Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1485: Chapter 1486: Heaven’s Will, Ha...

Upon reaching the nearest mountain, An Jing and Ye Zhi first stopped their horse at a relatively secluded foot, and then, the two took down a package of explosives from the horse and entered the mountain.

They didn’t go too far into the mountain, just found a suitable place to place the explosives, and then, An Jing held the ignition line, and together with Ye Zhi, slowly exited the mountain.

Walking the horse a bit farther from the mountain, the ignition line was long enough, and with confirmation they should be within a safe range, An Jing then lit the fuse.

The fuse burned with a sizzling sound, becoming shorter and shorter, the flame coming closer to the explosives, An Jing and Ye Zhi lay on the ground, covering their ears with both hands, and once the fuse finished burning, the explosives were ignited, instantly producing a huge roar, shaking the earth and sky.

The earth shook and the mountains trembled!

The sound was too loud, the mountains shook violently, the ground trembled fiercely, scaring not only the mountain’s surrounding residents, but also the travelers passing by. Even Shuangli City, the nearest city to the mountain, also shook.

The people of Shuangli City heard the enormous sound as well.

Recently, the rhetoric about divine will had been spreading everywhere, and now, they truly experienced the earth shaking and mountains trembling. These people, who originally didn’t quite believe in divine will, now fully believed in it, kneeling one after another, clasping their hands, praying to heaven, begging for its forgiveness, promising to conform to divine will, and never defying it.

They were truly afraid of suffering divine retribution.

The event of the earth shaking and mountain trembling within Shuangli City’s borders quickly spread. Originally, Chilin was already full of grievances, and now, people were even more uneasy, fearing they might face divine retribution.

In the following three months, every few days, there would be an occurrence of earth shaking and mountain trembling within Chilin’s borders. In just three months, there were ten instances of earth shaking and mountain trembling, and both the mountains and the ground involved were extensive, making the people of Chilin truly believe that heaven was indeed furious.

Initially, when there were only one or two occurrences of earth shaking and mountain trembling, Emperor of Chilin would have people tell the populace it was the Earth Dragon turning over, not heaven’s wrath, urging everyone not to panic. But after ten occurrences... no one believed the words of Emperor of Chilin anymore.

Even Emperor of Chilin himself believed that it was heaven’s wrath.

However, Emperor of Chilin unlike everyone else, dared to defy divine will. Emperor of Chilin intended to defy the heavens, claiming this Chilin was his, dreaming that Xiyun would trample it flat! Heaven couldn’t take it away!

Other countries also heard of this matter, also believing it was heaven’s wrath, that divine will intended for Xiyun to destroy Chilin. How dare Chilin disobey; Chilin was just waiting to face divine retribution!

Some countries originally wanted a share in Xiyun’s flattening of Chilin, but now, since it was divine will, immediately no country wanted to share with Xiyun. They withdrew their covetous intentions, simply because they feared heaven might be furious with them too. It was better to act according to divine will.

Xiyun, from the populace to the soldiers, also heard of this matter, rejoicing in celebration. Soldiers had their morale greatly boosted, civil and military officials couldn’t contain their joy, and Emperor Su Chengyu exclaimed, ”Heaven has opened its eyes, divine grace blesses Xiyun!”

Those initially dispatched by Xiao Changyi to spread the rhetoric about divine will originally thought this was Xiao Changyi’s tactic, intending to unsettle the people of Chilin for better attacks, but unexpectedly, the earth really shook, and mountains trembled at ten places... They were first a bit stunned, and then also believed in the rhetoric about divine will.

They even believed that General Xiao Changyi genuinely possessed immense capabilities, able to foretell events.

From then, Emperor of Chilin could be summed up in four words, heavenly wrath and human resentment.

”Divine will, huh...” Gong Juechen sneered with disdain. His subordinates did inform him that the earth shaking and mountain trembling were caused by his Zhizhi and An Jing, not divine will at all.
