Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1471: Chapter 1472: Why do I feel like I’m being disliked?

The people on the city tower shot arrows at them, trying to prevent them from attacking the city. The soldiers of Chilin thought it was quite normal.

But what were those huge things?

Before the soldiers of Chilin could see clearly what it was, large stones were already crashing down on them.

Some were instantly crushed into the ground.

Some held up shields that could deflect arrows, but they couldn’t block the large stones falling from the sky. They too were crushed, either seriously injured or killed on the spot.

Watching as those hit by the stones had almost no chance of surviving...

The soldiers of Chilin were terrified, and Qian Taiwen was also terrified. At the same time, Qian Taiwen came to understand why Xiao Changyi was so calm earlier; it turns out he was waiting to crush them with stones when they got close.

But how did such large stones get hurled at them?

Although Qian Taiwen had this question, he didn’t have time to ponder. The army was being pounded by this stone rain and only dared to retreat, not to advance.

Yet, despite this, the losses were still heavy.

Looking at the many stones ahead, and the corpses of their own soldiers crushed beneath them, Qian Taiwen was horrified and felt this battle was too brutal.

But just to give up and not attack?

The thought had just crossed his mind when Qian Taiwen immediately shook his head inwardly and commanded loudly, ”Continue the attack, to die for the country is our honor!”

Qian Taiwen was the Great General for seizing the city; anyone who dared to flee would be immediately dealt with by him. So, no one dared to run away, and they bravely attacked the city again.

The rain of arrows and stones came down again, as long as they didn’t stop attacking the city, the rain of arrows and stones would not stop.

The number of dead increased, and Qian Taiwen became increasingly tragic.

Qian Taiwen led the people, almost stepping over their own soldiers’ corpses to attack the city.

Despite many casualties, Chilin’s battering ram was still pushed to the city gate.

On the city tower, Du Aya saw the battering ram dodging the stones and was about to hit the city gate, so she became even more anxious. She turned around to find an especially large stone, seemingly weighing three or four hundred pounds, and lifted it over her head.

”Make way! Make way!” Du Aya moved towards the exact spot above the gate.

The people on the city tower were stunned, not expecting Du Aya to have such strength.

However, the soldiers blocking Du Aya quickly stepped aside, allowing her to pass.

Xiao Changyi’s expression remained unchanged, but he was watching Du Aya.

Qi Gaoda was helping to move stones onto the trebuchet, letting them be thrown out, but upon seeing Du Aya lift a large stone, which even he might not have been able to lift, he was initially stunned. Then, worried that Du Aya might strain her back, he quickly went over to her side and asked urgently, ”A Ya, what are you doing? Let me help you.”

But Du Aya did not want his help and laughed heartily, ”Big brother, no need for your help. Just step aside a bit; I want to smash that battering ram. Let’s see how they can hit the gate after I smash it.”

Qi Gaoda: ”...” Why do I feel like I’m being disregarded?

Du Aya didn’t spare a moment to notice Qi Gaoda’s expression; once she reached the spot directly above the city gate, she first looked down, then aimed at the battering ram’s position, and threw the large stone in her hands down.

The three or four hundred-pound stone came crashing down from the city tower, heavily smashing onto the battering ram, and even though the ram had protection, it was still shattered.

Seeing this, the Xiyun soldiers immediately cheered, and Qi Tengfei quickly walked over, patting Du Aya heavily on the shoulder, and praised her joyfully, ”As expected of my daughter, A Ya, well done!”
