Chapter 1622: Chapter 1623: The Baby Is Coming!

Regarding Gong Juechen’s behavior of always freeloading meals, at first, Xiao Changyi and An Jing were quite annoyed. It wasn’t that the household lacked this one meal from Gong Juechen, but that he really had a very irritating mouth—they were annoyed by Gong Juechen’s sharp tongue.

Later, as their friendship with Gong Juechen deepened, they considered Gong Juechen a friend, and even if he was foul-mouthed, they tolerated it.

And now, they are very welcoming of Gong Juechen always coming to their place to freeload. It’s not because Ye Zhi married Gong Juechen, but because they’ve accepted Gong Juechen as a friend, and even more so as a younger brother.

Their adoptive father is Su Haoyu. They are the eldest brother and sister-in-law, and since their adoptive father has left his last wishes, Gong Juechen, Su Chengyu, Su Chengyuan, Gong Juese, and other brothers and sisters are their responsibility.

So, as soon as Gong Juechen helped Ye Zhi inside, An Jing smiled and quickly asked the maidservant to prepare two more sets of utensils.

Gong Juechen carefully helped Ye Zhi sit down by the dining table, and instead of immediately sitting next to her, he first served Ye Zhi a bowl of porridge, peeled two eggs for her, and placed some vegetables and fruits on an empty plate in front of Ye Zhi before he sat down.

Ye Zhi only ate one and a half eggs; she didn’t want the remaining half, but instead of throwing it away, she just naturally put it into Gong Juechen’s porridge and let him eat it, which he did without any complaint.

After finishing the eggs, Ye Zhi started to drink her porridge. As she drank, she asked An Jing, ”Boss, you should be giving birth soon, right? Seeing how big your belly is, it makes me kind of scared. Luckily, my belly won’t get as big as yours.”

An Jing caressed her big belly and said with a smile, ”Didn’t your husband say I should be giving birth this month? It should be soon.”

Today is already September 15th.

Once she finished eating, An Jing felt tired of sitting, so she asked Xiao Changyi to help her get up and take a walk.

Xiao Changyi immediately carefully helped her take small steps around the table.

Ye Zhi, Gong Juechen, and the four children continued sitting at the table having breakfast.

An Jing only walked two slow circles around the table before she felt tired again and asked Xiao Changyi to help her lie down on the bed in the inner room. Her belly was just too big and heavy; lying down was more comfortable than sitting.

”Okay.” Xiao Changyi was distressed by how hard his wife was working, so he naturally agreed. He carefully helped An Jing turn around and go back to the inner room.

But just as An Jing lifted her foot to cross the threshold of the inner room, she suddenly felt a pain in her belly, cold sweat beading rapidly on her forehead, her face contorted in pain: ”Husband, it hurts... my belly hurts...”

Xiao Changyi looked down and saw that An Jing’s water had broken. Shocked, he quickly carried her horizontally, rushing to lay her on the bed, yelling loudly for help: ”Meng Zhuqing, call the midwife quickly!”

Meng Zhuqing was in the courtyard and, upon hearing this, knew that An Jing was going into labor, so he quickly called in the midwives already in the house, along with hot water and other necessities, which were brought into the inner room with the midwives.

Knowing that An Jing could give birth at any time this month, the midwives and everything needed had been prepared long ago, ready to assist An Jing with childbirth at any moment.

”Mom’s going to have the baby!” The four children were very excited and stopped eating breakfast, wanting to go into the inner room, but Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing stopped them at the door, and the midwives closed the inner room door from the inside.

Originally, the midwives wanted to ask Xiao Changyi to leave the inner room. Traditionally, men shouldn’t be in the delivery room, but Xiao Changyi had already communicated with them earlier that he would stay with An Jing in the delivery room, so even though the midwives disagreed internally, they allowed Xiao Changyi to stay in the delivery room.
