but instead glanced around again to see if any rabbits or easy-to-shoot animals appeared.

Seeing none, he rode quietly ahead, searching all the way.

While riding, he didn’t see rabbits but did spot a white fox. The fox was so white that as soon as Su Chengyu saw it, he rode towards it.

The fox was startled and ran even faster.

Su Chengyu also quickened his pursuit.

The guards rode behind Su Chengyu.

Su Chengyu, while riding, shot arrows at the fox, missing several times. He thought the distance was still too far, so he decided to wait until he got closer to shoot again.

But before he got close to the fox, a group of assassins appeared around him, all dressed in black and masked, wielding swords and rushing towards him.

”Protect the Emperor! Protect him!” The guards were shocked and quickly surrounded Su Chengyu.

Su Chengyu was very panicked.

They were in a secluded place, and apart from these dozen guards, no one else could protect him.

The assassins were quite skillful, but the guards protecting Su Chengyu were not bad either.

”Emperor, go quickly!” The guards broke a path of blood, urging Su Chengyu to ride away quickly.

Su Chengyu wasted no time, riding off immediately.
