Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1598: Chapter 1599: What’s the point of just eating

Ye Zhi did not thank Gong Juechen; she simply turned around in his arms and hugged him back.

Every time they slept together, it was always Gong Juechen holding her, she had never hugged him before. Now hugging back, it instantly warmed Gong Juechen’s heart.

It made his heart burn with intense warmth.

His arms tightened around Ye Zhi subconsciously, and with his chin resting on the top of her head, feeling that burning heart, Gong Juechen didn’t say anything to Ye Zhi, but in his heart, he said, ”Zhizhi, I will live well with you.”

As for all those things about him she didn’t know, he would hide them from her for a lifetime, so she would never know.

...

The next day, while An Jing was having breakfast with her husband, she saw Gong Juechen and Ye Zhi appear hand in hand before them and knew that everything was fine between Gong Juechen and Ye Zhi.

An Jing immediately joked, ”So who was it that got so angry yesterday?”

Before Ye Zhi could speak, Gong Juechen quickly said, ”It was me, all my fault, from now on I won’t go to a brothel again, Zhizhi, don’t be angry anymore, you’re pregnant, you can’t get angry.”

Ye Zhi side-eyed him: ”You only care about the child?”

Gong Juechen immediately replied, ”I care about the child because the child is in you!”

In other words, I actually care about you.

Ye Zhi finally felt satisfied, smiled, and sat at the table with Gong Juechen, then picked up the chopsticks to have breakfast.

Gong Juechen quickly peeled two eggs and put them in Ye Zhi’s bowl for her to eat.

An Jing glanced at Ye Zhi, then at Gong Juechen, and felt that after last night, something was different about the two of them. Even though she didn’t know exactly what was different, she thought it was a good thing; at least she could see that their relationship had become much better and they were much closer.

The four children had already gone to the palace for school, and at this moment, at the table, it was only An Jing, Xiao Changyi, Gong Juechen, and Ye Zhi having breakfast.

Ye Zhi, while drinking porridge and eating eggs, suddenly remembered something, and quickly said to Gong Juechen, ”The thirty thousand tael you gave me last night, I left it on the table, I forgot to take it, go get it.”

Without a word, Gong Juechen went back to the room where he and Ye Zhi stayed last night to get the thirty thousand tael in silver notes. His wife was pregnant, so running errands was naturally his job.

An Jing watched Gong Juechen run off to fetch the silver notes, then smiled and asked Ye Zhi, ”Judging by the thirty thousand tael you mentioned, it seems he really went to the brothel to treat someone yesterday.”

”I don’t know, anyway, that’s what he said.” Ye Zhi said obstinately, refusing to admit she believed Gong Juechen.

An Jing just found it amusing.

Seeing that only she, her husband, and Ye Zhi were in the room, she didn’t shy away and said directly, ”It’s almost May, and isn’t the fifth of May the Dragon Boat Festival? Although there’s no Dragon Boat Festival here, nor is there rice dumplings, we can make some ourselves that day. I’ve been here for so many years and haven’t eaten rice dumplings. Now that I’m pregnant, ever since the morning sickness ended, I’m constantly craving this and that, and right now, I want to eat rice dumplings. I’m thinking of making some that day. Do you want to come over and make some together? If not, you can just come over and eat as well.”

Ye Zhi, who also quite liked rice dumplings, immediately agreed: ”Of course, I’ll come and make them with you; what’s the fun in just eating them.”

”Alright, then I’ll have someone prepare the ingredients ahead of time, and wait for you to come over and make them together.”

”Let’s invite Wuyu and others, the more, the merrier.”

”Okay.” An Jing readily agreed.
