Chapter 1588: Chapter 1589 Envoys from Various Countries

...

On the sixth day of April, An Jing and Xiao Changyi entered the palace, planning to stay for half a month.

The four children are especially attached to An Jing, their pregnant mother, clinging to her at every opportunity, eager to watch her belly grow bit by bit, completely unwilling to stay in the palace without An Jing.

While staying at home, the four children would have to rise early every day for school. Not wanting the children to be too weary, they chose this option. Living in the palace allows the children to stay there as well.

They continue to reside in Fenghua Palace.

Su Chengyu has not filled his harem with many; there is only Ning Wenxian. With the help of the Tenth Princess in managing the harem, Ning Wenxian doesn’t have too many things to handle, allowing her, as Empress, the leisure to occasionally visit An Jing and chat.

However, Su Chengyu is quite busy, and being able to visit An Jing and Xiao Changyi once every two days is already fortunate.

Since the territory of Chilin Kingdom has been fully annexed by Xiyun, making Xiyun singularly dominant in this world, it is indeed a joyous occasion. Xiyun had already informed other small countries that there would be grand celebrations on the tenth of April.

Other small countries had originally planned to send envoys to congratulate Xiyun. Upon being informed, they immediately dispatched envoys.

Fearing that Xiyun might perceive them as disrespecting Xiyun, thereby inviting disaster, as Xiyun is not something they can afford to provoke now, these small countries dared not send low-ranking individuals as envoys to celebrate. They either sent their princes or crown princes or a prince... In any case, the people sent as envoys were those of power and influence in their own countries, demonstrating their sincerity.

Envoys from various countries have been arriving, and Su Chengyu has to meet each one. This is why Su Chengyu is so busy.

Tomorrow is the tenth of April, and Su Chengyu will officially celebrate with envoys from other countries.

Xiao Changyi, as a king equal to Emperor Su Chengyu, and the chief general who subdued Chilin, ought to attend this grand ceremony. However, Xiao Changyi was reluctant to go because he wanted to take care of An Jing.

An Jing persuaded for quite some time, promising to stay obediently in Fenghua Palace waiting for him to return, so Xiao Changyi agreed to participate.

...

The next day, in the celebratory hall, the sound of music arose, magnificent and imposing. The Xiyun civil and military officials, nobles, and royalty all knelt to welcome their Emperor and King into the hall; the envoys from each country stood, as they were not subjects of Xiyun and represented their home countries.

Su Chengyu and Xiao Changyi, each clad in their ceremonial attire, one exuding the majesty of an emperor, the other the presence of a king, entered the grand hall side by side. The civil and military officials, nobles, and royalty immediately shouted, ”Long live our Emperor and King!”

In the grand hall, on the jade steps, were two seats placed without distinction of rank, meant for Su Chengyu and Xiao Changyi.

Xiao Changyi did not wish to speak, so as soon as Su Chengyu sat down, he said, ”Rise.”

”Thank you, Emperor and King.” The kneeling nobles, and civil and military officials then got up and took their seats.

It was only then that the envoys from various nations saluted respectfully, saying, ”Greetings to the Emperor and King of Xiyun.”

Su Chengyu, embodying imperial authority, replied, ”Thank you for traveling such long distances, please be seated.”

The envoys of all countries bowed again to Su Chengyu and Xiao Changyi before taking their seats.

Among the envoys was Dongfang Tianyang.

Dongfang Tianyang is currently the Crown Prince of Dongqing and has come as the representative of the Dongqing Kingdom.

He has two purposes for coming from Dongqing: one overt purpose and one he secretly holds in his heart.
