Chapter 1453: Chapter 1454: Your commander is dead; surrender immediately!

”Hahaha, dying at your hands, no shame, no shame hahaha...” Ma Da Gong laughed as he spat blood, looking at the pool of blood rapidly accumulating on the ground, shocking to behold.

Xiao Changyi did not say a word, nor did he look back at Ma Da Gong. He simply drew the longsword cleanly.

As the longsword was withdrawn, Ma Da Gong fell backward as if he had lost his support, dropping from the city wall and then heavily hitting the ground below the city tower.

If anyone checked, they would find that the face of Ma Da Gong, who had already stopped breathing, still held a smile.

Xiao Changyi did not turn back, but walked to the edge of the city wall, standing on it, holding the blood-dripping longsword, and coldly overlooking the Chilin soldiers still fighting against Xiyun inside the city, commanding in a voice that could shake mountains and rivers, ”Your commander is dead, why do you not surrender quickly!”

The death of the commander left the Chilin soldiers fighting like a headless flock, their spirits instantly collapsed.

The Chilin soldiers first looked at the ground, almost entirely covered in bodies, leaving no vacant space; among them, most were their comrades, with only a small portion being soldiers from Xiyun.

Clearly, their combat strength was no match for that of Xiyun.

And now their commander Ma Da Gong was dead...

The surviving Chilin soldiers looked at one another, then everyone simultaneously dropped their weapons and surrendered.

The Emperor of Chilin was too ruthless. Like Ma Da Gong, he treated them as less than human. They truly did not want to serve such a monarch from Chilin. It was just as well that their commander Ma Da Gong had died; they might as well surrender.

They had heard that the current Emperor of Xiyun, like the previous one, possessed a merciful heart, was diligent and loved his people. Citizens from various countries admired Xiyun for having such a monarch, allowing Xiyun’s people to live well, and now they too wished to join.

Previously the Emperor of Chilin was fine, but these past few years he had grown increasingly ruthless, and thus lost the people’s favor. Xiao Changyi and his men were not surprised at all by the Chilin soldiers’ swift surrender.

The black-clad fighters, Ye Zhi and the female soldiers, Qi Gaoda, and others had already fought their way to this point. Initially engaged in battle with Chilin soldiers, now that these soldiers had surrendered, they naturally ceased fighting.

As soon as they saw the Chilin soldiers surrender, the masked black-clad fighters sheathed their swords and withdrew.

”Hey, you all...” Ye Zhi wanted to ask who they were, but the black-clad fighters did not acknowledge her and simply left rapidly, disappearing from sight in no time.

Xiao Changyi watched those black-clad fighters depart, his cold eyes narrowing slightly.

Meng Zhuqing walked over and quietly reported, ”I just heard that those black-clad fighters suddenly emerged from the woods and came to help us defeat the enemy. Their skills are extremely high, able to fight a thousand alone. Thanks to them, our soldier losses weren’t significant.”

Even without Meng Zhuqing’s report, Xiao Changyi had noticed the high skills of those black-clad fighters.

Earlier, when he was dueling Ma Da Gong, he had seen that the black-clad fighters were dispatching enemies with one sword each, their method deft and swift; in the Xiyun military camp, few could probably match them.

Fortunately, they came to aid them. If they were their adversaries, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

At Jingye City’s West Gate, Qi Tengfei was still feigning an attack on the city.

At the West Gate, fifteen thousand Chilin soldiers stood guard. But the army was simply defending the city and would not come out to engage Qi Tengfei.
