Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1585: Chapter 1586 Painful...

Everyone else was sitting in the pavilion.

Du Aya, who didn’t know about Tobanya’s infertility, casually smiled and asked while eating pastries, ”Jade Jade, we’re all pregnant now, when will you be expecting one?”

Du Aya truly asked casually, without any ill intentions toward Tobanya.

However, Tobanya, who couldn’t conceive, still felt a slight sting in her heart.

As soon as An Jing and the others heard Du Aya’s words, they felt uneasy.

Li Wuyu quickly pulled Du Aya aside and whispered in her ear about Tobanya’s infertility caused by being trampled by a horse.

Upon hearing this, Du Aya immediately felt remorseful and didn’t know what to do, so she just clumsily apologized to Tobanya, ”I’m sorry, Jade Jade, I didn’t know, please don’t mind, I didn’t mean it.”

Tobanya shook her head and smiled slightly, ”It’s okay.”

She didn’t say much more, just those two words. Saying more wouldn’t change the fact that she couldn’t conceive; there really wasn’t much else to say.

Du Aya still felt deeply guilty, wanting to apologize to Tobanya again, but An Jing and the others stopped her.

It was better to quickly change the topic.

There was no need to continue discussing this topic, as even mentioning it again would hurt Tobanya.

Ye Zhi and the others left after having lunch at the King of Xiyun’s mansion. After lunch, An Jing was ordered by Xiao Changyi to take a nap, and only then did Tobanya return to the courtyard where she and her husband lived.

The courtyard was very large, and being in the King of Xiyun’s mansion, no one would look down on her or dare to mock her.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi were also very kind to her and her husband, never treating them as outsiders.

Actually, she was living quite well.

It’s just that she had two pains in her heart.

One pain was her husband’s face. Fortunately, her husband’s face had improved a lot with Gong Juechen’s scar-removing ointment, and it was no longer so hideous, which made her feel somewhat relieved.

The other pain was her inability to conceive.

She longed to have a child.

She longed to give her husband a child.

Even though she had married her husband, she truly didn’t want him to have no descendants because of her.

Moreover, her husband did like children a lot. One could tell from his attitude towards the four children of Jing Xingqingyun.

But...

She couldn’t bear children.

She couldn’t have children.

Her heart was very heavy, but Tobanya didn’t show any of it on her face, remaining as cold as ever.

As soon as she entered the room, Tobanya dismissed the maidservants who were waiting inside.

She walked to the bed, initially intending to take a nap, but upon reaching the bed, she didn’t lie down. Instead, she sat on the bed, blankly leaning against it, uncontrollably shedding tears.

She had secretly cried many times over her infertility.

By now, she was already used to it.

The first time she cried over this, she hurriedly wiped her tears, but now she was accustomed to letting the tears flow unchecked, without even bothering to wipe them.

She really wanted to have a child of her own with her husband.

Really.

Hearing footsteps outside, the steps were quite urgent, and only then did Tobanya hastily try to dry her tears.

But Meng Zhuqing came running in and happened to see Tobanya wiping her tears secretly.

”Yao’er, look what I got you—” he said happily as he returned.

Meng Zhuqing cheerfully entered the room, only to see Tobanya sitting on the bed wiping her tears; he immediately panicked and quickly went over, asking Tobanya, ”Yao’er, what’s wrong with you? Did someone bully you?”

As soon as he asked the second question, Meng Zhuqing himself realized that it didn’t make sense.
