Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1612: Chapter 1613: A Weight Lifted Off the Heart

Upon hearing this, Meng Zhuqing’s eyes turned even redder, and with trembling lips, he finally managed to speak after a while: ”Thank you, Master.” He paused, ”Sorry to trouble you, Master.”

In the past, An Jing had thought of asking Meng Zhuqing not to call Xiao Changyi ”Master,” but Meng Zhuqing was very adamant about this.

He even said if he didn’t call him ”Master,” he would call him ”Owner.”

Compared to ”Owner,” An Jing also thought ”Master” was slightly better.

Now that Meng Zhuqing still called Xiao Changyi ”Master,” An Jing did not try to correct him. After all, a correction would have been futile; Meng Zhuqing would not change his way of addressing. So, she just smiled and said, ”What trouble? We are all family.”

...

On the sixth day of the sixth month, the children’s birthday banquet and the recognition banquet were held together.

Even Su Chengyu, the Emperor himself, came to attend.

In fact, Su Chengyu internally disagreed with the four children acknowledging Meng Zhuqing and Tobanya as surrogate parents. In history, no royalty had acknowledged others as surrogate parents. On the contrary, it was only rare to see royalty adopting others as surrogate sons or daughters.

However, he cherished the four children very much. If they wanted to acknowledge them, they could. Plus, since Brother Yi’s sister-in-law also approved, Su Chengyu did not object and attended the birthday banquet and recognition banquet.

The birthday banquet and recognition banquet were not grand, more like a family gathering, small, with only particularly close family and friends attending.

Su Chengyu was one of them, as were Li Wuyu, Wang Youbao, Ye Zhi, and Gong Juechen, of course.

When Su Chengyu and Gong Juechen met, each had his own thoughts, and from beginning to end, they did not exchange a single word.

Since acknowledging the four children as surrogate sons, Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing had become even more fond of the four children, wishing to give them all the best things they had, fearing they would fall if held in their hands, or melt if held in their mouths.

The four children kowtowed to Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing, and after receiving the recognition gifts from Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing, they officially became Tobanya and Meng Zhuqing’s surrogate sons.

Seeing all this, An Jing was gratified to have one less worry.

...

When the children finally turned seven on the sixth day of the sixth month, An Jing’s belly grew even larger, making her body quite heavy. Xiao Changyi dared not leave An Jing’s side, fearing something might happen to her.

However, just after the children’s seventh birthday, An Jing and Xiao Changyi learned that Dongqing Kingdom and Beihe Kingdom had gone to war.

However, Dongqing and Beihe had long-standing frictions, so An Jing and Xiao Changyi were not surprised that the two countries were now at war.

What surprised An Jing and Xiao Changyi was that it was actually Dongfang Tianyang, the Crown Prince, who personally led the troops to fight against Beihe.

It was indeed rare to send the Crown Prince to the battlefield this soon after the war began.

...

Three months passed in the blink of an eye.

This day, the sixth day of the ninth month, An Jing was about eight months pregnant, and her belly was extremely large. Nowadays, An Jing would get tired just by walking a few steps, sometimes even unable to get up, relying on Xiao Changyi’s support.

Her waist couldn’t bend at all anymore.

The expected due date was supposed to be this month; not only was Xiao Changyi particularly nervous, but An Jing herself was also very anxious.

Initially, the four children were somewhat frightened by An Jing’s big belly, fearing it might burst. They cried quite a bit out of fear before An Jing and Xiao Changyi spent a long time comforting them. Only then did they stop crying and accept An Jing’s large belly.

Now all the four children wanted was to touch An Jing’s belly, but unfortunately, their father wouldn’t allow it.

Today, the four kids went to the palace for their studies, so they weren’t around to make noise about wanting to touch their mother’s belly. Xiao Changyi’s ears were much quieter, but he couldn’t relax even a little.
