Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1454: Chapter 1455: Not running, staying to be killed by Xiao Changyi?

Suddenly, the West Gate General received an urgent report from a small soldier: ”General, the Great General has been killed by Su Changyi, and more than half of Jingye City has fallen into Su Changyi’s hands.”

”What?!” The Gatekeeper General was startled. ”What about the other soldiers?”

”Most have died in battle, a small number... have surrendered!”

The Gatekeeper General was immediately furious: ”How can a great man endure humiliation and live in disgrace, they are a disgrace to Chilin people!”

”Great General, this is not a place to stay long.” A young general reminded him.

”Indeed!” The Gatekeeper General immediately agreed. Since more than half of Jingye City had fallen, they would soon be attacked, they had to leave quickly. ”Sound the whistle to gather the troops, we retreat!”

”Yes!”

The army of five hundred thousand had been defeated, and he only had a mere one hundred fifty thousand here, if they didn’t run now, they’d be wiped out by Su Changyi!

Qi Tengfei saw the people on the city tower retreating, without even caring whether he was storming the city, and knew that Xiao Changyi’s side had successfully taken the city, while those guarding the West Gate had fled, making him instantly beam with joy, saying in a booming voice: ”The Great General has already stormed the city, we have won! Jingye City is ours!”

The soldiers who feigned attacking the city with Qi Tengfei immediately cheered with joy.

It wasn’t long before Qi Weimeng, riding a horse, opened the West Gate from the inside, and Qi Tengfei then happily led the soldiers into the city.

Jingye City wasn’t like Xilin City, which was inhabited by civilians; there wasn’t a single civilian in Jingye City. It was purely a city for defending against Xiyun, with few buildings but a vast area, enough to accommodate a million troops for camping.

This battle claimed many lives.

But fortunately, Xiyun only lost a little over a thousand people. And for these thousand-plus people, Xiao Changyi instructed Meng Lanqing to ensure they were properly buried so they wouldn’t be without a resting place even after death.

As for the other corpses, Xiao Changyi let Meng Zhuqing handle them, whether to throw them on the Random burial hill or something else, it was up to Meng Zhuqing to decide.

Having fought alongside Xiao Changyi before, Meng Zhuqing was skilled in dealing with such matters.

These people were enemies, now dead, so the valuables on their bodies were everyone’s war spoils. Meng Zhuqing let everyone take the valuables, whoever found it on a corpse first would own it.

As for the deceased enemies’ weapons and armor, they were all to be collected and turned over to the public.

There were so many corpses that they couldn’t all be buried, besides, Meng Zhuqing didn’t plan to bury them, but rather had the bodies thrown on the back mountain.

In some parts of Jingye City, blood truly flowed like rivers. Meng Zhuqing also had people scatter soil and other materials over the blood to cover it and tried to eliminate the scent of blood lingering in the air as much as possible.

”Great General, this General has checked, and the city not only has many fine weapons but also ample provisions, enough to last us more than half a year!” Qi Gaoda happily reported after surveying the city.

Although Xiao Changyi’s face didn’t show much expression, he slightly nodded his head in acknowledgment.

The rest were all delighted at hearing this. Although they weren’t lacking provisions for the time being, the more provisions the better, ensuring they wouldn’t have to worry about running out of supplies.

Qi Gaoda continued to report, ”There are also several hundred fine horses, we can train another batch to become cavalry.”

Xiao Changyi nodded, showing approval of Qi Gaoda’s idea.

”Hehe...” Qi Gaoda suddenly chuckled and rubbed his hands together, ”The city also has many sheep and pigs, and wine...”
