Chapter 1553: Chapter 1554: Xiao Changyi Acts as a Matchmaker

When the four children were practicing writing, An Jing also picked up a brush and wrote a few words. Upon finishing, she handed the paper to Xiao Changyi.

Xiao Changyi took the paper, and upon seeing the five words ”Family Harmony Brings Prosperity,” his eyes flickered slightly.

He then looked towards his wife, warm emotions softening his otherwise indifferent gaze. The greatest happiness in life is meeting someone who understands you as deeply as you understand them. And his wife truly was someone who understood him.

Even though he currently had worries, in reality, he also felt very fortunate.

As soon as An Jing noticed Xiao Changyi looking at her, she immediately gave him a big smile, akin to the warm sun in winter, bright and comforting, warming through the entire body.

Gazing at his wife in this way, Xiao Changyi was momentarily mesmerized.

As the four children casually showed Xiao Changyi their writings, it finally drew his attention away from An Jing.

While Xiao Changyi was lowering his head to look at the children’s writing, someone came respectfully to report, ”Your Majesty, the Duke of Righteous Valor requests an audience.”

The Duke of Righteous Valor was Liu Buli.

Liu Buli was now not only the Duke of Righteous Valor but also held the position of General, wielding significant military power and considered an important official.

Without even glancing at the person, Xiao Changyi said, ”Bring him in.”

”Yes.”

Soon, Liu Buli entered the study. Upon entering, he saluted Xiao Changyi and An Jing.

After the servant brought a chair, Liu Buli sat down. An Jing then smiled and asked, ”What brings you here today?”

Though slightly embarrassed, Liu Buli still spoke, ”This General is worried that the Marquis of Boyang might not consent to my marriage with Feifei, so I had to shamelessly come to request the King to act as a matchmaker for me and Feifei.”

An Jing, pleased to help others achieve happiness, knew that Liu Buli and Liu Feifei were truly in love. She said, ”Husband, please act as the matchmaker. Go pay a visit to the Marquis’ Mansion.”

”Alright.” Responding, Xiao Changyi stood up and walked out.

Liu Buli was stunned, utterly surprised that Xiao Changyi would immediately go to handle this matter for him.

”This General takes leave.” Once he regained his senses, Liu Buli quickly saluted An Jing once more, and hurried to follow Xiao Changyi.

Now that Chilin had been conquered, Xiyun was in a period of recovery and development. Liu Buli wanted to take this opportunity to marry Liu Feifei.

Although his family and the Marquis of Boyang’s shared the same lineage, he rarely interacted with the Marquis. Moreover, the Marquis of Boyang had never considered taking him as a son-in-law, which worried him. Fearing that the Marquis might not agree, he sought Xiao Changyi’s help.

Xiao Changyi, being the King of Xiyun, acting as the matchmaker was akin to a royal decree. Even if the Marquis of Boyang disagreed, he would have no choice but to consent.

While Xiao Changyi went to the Marquis’ Mansion to act as the matchmaker, Liu Buli felt it inappropriate to follow right into the mansion, so he just waited at the gate of the West Cloud Mansion for Xiao Changyi to return.

When the people of the Marquis’ Mansion saw Xiao Changyi arriving, they all knelt down.

Xiao Changyi walked straight to the main seat and sat down, and only after the Marquis of Boyang had risen did he speak about the matchmaking matter for Liu Buli and Liu Feifei.

The Marquis of Boyang was quite surprised but still immediately agreed, ”The King is acting as the matchmaker; how could I possibly refuse? The King can instruct the Duke of Righteous Valor to come and propose any time.”

”Alright.” While saying this, Xiao Changyi rose and left.

The Marquis of Boyang wished that the King would stay longer in his mansion, as it would be a great honor, but as Xiao Changyi was about to leave, he dared not stop him. He promptly, along with everyone in the household, respectfully saw Xiao Changyi off.

After seeing Xiao Changyi off, the Marquis of Boyang asked Liu Feifei if she knew why Xiao Changyi suddenly came to act as a matchmaker for her and Liu Buli.
