Chapter 1628: Chapter 1629: His Great Sacrifice

Su Chengyu said, ”I am not very clear about this either, but Qi Tengfei said it might be because Dongqing doesn’t have enough money for the Slayer Tower to continue assisting Dongqing. The Slayer Tower can only help Dongqing capture half of Beihe at most.”

Considering that the Slayer Tower is a killer organization, and that they are helping to capture a country, the price must be astronomical. An Jing said, ”That’s possible.”

Su Chengjin continued, ”Dongqing is much smaller than our Xiyun, and its military strength is naturally not as good as ours. Now that they don’t have the help of the Slayer Tower and see that they can’t capture the cities, of course, they will retreat.”

”What about the seven Beihe cities occupied by Dongqing? Did Dongqing withdraw its troops from those seven cities as well?”

”How could there be such a good thing? Since Dongqing has captured them, they are naturally not going to give them up easily. Dongqing is retreating now but is no longer advancing. Those seven cities are still in Dongqing’s hands.”

An Jing nodded, ”That’s true.” Paused, ”Should we take back those seven cities?”

Su Chengyu immediately said, ”Of course we should take them back! Most of the common people in those seven cities have fled. If we don’t take them back, they will lose their roots. As the saying goes, fallen leaves return to their roots, that is their hometown. We must reclaim these seven cities so they can return home. Moreover, the Emperor of Beihe has already submitted to our Xiyun with his people, so everything in Beihe is ours. How can we let Dongqing occupy Xiyun’s property?”

”It’s just that,” Su Chengyu continued, ”the previous battle with Chilin drained too much. Now Xiyun is not suitable for prolonged warfare. It’s better to continue recuperating. I was thinking, let’s recuperate for another year or two, then fight Dongqing again to reclaim those seven cities.”

An Jing also knew that Xiyun wasn’t suitable for long-term warfare right now, so he nodded, agreeing with Su Chengyu’s idea.

”Sigh,” suddenly, Su Chengyu sighed, ”I originally thought we could maintain long-term friendship with Dongqing, now... sigh...” He sighed again.

Now that he has taken over Beihe, Beihe has become part of Xiyun. Dongqing was at war with Beihe, which actually means it was at war with Xiyun. And they truly did fight once. Now Dongqing has retreated, but the relationship between Xiyun and Dongqing is ruined.

And in the future, Xiyun and Dongqing are bound to fight again.

An Jing said, ”That Emperor of Dongqing actually spent money to hire the Slayer Tower for help, showing his character isn’t very good. Their previous friendship with our Xiyun might have been just a facade, secretly, who knows how they were plotting against us Xiyun.”

”Sister-in-law is absolutely right.” Su Chengyu immediately stopped sighing.

An Jing thought for a moment, then said, ”The people of Beihe have all submitted to Xiyun, which means they are the citizens of Xiyun now. Beihe is in chaos, you should send some people to manage it, and by the way, temporarily settle those displaced people. Once we reclaim those seven cities, let them return to their hometown.”

Su Chengyu said, ”I have already sent people there. By the way, the imperial family of Beihe has already set out for Xiyun. I plan to confer the Emperor of Beihe the title of Prince, with the title of King of Beihe. What do Brother Yi’s sister-in-law think?”

”Very good.” An Jing sincerely felt it was a good idea. ”I see that the Emperor of Beihe is a sincere person, he loves his people as his own children like you do. For the sake of his people living well, he actually came to surrender to us, sacrificing greatly. In the future, we in Xiyun must treat him well.”

”Sister-in-law, rest assured, I understand.”
