Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1634: Chapter 1635: How Stupid Is He

Gong Juechen had just turned around to face the direction he came from, but before he could take a step, he saw a horse gallop past him, and the rider seemed familiar.

Su Chengyu’s horse was running incredibly fast, and Su Chengyu was in such a panic that he didn’t notice the person standing under the big tree.

When the horse passed in front of Gong Juechen, Su Chengyu finally noticed someone standing there. It seemed to be Gong Juechen, but he didn’t have time to hesitate about asking for help because in front of him was a cliff. The sight frightened him so much that he couldn’t even think of asking for help; he just saved himself by jumping off the horse.

By jumping down, he might have a slim chance of survival, but not jumping meant no chance at all.

But the horse was running too fast and couldn’t brake in time, so it just ran straight over the edge of the cliff.

As soon as Su Chengyu jumped off the horse, he started rolling rapidly on the ground, unable to stop himself, and seeing that he was about to roll off the cliff, he resigned himself and closed his eyes.

The moment he closed his eyes, his body rolled over the edge of the cliff.

It was also at this moment that Gong Juechen saw clearly.

As soon as he saw it was Su Chengyu, and that Su Chengyu was rolling off the cliff, Gong Juechen rushed forward almost immediately, leaping to grab Su Chengyu.

He managed to grab Su Chengyu, but both of them fell off the cliff together.

Su Chengyu originally thought he would fall and be smashed into a pulp, but to his surprise, a hand caught him, making him open his eyes instantly. He looked up to see that it was Gong Juechen who had grabbed him.

His feelings were suddenly indescribably complicated.

Gong Juechen didn’t have time to look at Su Chengyu; with one hand holding Su Chengyu, seeing himself also falling off the cliff, he cursed under his breath, quickly drew a dagger from his waist with the other hand, and stabbed it heavily into the cliff wall.

The dagger lodged into the wall, but how could it bear the weight of two people? The combined weight of the two dragged the dagger down the cliff face, dislodging countless chips of stone.

Afraid the stone chips would splash into his eyes, Su Chengyu could only lower his head, avoiding eye contact with Gong Juechen.

But thanks to the dagger, their descent slowed down a bit.

However, the cliff face below wasn’t as smooth as above, so the dagger couldn’t be much help. Gong Juechen immediately made a decision, abandoning the dagger and pulling Su Chengyu along with him to dive toward the horse carcass not far from below.

The horse was Su Chengyu’s, already dead from the fall, but falling onto the carcass was better than hitting the hard rocks on the ground, or so Gong Juechen thought.

Gong Juechen thought he would land on the horse, but mistimed it slightly, causing Su Chengyu to fall on the horse while he landed on Su Chengyu, who let out a muffled groan in pain.

Upon hearing Su Chengyu’s groan, Gong Juechen felt no sympathy at all.

Climbing off Su Chengyu, Gong Juechen stood at the bottom of the cliff, looked up at the cliff face and the dagger still stuck above, his feelings now somewhat complicated.

Why did he risk everything to save Su Chengyu?

Wouldn’t it be better for Su Chengyu to just die? Then no one would harbor any fear of him.

But he did...

Seeing Su Chengyu rolling down the cliff, he acted to save him without any thought or hesitation.

God knows how stupid Gong Juechen felt right now.

Looking down contemptuously at Su Chengyu, still lying on the horse carcass unable to move, Gong Juechen pressed his lips, then kicked Su Chengyu lightly: ”Hey, are you dead? If not, get up.”
