Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1586: Chapter 1587: Throwing a Major Tantrum

Tobanya is not only a Commandery Princess, but now she also lives with him in the mansion of the King of Xiyun, under the protection of Xiao Changyi, the King of Xiyun, who would dare to bully them?

Meng Zhuqing was too anxious when he asked that, speaking without thinking.

Tobanya had already wiped her tears away and was no longer crying. However, her beautiful eyes were red from crying, which added a touch of delicate beauty to her already cold and outstanding beauty.

”I’m fine, no one is bullying me.” Tobanya forced a smile. ”Didn’t you say you bought something for me? What did you buy? Show me quickly.”

Meng Zhuqing held a pair of red string knotted hearts in his hand. He had seen a vendor selling them on the street and bought a pair for Tobanya. But now, he had no mind to give them to her, and said anxiously, ”With you crying like this, how can you say you’re fine!”

”Yao’er, what exactly is wrong?” Meng Zhuqing asked gently, ”Tell me, we are husband and wife, what can’t you tell me?”

Seeing that changing the topic didn’t work, Tobanya remained silent, just lowering her head, her eyes fixed on the ground.

Meng Zhuqing asked a few more questions, but seeing Tobanya still not speaking, he became even more anxious.

It was then that his mind recalled Qin Yi, whom he had met on the way back, mentioning that today Ye Zhi, Li Wuyu, and Du Aya all entered the mansion. It made him suddenly understand something.

He immediately asked, ”Are you upset because you saw the ladies are all pregnant?”

Tobanya’s body stiffened slightly.

Meng Zhuqing was instantly more certain that this was the reason, and quickly tried to comfort her, ”Didn’t we agree before? If you want a child, we can adopt one.”

Tobanya still kept her head down, not looking at him, but spoke muffledly, ”An adopted child isn’t my own.”

There’s always a big difference between a child born to you and one who is adopted.

Hearing this, Meng Zhuqing didn’t know how to comfort her. Without adopting, and since she couldn’t give birth, where would they get a child?

Tobanya also stopped speaking.

Both of them just sat quietly by the bed.

Meng Zhuqing felt uneasy at heart. He didn’t want Tobanya to be like this. Having no children was fine by him, but she never truly accepted it.

Even though he felt bad, after a moment of silence, he still handed the knotted hearts in his hand to Tobanya.

Tobanya still did not look at Meng Zhuqing but took the knotted hearts. Now, she no longer looked at the ground but at the knotted hearts in her hands. Her face remained expressionless.

A long time passed.

Finally, Tobanya lifted her head as if making some significant decision, looked at Meng Zhuqing, and said, ”You should take a concubine.”

Meng Zhuqing was first taken aback, not expecting Tobanya to say such a thing. Then, realizing what she meant, he immediately flew into a rage, ”Tobanya!”

This was the first time he had shouted her name so loudly and angrily, using her full name.

He even kicked over the round stool by the bedside in his fury.

Tobanya looked dazed. Clearly, she hadn’t expected Meng Zhuqing to lose his temper like that.

Seeing Tobanya like this, Meng Zhuqing wanted to control his anger. He couldn’t bear to treat her this way, but he just couldn’t help being angry. He was truly very angry. Very angry.

Meng Zhuqing paced back and forth in a fit of anger before finally bending down, gripping Tobanya’s shoulders, and looking her in the eye, speaking sternly, ”I told you before we got married that I would never take a concubine, and I haven’t changed my mind, but you have... Tobanya, do you want to infuriate me to death?”
