Chapter 1596: Chapter 1597 Fragrant Pill

Gong Juechen immediately said, ”Why aren’t you letting me in? Zhizhi, are you angry? Otherwise, why would you leave home where everything is fine and come here to stay?”

Without waiting for Ye Zhi’s reply, Gong Juechen continued, ”But why are you angry? I just went to the brothel to check on the girls’ health. The night visits are much more expensive than daytime ones. I even sold quite a few of the incense pills we made. The girls at Nuan Huan Pavilion were scrambling to get them, saying they smell especially nice, perfect to wear on their bodies, and want me to sell them some more next time.”

Inside the room, lying in bed in the dark, Ye Zhi felt especially aggrieved. She really didn’t want Gong Juechen to go to the brothel, even if it was to earn money. However, despite wanting to say this, she found it difficult to express.

She knew he only liked her for her face.

And she had been trying hard not to let herself like him more. Just a little liking was enough; she didn’t want to like him more. She was afraid that if she grew old, he wouldn’t even like her face anymore, and she wouldn’t be able to bear it.

Standing at the door, Gong Juechen continued chattering, ”The incense pills were made from many precious herbs and flowers. I sold each tiny pill for fifty taels of Silver. Just from selling the incense pills, I made over twenty thousand taels. Adding my treatment fees, the total is thirty thousand taels. Zhizhi, look, here’s the thirty thousand taels. Open the door so I can give the money to you.”

”I don’t want it!” Ye Zhi said willfully. ”Just give it to those girls! You might as well stay there forever and never come back!”

”They aren’t my wives. Why would I give it to them? Zhizhi, I really was just there to treat them and sold some incense pills while I was at it. I didn’t fool around inside. Can you trust me?”

Ye Zhi remained silent.

Gong Juechen continued, ”I originally planned to bring you along, but weren’t you bathing? Plus, the people at Nuan Huan Pavilion were in a rush, saying a girl was about to die, so I hurried over. That’s why I didn’t bring you.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Zhi was no longer angry. However, she muttered softly, ”Who wants to go to that kind of place with you! Only you men like going there!”

Gong Juechen felt wronged, ”I’m not very fond of going there. I used to frequently go because there were many pretty girls there. But after meeting you and liking you, I’ve been going less and less. Now, I almost never go to brothels, and if I do, it’s to treat patients and make money. Zhizhi, if you don’t want me to go, then I won’t go anymore. We won’t earn that money, alright?”

Ye Zhi immediately sat up, ”Have I ever asked you to earn money from brothels? It was you who wanted to go!”

”Alright, alright, it was me who wanted to go. Zhizhi, don’t be mad, don’t be mad. It’s all my fault, I’m to blame. I won’t go anymore, I won’t earn that money. Anyway, even if I don’t make money, we won’t starve, right? Moreover, it’s not only brothels that ask me to treat patients. At worst, I’ll just raise my treatment fees a little in the future, it’s no big deal.”

Ye Zhi: ”...” This way of earning money really doesn’t win her admiration. But, thanks to his high medical skills, many people are willing to spend extravagantly to get an appointment with him. Otherwise, with his methods, it’s likely he wouldn’t earn a single coin.

”Zhizhi, just open the door and let me in. Although it’s already late April, I’m still a little cold outside. You wouldn’t want me to catch cold, would you?” Gong Juechen played the pity card, pleadingly.
