Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1567: Chapter 1568: Just Gone Like That?

All along, Gong Juechen never revealed the fact that Ye Zhi was not from here.

Because of this, Gong Juechen had always been worried, worried that Ye Zhi might leave him at any time. And now, Gong Juechen’s only wish is for Ye Zhi to stay by his side until they grow old.

When Gong Juechen and Ye Zhi became one, Gong Juechen whispered almost pleadingly in Ye Zhi’s ear, ”Zhizhi, promise me you’ll never leave me, never...”

Ye Zhi, at this moment, wasn’t in the mindset to notice anything wrong with Gong Juechen’s words. She just nodded in a daze and agreed.

Finally, Gong Juechen smiled. Together with Ye Zhi, they watched the myriad of fireworks, blooming entirely before their eyes, in their minds, and in their hearts.

...

The next day, when Ye Zhi woke up, she saw Gong Juechen sitting on the bed with scissors, not knowing what he was cutting.

Thinking about how they had become a real couple last night, Ye Zhi’s face instantly flushed, feeling a bit embarrassed.

But noticing that the bedsheet was gone, and seeing that what Gong Juechen was cutting seemed to be the bedsheet, she was very puzzled. Despite feeling a bit shy, she started dressing while asking, ”Why are you cutting the bedsheet?”

Gong Juechen only then noticed she was awake. He turned around, pressed down on her, and gave her a big kiss before happily saying, ”There is a bloodstain here from you. I’m cutting it out as a keepsake.”

Ye Zhi, having been kissed, felt even more embarrassed. But hearing Gong Juechen’s words made her face turn even redder. Simultaneously, she became embarrassed and angry, not saying a word, grabbed the bedsheet, and the scissors from Gong Juechen’s hand.

Then, she cut the part of the bedsheet with blood into tiny pieces.

”Zhizhi...” Gong Juechen looked sadly at the fabric Ye Zhi had shredded.

Such a meaningful keepsake, just gone like that.

Ye Zhi glared at him fiercely. Sometimes his naivety made her want to strangle him.

...

On the third day after Ye Zhi and Gong Juechen got married, they went to King of Xiyun’s mansion. Firstly, it was Ye Zhi’s return visit, and secondly, Ye Zhi had something to ask An Jing.

After An Jing listened to what Ye Zhi wanted to ask of her, she immediately said, ”Ye Zi, there’s really no need for you to leave the military camp.”

From An Jing’s words, it was clear that Ye Zhi wanted An Jing to talk to Su Chengyu, to relay that she didn’t want to be this Deputy General anymore, and that Gong Juechen didn’t want to be this military doctor anymore. She hoped that Su Chengyu, the Emperor, would grant this request.

Gong Juechen sat beside Ye Zhi, occasionally tossing peanuts into his mouth.

Upon hearing An Jing’s words, before Ye Zhi could say anything, Gong Juechen nonchalantly said, ”I used to be a military doctor because of Zhizhi. Now that Zhizhi wants to leave the military camp, naturally, I won’t stay as a military doctor. Jingjing, we agreed on this from the start. Besides, he wouldn’t be at ease with me in the military camp, and now that Zhizhi has married me, he wouldn’t be at ease with Zhizhi either. It’s best for both Zhizhi and me to leave the military camp. From now on, Zhizhi and I want to live our own little lives. If you wish us well, it’s best to support us.”

An Jing first exchanged a glance with Xiao Changyi before sighing, ”Alright, tomorrow I’ll enter the palace and discuss this with Chengyu.”

...

The following day, An Jing entered the palace to convey the message to Su Chengyu.

Upon hearing it, Su Chengyu immediately fell silent. After a long while, he closed his eyes and said, ”It’s for the best that they’re not in the military camp.”

After a pause, ”Sister-in-law, I want to see Chenglin.”

An Jing felt very complicated in her heart but still nodded and softly said, ”Tomorrow, your Brother Yi will bring him into the palace to see you.”
