Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1492: Chapter 1493: I Only Trust General Su!

”Haha,” Qiao Shouye laughed heartily twice, ”General Su still remembers Qiao Mou, it is my honor.”

Xiao Changyi said, ”What General Qiao has done is all for the people, and it should be remembered.”

”I dare not, I dare not, this is the Qiao family’s training, Qiao Mou also does not want to disgrace the ancestors.” After humbly saying this, Qiao Shouye then entered the subject, ”General Su, I suppose General Meng has already told you, so I will not elaborate. As long as General Su agrees to one condition, the gates of Shuangli City will immediately open for General Su.”

”What condition?”

”After you enter the city, you must not harm a single hair of the people in this city; the people here must have the same status as the people of Xiyun.”

Xiao Changyi rarely smiled, ”General Qiao is still General Qiao.”

Qiao Shouye also smiled, ”General Su is renowned; I hope General Su is still General Su.”

Xiao Changyi then seriously said, ”Since Shuangli City will be incorporated into Xiyun, the people of Shuangli City naturally become the people of Xiyun, and naturally have the same status as the people of Xiyun. My Emperor loves the people like his own children and is kind-hearted, and I, the Great General, can represent My Emperor and agree to your condition.”

”Wonderful!” Qiao Shouye laughed heartily. ”Qiao Mou does not trust others, only General Su! Qiao Mou trusts General Su’s words! Qiao Mou will immediately open the city gates, and General Su can lead his forces into the city at any time.”

”Then I must trouble General Qiao.” Xiao Changyi gave another fist salute to Qiao Shouye.

Immediately, Xiao Changyi ordered a soldier to quickly return and have Qi Tengfei bring another ninety-nine thousand, so he could lead a hundred thousand troops to take over Shuangli City.

He still trusted Qiao Shouye’s character, as he is a man of his word, and he was not concerned it was a false surrender.

It should be a genuine surrender.

Before Xiao Changyi and his forces entered Shuangli City, Qiao Shouye rode a horse, accompanied by several soldiers, and approached Xiao Changyi.

He voluntarily explained, ”There are only three thousand soldiers inside the city now. Originally, there were twenty thousand, but the Emperor of Chilin transferred them away; many other cities had their troops transferred too. All were moved to the Imperial City; the Emperor of Chilin intends to abandon his other cities to guard the Imperial City. As long as the Imperial City is not breached, he still remains the Monarch of Chilin.”

Xiao Changyi nodded, ”Thank you, General Qiao, for informing me.”

Qiao Shouye sighed, ”Since Qiao Mou has surrendered to Xiyun, he is now one of Xiyun’s people. As long as My Emperor treats the people well, the Qiao family will never betray My Emperor for generations.”

Initially, Qiao Shouye also did not intend to betray the Emperor of Chilin, but the Emperor of Chilin was too excessive, causing the people’s situation to worsen and even generating widespread resentment.

Added with the fact that this was fate, he went with the flow and surrendered to Xiyun.

”General Qiao’s heart is for all beings; Su Mou admires this.” Xiao Changyi said this sincerely. He truly respected such people.

Qiao Shouye humbly replied, ”Not at all, not at all.”

Once Qi Tengfei led the troops over, Xiao Changyi proceeded with his forces to enter the city and take over Shuangli City.

Seeing the civilians kneeling on both sides of the street, fearful and worried, Xiao Changyi halted his horse and spoke loudly, ”Everyone, please rise.”

Yet the civilians still remained kneeling.

Then Xiao Changyi said, ”Be at ease, My Emperor loves the people like his own children and hopes the people can live peacefully and happily. By surrendering to Xiyun, you become My Emperor’s citizens and will surely live in peace and prosperity.”

Upon hearing this, the civilians of Shuangli City immediately knelt and shouted, ”Long live My Emperor, long live, long long live!”

It was evident how much the civilians hoped to live in peace and happiness.

”Please rise, all of you.” Xiao Changyi called out again.

Only then did the civilians rise with relief and happiness.
