Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1474: Chapter 1475: Famous in the Military

Not wanting the wild beasts from the mountain to invade Jingye City, Xiao Changyi ordered people to quickly retrieve the floating bridge planks from the river.

At the same time, Xiao Changyi also ordered people to build a fire pile at least six meters wide around the river to prevent some beasts that could cross the river from invading Jingye City.

When the fire pile was lit, Xiao Changyi quietly stood outside the fire, looking across to the other side of the fire pile, where many corpses floated in the five-meter wide river, the bright red blood had already stained the river water, making it extremely shocking.

On the side of the mountain near the river, more and more beasts appeared, there was even a tiger.

The beasts rarely fought with each other, all of them were searching for food, eating the corpses.

The Chilin soldiers who could escape had fled, those who couldn’t became prey for the beasts. Even though a long time had passed, the beasts had no intention of leaving, after filling their bellies, they stayed by the mountainside, planning to eat again when they got hungry.

Xiao Changyi watched calmly, while Meng Zhuqing and the others watched with disgust.

”This fire cannot be extinguished.” With so many corpses and the beasts having discovered them, they would not leave anytime soon. Xiao Changyi instructed that the fire pile must not be extinguished before he turned to leave.

With many beasts across the fire stack, Meng Zhuqing dared not lead people to handle the corpses on the other side of the fire stack, instead, he just led them to deal with the corpses inside Jingye City.

The corpses outside the north gate were handled by Qi Tengfei and his people.

This time, Xiao Changyi lost over five hundred soldiers, as for Chilin... the initial estimate was nearly fifty thousand casualties.

An Jing and Ye Zhi locked themselves inside Xilin City to research explosives, they would not have known Chilin was attacking Jingye City today if it weren’t for the thunderous sounds of battle.

Though there were stone throwers, An Jing felt there shouldn’t be a problem defending the city, yet she still couldn’t help but worry.

Upon learning that Jingye City was held, and seeing her husband safely appear in front of her, her heart finally settled down completely.

However, upon learning that many people had died again, An Jing sighed: ”In war, deaths are truly inevitable.”

Ye Zhi also let out a sigh.

After sighing, Ye Zhi said: ”Boss, fortunately, our explosives are almost ready. Hopefully, there will really be fewer deaths in the future.”

No matter how inevitable deaths were, like An Jing, she really did not like seeing scenes of corpses strewn about, blood flowing like rivers.

An Jing sighed again before saying to Xiao Changyi: ”Husband, you can send people to infiltrate the cities of Chilin now.”

And what for? It’s naturally to spread the rumor that ’Xiyun’s conquering of Chilin is also the will of heaven’.

An Jing and Xiao Changyi had talked about it before, upon hearing An Jing mention it, Xiao Changyi replied: ”Hmm.”

Then, An Jing and Ye Zhi went to check on the female soldiers.

Followed by Tobanya.

Since Tobanya followed An Jing, she had not participated in the hard battle to defend the city this time.

But the other nine female soldiers all participated, especially Du Aya, who stood out remarkably.

Baoqin, Lie Qi, Ting Shu, and Shi Hua were on the north gate tower as archers today. They specialized in archery and killed quite a few Chilin soldiers today.

Other male archers naturally did not dare to underestimate these four.

Due to her strength, Du Aya was assigned to help throw stones in the north gate tower. Later, she became famous in the army for smashing an enemy’s battering ram with a stone weighing three to four hundred pounds.

Among the female soldiers, Du Aya’s fame was the greatest at present.

Li Wuyu, Su Chengyuan, Shi Shi, and Liu Feifei were on the east side, repelling enemies with Qi Weimeng and his team. Their performance was not inferior to the male soldiers at all, even surpassing some officers.
