Chapter 1498: Chapter 1499: You don’t know without comparison, but once you compare...

Wang Youbao took the small silver spoon from Li Wuyu’s hand, wiped it clean with a brocade handkerchief, and then placed the small silver spoon back into the wooden box.

Once the wooden box was closed, Wang Youbao took out a stack of silver notes from his chest and handed them to Li Wuyu: ”Here are fifty thousand taels, keep them with you in case you need them.”

Li Wuyu refused: ”The military camp gives me two taels of silver every month, and I haven’t used any of that silver yet. You don’t have to give me more; having so much money on me makes me afraid I might lose it.”

Seeing Li Wuyu’s insistence, Wang Youbao compromised, ”Then at least take one thousand taels; with so little silver on you, I can’t feel at ease.”

Li Wuyu saw that Wang Youbao was genuinely uneasy, so she agreed: ”Alright then.”

As soon as Wang Youbao heard Li Wuyu agree, he quickly took out a one-thousand-tael silver note from the fifty thousand and gave it to Li Wuyu, making her keep it, afraid she would change her mind.

Watching Wang Youbao’s actions, Li Wuyu didn’t find it funny at all; instead, she felt very sweet.

Once Wang Youbao put the remaining silver notes back inside his chest, he looked around again, and seeing that there was still no one around, he reached out and tightly held one of Li Wuyu’s hands.

Being outside, he couldn’t let go, so all he could do was hold her hand tightly.

After nearly three years of not seeing each other, he had been sleeping alone every night, he really missed this person.

Li Wuyu naturally missed Wang Youbao a lot as well, but when she noticed her hand intertwined with Wang Youbao’s, one dark and one fair, she instantly pulled a long face: ”Baby, ooh ooh... I actually got so much darker than you, I used to be fairer, look at our hands, this is...”

It wouldn’t have been noticeable without the comparison, but with the comparison...

Wang Youbao quickly consoled her: ”You’re just tanned a bit, nothing to worry about.” He didn’t mind, not at all.

Li Wuyu kept looking at their interlocked hands, still looking miserable: ”Our Deputy General isn’t this dark, it’s all because that palace doctor wouldn’t sell me Snow Skin Cream, otherwise, I wouldn’t have gotten this tanned.”

”Snow Skin Cream?”

”It’s an ointment that the palace doctor specially made for Ye Fujing to prevent him from tanning. I saw it worked well for Ye Fujing, so I asked the palace doctor to sell me some, but he asked for ten thousand taels for one bottle, I thought it was too expensive, so I didn’t buy it...”

”Our family isn’t short of money, just wait, I’ll buy you two bottles now.” Saying this, Wang Youbao got up and went to find Gong Juechen.

Before Li Wuyu could stop him, Wang Youbao was already up and leaving. Watching Wang Youbao’s back, Li Wuyu, who originally felt quite sad about being so much darker than Wang Youbao, suddenly felt happy, her heart especially sweet.

Her baby was really so good to her~

After spending twenty thousand taels to buy two small bottles of Snow Skin Cream from Gong Juechen, Wang Youbao handed them to Li Wuyu while gently reassuring her: ”Don’t be upset about this, it’s just a tan, you’ll get fairer again in the future. Even if you don’t, it doesn’t matter, I don’t mind at all. Don’t save on money like this in the future, our family has nothing else but plenty of money, buy whatever you want, okay?”

”Mhm, mhm~” Li Wuyu nodded happily.

Seeing that Li Wuyu was no longer fretting over her skin being darker, Wang Youbao felt relieved, then he became uneasy again: ”I think you should keep some more money on you, the way you’re saving, I—”

As he spoke, Wang Youbao felt particularly distressed and quickly took out more silver notes from his chest, intending to give them to Li Wuyu again.
