Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1558: Chapter 1559: Do You Want to Have Another Baby?

Seeing her husband with a darkened face, An Jing tried hard to hold back her laughter. Her husband no longer wanted her to bear children, fearing she would suffer the pain of childbirth again.

Xiao Changyi didn’t find it funny at all.

The children used to clamour for a younger sibling, but back then they were young and easily coaxed; he would just say that their mother would be in pain from childbirth, and they’d stop asking. But now, the children are much older, and if they can’t be persuaded...

Images of his wife writhing in pain during childbirth automatically popped into his mind, and Xiao Changyi immediately shook his head inwardly, determined never to go through this again!

Xiao Changyi was just about to ask An Yiyun to play elsewhere, in case he said anything about wanting a well-behaved brother like Wang Haomiao, but before he could speak, An Yiyun had already pulled Wang Haomiao to play.

Instantly, Xiao Changyi breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Fortunately, An Yiyun only remarked that it would be nice to have a well-behaved brother like Wang Haomiao and didn’t insist on demanding a younger sibling.

Seeing Xiao Changyi’s greatly relieved expression, An Jing couldn’t hold back any longer and burst out laughing. But she didn’t say anything; she just hugged Xiao Changyi’s right arm, laughing, leaning against him.

Except for Xiao Changyi, Wang Youbao and the others were quite bewildered.

Meanwhile, Gong Juese asked, ”Jingjing, Jing’er and the others are almost seven years old, why haven’t you conceived your second child yet?”

At these words, Xiao Changyi’s face darkened once more.

An Jing continued to hug Xiao Changyi’s right arm, soothing him while laughing, ”We’ll leave it to fate; if it happens, it happens; if not, it’s fine.”

Xiao Changyi immediately hoped in his heart: Hopefully, it never happens.

Gong Juese seemed troubled, rubbing her own belly, ”I still want to have more, but this belly just won’t behave and won’t conceive.”

Then, Gong Juese asked Li Wuyu, ”Wuyu, do you want to have more children?”

Concerning matters like this, Li Wuyu was fairly shy; upon being asked so by Gong Juese, her face instantly turned red. She sneaked a glance at Wang Youbao, which only deepened her blush. Yet she still managed to softly say, ”I do...”

Wang Youbao’s ears turned slightly red, indicating his slight embarrassment, but his gaze towards Li Wuyu grew even more tender.

Here, the belief was that more children meant more blessings, so it was no wonder Li Wuyu wanted more. An Jing understood and said nothing.

Moreover, she herself wanted to have another, a daughter. But if it didn’t come to be, she wouldn’t force it.

As for her husband...

Unconsciously, An Jing looked at Xiao Changyi, still not saying anything, simply smiling at him.

Xiao Changyi didn’t say anything either, merely breaking off a small twig with five or six bright blood-red plum flowers from a nearby plum tree, which was particularly striking and captivating against the snowy landscape. He handed the plum branch to An Jing.

Among thousands upon thousands in the Plum Forest, yet this branch is only for you.

An Jing naturally accepted it, looking at the cold plum in her hand, her eyes now filled not just with laughter but also with deep sweetness.

Happiness spread through the icy snowy world.

...

The four little ones had all grown up into big kids, plus An Yiqing was getting more mischievous; this New Year was extremely lively.

As the New Year passed, the Lantern Festival on the fifteenth of the first lunar month quickly came and went. And once the Lantern Festival was over, Jing Xingqingyun went to the Upper Study Room to start school.
