Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1551: Chapter 1552: Much Better Than She Thought

As soon as he left the palace, Xiao Changyi returned to the King of Xiyun’s mansion.

Upon entering the main courtyard, he saw that his wife and children were neither in the courtyard nor in the main hall, so he asked, ”Where is the Queen?”

A servant immediately replied respectfully, ”The Queen is in the study.”

Only then did Xiao Changyi head towards the study.

Even before he reached the door of the study, he could hear the laughter and joy of his wife and children from afar, instantly warming his usually cold eyes. Despite the cold weather, his heart was warm.

Because of his wife.

Because of his children.

As soon as he entered the study, An Yiqing noticed him and immediately put down the brush he was holding, jumped off the stool, and happily ran towards him.

”Father, Father, I just wrote your name, come and see.” As soon as he reached his side, An Yiqing pulled him quickly to the table to show him what he had written.

Seated around the round table made of sandalwood were An Jing, An Yiyun, Su Yi Jing, and Su Yixing. Initially, An Yiqing was there too, but he had already jumped off the stool to pull Xiao Changyi over.

On the round table were brush, ink, paper, and inkstone.

As soon as An Yiqing pulled Xiao Changyi to the table, he picked up the piece of paper on which he had just written Xiao Changyi’s name and showed it to Xiao Changyi, with a smug little expression: ”Father, look, Mother says my handwriting is neat.”

Compared to the letters An Yiqing had written to him and his wife before, the handwriting was indeed quite neat.

Xiao Changyi took the paper while sitting down on an empty round stool. As soon as An Yiqing saw this, he quickly climbed onto the stool next to Xiao Changyi, not sitting, but kneeling on the stool, leaning over the table, cupping his little face, grinning cheerfully at Xiao Changyi, waiting for him to praise him.

But before Xiao Changyi could praise him, he heard his second brother Su Yixing say, ”Mother must have lied to you so as not to discourage you. Your handwriting is the ugliest among the four of us.”

An Yiqing’s little face immediately fell, and he angrily said to Su Yi Jing, ”Even if your handwriting looks good, I’ve never seen the Grand Tutor praise your writing!”

Su Yi Jing was not angry, ”Though the Grand Tutor has not praised me, my writing is indeed better looking than yours, right, Mother?”

Su Yi Jing was sitting on An Jing’s left. Hearing this, An Jing did not reply but smiled and patted Su Yi Jing’s head.

Since An Yiqing and Su Yixing often bickered, Xiao Changyi was used to it and did not say anything, only looking at the writing on the table. Seeing that they all wrote his and his wife’s names, he finally lifted his head and looked at his wife.

An Jing smiled and said, ”With nothing else to do, I brought the children to the study to play. The children said they could write our names, so I let them write. And I must say, they all wrote quite well.”

Much better than she had thought.

Especially the handwriting of An Yiyun and Su Yi Jing—so neat, it didn’t look like it was written by children of only six and a half years old.

After glancing at his four children, Xiao Changyi picked up a brush and began writing on a piece of paper.

The four children immediately gathered around to see what Xiao Changyi was writing.

An Jing also looked over curiously.

All Xiao Changyi wrote were the names of his family of six. Each character he wrote was powerful and vigorous, full of life, such that just seeing the characters made one feel the energetic momentum within.

An Yiyun looked at Xiao Changyi with admiration all over his face, ”I knew it, Father’s writing is the most beautiful!”

Jing Xingqing and the other two also looked at Xiao Changyi with admiration.

Seeing her four children like this, An Jing held back her laughter and deliberately said, ”Your father thinks that Mother’s handwriting is the best, isn’t that right, dear husband?”
