Chapter 1597: Chapter 1598: She Is Not Used to Caring About Him at All

Ye Zhi asked while lifting the quilt to get out of bed, ”Are you really never going back to the brothel again?”

Gong Juechen responded quickly, ”Mhm mhm! I’ll never go again! Even if you beat me to death, I won’t go!”

Only then did Ye Zhi walk to the door and open it.

As soon as the door was opened, Gong Juechen wanted to hug Ye Zhi and give her a kiss, but Ye Zhi pushed him away with disdain, ”You smell like the makeup and perfumes from that place!”

”Then wait a bit, I’ll go take a bath and be back!” Gong Juechen stuffed thirty thousand tael silver notes into Ye Zhi’s hand, then turned and quickly ran off to bathe.

Before Ye Zhi could even react, Gong Juechen had already disappeared from her sight.

Unable to help it, Ye Zhi felt a bit conflicted; looking down, with the illumination of the lanterns outside and the moonlight, at the thirty thousand tael silver notes in her hand, Ye Zhi felt even more conflicted.

Nonetheless, she still left the door open for Gong Juechen.

Placing the silver notes on the table and casually pressing them down with a teacup, Ye Zhi then walked back to the bed, lay down, and went to sleep.

Ye Zhi thought it would take Gong Juechen a while to return, but he came back shortly after.

The room door was ajar, and as soon as he entered, Gong Juechen closed it with a backhand and latched it.

Ye Zhi was quite surprised, ”Why are you back so soon?”

”I just rinsed with cold water and came back.”

Ye Zhi immediately felt a surge of anger, ”Why did you use cold water? Don’t expect me to take care of you if you get sick!”

”I was just in a hurry to get back to bed with you,” Gong Juechen grinned as he took off his shoes and outer garments and burrowed under the covers. ”Zhizhi, I don’t smell like that place anymore, smell me.”

”Get lost!”

Despite Ye Zhi telling Gong Juechen to get lost, Gong Juechen still shamelessly hugged Ye Zhi, and they lay together under the covers. Ye Zhi struggled for a bit, but seeing that she couldn’t break free, she gave up and let Gong Juechen hold her.

Feeling the chill from Gong Juechen’s body, after a while, Ye Zhi couldn’t help but softly whisper, ”Next time, don’t use cold water.”

Knowing that Ye Zhi was concerned about him and even voiced it, Gong Juechen was overjoyed and nodded repeatedly, ”Mhm mhm.”

Ye Zhi said nothing more, but in the dark, her face blushed slightly. She actually wasn’t used to caring about him. She was more accustomed to scolding him.

Closing her eyes, as Ye Zhi was about to sleep, Gong Juechen softly called her name by her ear, ”Zhizhi.”

”Mhm?” Ye Zhi responded instinctively.

”I’ll never go to the brothel again, don’t be mad.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Zhi instantly felt a sense of embarrassment, as if Gong Juechen had seen right through her. After a moment of silence, she eventually responded, ”Mhm.”

Gong Juechen’s hand moved to her stomach.

Ye Zhi’s body tensed slightly, then relaxed.

Gong Juechen whispered in her ear, ”Thank you, Zhizhi, for giving me a home.”

This future home will be even more complete.

Because she already carried in her belly their child, a child of hers and his.

Once, he had thought about getting married, even planned to find a particularly beautiful person to marry, thinking that someone beautiful would be delightful to look at, but never imagined having a child with that person.

In fact, he thought, if that person happened to be pregnant with his child, he’d find a way to make them get rid of the child.

He had seen many people more beautiful than her, but never had he given his heart to any of them. Now, he had given his heart, his entire heart, to her. He loved her too much to ever think of getting rid of their child.

The moment he learned of her pregnancy, he was so happy that he almost cried.
