Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1470: Chapter 1471: Su Changyi, I Spare Your Life!

Qian Taiwen also knew that the Emperor of Chilin didn’t regard them as human, but: ”He is the ruler, you are the subject. If the ruler wants the subject to die, the subject cannot refuse. Even if he doesn’t see you as human, you cannot betray him!”

Ge Xiangchong sneered coldly: ”If you want to be worth less than pigs and dogs to him, go ahead. We’ve had enough of it anyway.”

The other surrendered soldiers immediately echoed Ge Xiangchong’s words angrily and loudly: ”Yes! We’ve had enough! We’ve had enough!”

Ge Xiangchong continued: ”General Qian, you and Ma Da Gong are not like the Emperor of Chilin. You do not kill innocents indiscriminately, and you have a righteous character. I respect you, so I kindly advise you here: early surrender is the right path. I am now a person of Xiyun. Our Emperor in Xiyun cherishes his people like his own children. If you surrender, you will fare much better than under the tyrant Emperor of Chilin.”

”I, Qian, am a person of Chilin. What flows in my veins is the blood of Chilin. I will never do anything to betray Chilin!” Qian Taiwen would rather die than surrender.

Ge Xiangchong did not persuade further.

Qian Taiwen also stopped talking to Ge Xiangchong and instead shouted towards Xiao Changyi: ”Su Changyi, there are very few people I admire in my life, and you are one of them. Out of respect for you, when I recapture Jingye City, I will spare your life!”

Back then, when Xiao Changyi reclaimed the cities that Xiyun took from Chilin, he did meet Qian Taiwen, but the two never clashed.

And Xiao Changyi has won every battle without ever tasting defeat, which made Qian Taiwen genuinely admire Xiao Changyi.

Rarely, Xiao Changyi spoke: ”Su Mou can also spare General Qian’s life.”

Qian Taiwen did not appreciate it: ”No need! If Jingye City is not retaken, even if you don’t kill me, I will commit suicide to atone for my failure!”

Xiao Changyi said nothing.

Qian Taiwen also stopped wasting words. Seeing a signal fire rising from the mountains, indicating that his men were already attacking the east side of Jingye City, he felt it unnecessary to wait any longer and immediately ordered an assault on the city.

Xiao Changyi also saw the signal fire, but his expression remained unchanged.

Seeing Qian Taiwen ordering the soldiers to attack the city, Xiao Changyi still showed no change in expression or spoke, but stood quietly there.

The others on the city tower didn’t have Xiao Changyi’s composure. Even though they had catapults and the confidence to defend the city, upon seeing Qian Taiwen’s order to attack, they immediately behaved solemnly, ready to act as soon as Xiao Changyi, the Great General, gave the order.

Qian Taiwen saw that his soldiers were charging towards the city gates, while Xiao Changyi remained calm, unmoving on the city wall, merely looking down upon them with a commanding presence, making Qian Taiwen feel uneasy.

In a normal situation, when seeing an attack on the city, shouldn’t the archers be prepared? Is Xiao Changyi being too calm?

Or inside Jingye City, is the military force even more than his 800,000-strong army?

Although feeling unsettled inside, Qian Taiwen did not stop the assault. The Chilin army continued to advance closer to the north gate of Jingye City.

The soldiers on the city tower became even more tense. If it weren’t for Xiao Changyi, the Great General, not giving the order, they would have already started shooting arrows and launching stones.

Xiao Changyi remained expressionless until he saw the enemy forces approaching within the range of the catapults. Then he ordered, ”Archers and catapults, prepare.”

The archers and catapulteers immediately got ready, each catapult on the city gate was loaded with a large stone.

”Release!” With one word from Xiao Changyi, a rain of arrows and stones descended upon the enemy forces like a dark cloud.
