Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1499: Chapter 1500: Not as tasty as yours

Li Wuyu is his wife, and he gives her whatever he can. He doesn’t want her to be like this at all.

Compared to expensive things, her happiness is more important.

He hopes she is happy every day.

At this moment, Wang Youbao truly feels uncomfortable, as if he hasn’t been a good husband.

Of course, he is more distressed for his wife.

Seeing Wang Youbao’s eyes turn red and looking particularly upset, Li Wuyu was instantly frightened.

She hadn’t seen her baby look like this for a long time.

The last time her baby looked like this was when he thought they wouldn’t be able to be together...

Li Wuyu immediately panicked and didn’t know what to do, only able to hurriedly say, ”Baby, baby, what’s wrong, baby? Did I do something wrong? Speak to me, tell me, I can change, baby? Baby?”

Wang Youbao shook his head and said, ”You haven’t done anything wrong. It’s just that you haven’t been living well, and I want you to live well. There’s money at home, and yet you still...”

Hearing this, Li Wuyu immediately understood and didn’t even wait for Wang Youbao to finish speaking before quickly saying, ”Okay, okay, I’ll live well, from now on I won’t save anything, I’ll buy whatever I want, alright? I beg you, don’t be upset, your discomfort makes me feel terrible too.”

”Then this silver note...” Wang Youbao took the opportunity to push the silver note towards Li Wuyu again.

”I’ll keep it on me!” This time, Li Wuyu did not refuse at all and immediately took the silver note and put it in her bosom.

Only then did Wang Youbao stop feeling uncomfortable, but he still said, ”When you’re not at home, I can’t take care of you. I don’t know how you’re doing, but if you don’t want me to worry about you, live well.”

”Mm-hmm!” Li Wuyu quickly nodded, nodding emphatically. She was afraid Wang Youbao would feel upset again.

...

The cooks finished preparing the meal as the sun set, not only cooking enough rice to fill everyone’s stomach but also making pancakes from flour, giving one to each person.

These days, everyone has been not getting enough food. Finally, today, they could eat their fill again, and everyone was genuinely very happy.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi ate the same food as everyone else.

An Jing held a pancake in one hand and chopsticks in the other, taking a bite of the pancake while eating vegetables. She hadn’t eaten her fill in a while, and now being full, An Jing felt truly satisfied.

”Husband, try this pancake. It’s quite tasty.” An Jing encouraged Xiao Changyi to eat the pancake too.

Although it was the same food, the pancakes they were given were noticeably more than those given to ordinary soldiers.

”Mm.” Xiao Changyi picked up a pancake, took a bite, and after swallowing it, calmly said, ”Not as good as the ones you make.”

An Jing immediately smiled, ”I haven’t made pancakes in a long time. When we return to the capital, I’ll make some for you and the kids.”

”Mm.” Xiao Changyi responded as he put some vegetables into her bowl. Although the vegetables weren’t prepared particularly well, right now, they weren’t picky. It was enough to eat their fill.

An Jing continued to happily eat both the vegetables and the pancake.

The military’s flour had long been used up, and in recent days, due to insufficient military provisions and not knowing when Wang Youbao could deliver supplies, everyone had been eating coarse grains mixed with wild vegetables to stave off hunger. Not only were they difficult to swallow, but they didn’t fill them up either.

”It’s fortunate that Youbao delivered the supplies in time.” Unconsciously, An Jing gratefully sighed. ”A few days ago, I even heard some soldiers worrying that we might starve to death here.”
