Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1559: Chapter 1560: Husband, You’re Acting Strange Today

Because the Upper Study Room is in the Imperial Palace, An Jing and Xiao Changyi didn’t want Jing Xingqingyun to always get up early to go to school in the palace, so they let Jing Xingqingyun live in the palace.

The Upper Study Room takes a day off every five days, so Jing Xingqingyun returns home from the palace every fifth day to stay at home for a day.

The children are all grown up now, and they are quite okay with this arrangement without making any fuss, not needing An Jing or Xiao Changyi around all the time.

Having fought battles outside for two years, the female soldiers have greatly improved their comprehensive skills. Now, they no longer need An Jing to train them personally; they just train themselves daily, as the training programs are quite standard. Therefore, An Jing doesn’t have to go to the military camp every day and only goes there occasionally.

It’s the eighteenth of January.

An Jing found it very strange that her husband had been staring at her since she got up. No matter where she went, he followed, almost not leaving her side for a moment.

After listening to the housekeeper’s report on the affairs of the mansion and giving some instructions, An Jing only pulled Xiao Changyi’s hand and sat face to face with him after the housekeeper retreated, asking, ”Husband, what’s wrong with you today? You seem off.”

Xiao Changyi didn’t say what was wrong and only asked back, ”Did you forget what day it is today?”

”What day is it?” An Jing couldn’t recall for a moment.

”...” Xiao Changyi paused and said, ”Think carefully.”

An Jing really thought about it carefully, ”Isn’t today the eighteenth? What’s up? There’s nothing to commemorate.”

It wasn’t her birthday, or his birthday, not even the birthday of their four children nor their wedding anniversary...

An Jing genuinely didn’t think this day had anything special about it.

Xiao Changyi paused again, but seeing An Jing truly hadn’t noticed anything wrong with today, he spoke softly yet with concern, ”Today is the day you’re supposed to have your period, but it hasn’t come yet...”

An Jing instantly understood but was amused and exasperated. In the past, she would feel a slight fever and even a little pain in her stomach during her period. Today she didn’t feel feverish or have stomach pain, so she didn’t think along those lines and didn’t pay attention. She didn’t expect her husband to remember this day so clearly and to be particularly worried.

Worried about what?

She didn’t have to think to know: he was worried she might be pregnant.

”Husband, you...” An Jing looked at her husband, not knowing what to say.

Xiao Changyi said nothing, merely staring at An Jing’s belly.

”Husband,” An Jing was even more amused and exasperated, ”My period didn’t come today, but it might come tomorrow. Some people are delayed by several days; it’s normal.” Pausing, she continued, ”Besides, if I am really pregnant, wouldn’t that be a good thing?”

Xiao Changyi promptly said, ”Not good, you’ll be in pain.”

An Jing felt warm in her heart yet helpless, but she still tightly held Xiao Changyi’s hand and seriously said, ”Even if it’s painful, I’m willing to bear children for you.”

Xiao Changyi remained focused on her belly, persistently saying, ”I don’t want you to be in pain.”

”Husband...” An Jing felt powerless and again didn’t know what to say.

Xiao Changyi continued, ”I hope your period comes soon.”

An Jing chuckled, exasperated, ”You’ve followed me around all day, doing nothing, just to see my period come, huh?”

Xiao Changyi honestly nodded, ”I’ll be relieved once you have your period.”

An Jing was left speechless.
