COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

“So this is what happened.”

“The Student council will make inquiries. Once the criminal is found, he will be given the appropriate punishment. The school’s atmosphere needs to be maintained,” Vice President Kiriyama met with Suzune and Kushida Kikyo who came to report.

Vice President looks serious, going according to the rules.

But it always gives people a feeling of prevarication.

“This is because the president is away, people are making trouble,” Kushida actually looked down upon this Kiriyama, for some reason she didn’t like him at all.

In fact, if Kushida were really asked to face the student council president Horikita Manabu, she would actually be a bit timid.

After all, she didn’t know that Suzune was other party’s sister, and she herself asked him to be a witness to watch bet that was meant to bully his cute little....yeah

Looking back, Kushida feels that she was too bold and stupid.

Fortunately, Horikita Suzune is an idiot and brother didn’t cause trouble for her.

“I hope my brother and the others do well in this special exam,” Suzune who is still under effect of her brother complex.

“• •” Kushida-chan, ’Oh, really? Why did you have to mention that now?!’

“It is now the 20th, and two days have passed since my brother went out for the exam.....”

“....” Kushida-chan, “Okay, okay, then our work is done. Would you like to go out for dinner together next?”

“No need, I can cook myself,” Suzune was very cold to her, “I’m going back.”

’Now that we’ve all come out together, it’s time for dinner in a while, and you, Horikita Suzune, said you’d cook, so why don’t you make a bite for me?’

So, Kushida doesn’t like Suzune.

There is no humanity at all.

After sending news of end of the report to Hikigaya-kun, Kushida-san and Suzune left together.

As for Hachiman, he did not go to Suzune’s room for dinner at night.

He is asking Ichinose to sign the agreement. A fountain pen was given to her.

This agreement is very important, representing the future direction and most of one’s life.

So Ichinose held the pen but hesitated to write.

“I know this kind of agreement is not easy to sign,” Hikigaya-kun was happily putting more pressure on her buffoon head, “After all, Ichinose-san, you don’t like me either. I still have self-awareness.”

“Ugh...” This sentence caused Ichinose to be attacked again, “Actually, I didn’t say I didn’t like Hikigaya-kun....How should I put it? Some of it was just too shocking!”

Because Ichinose is still in a confused state until now.

Because her secret was leaked, the first thing she wanted was to drop out of school.

If she dropped out of school with this stain on her, she would not be used as a tool to attack the class.

And because trusted the wrong person, she did not get salvation.

You should also leave school and return to where you came from.

However, now she continues to stay in Hikigaya-kun’s room.

Then she looked at marriage application form that had been signed and stamped.

Although she was still a high school student, it was her first time looking at a marriage registration form.

”Is this... we’re going to get married after signing our names?” Ichinose raised her head gently, “Hikigaya-kun, do you think it’s really okay to structure your marriage like this? Or have you gone through something that has caused you to give up on relationships?”

“• •”

’Ichinose is indeed unusual.....’ Hachiman thought she would say something to reject him, but it turned out that she was concerned about whether he took marriage too lightly.

“Actually, I don’t like going to work. A marriage contract is just a bondage.”

“I want to be a househusband.”

“As for love and friendship, I once wanted them, but I have given up.”

“Because, most of the so-called friendships, so-called mutual understanding, and so-called mutual respect are choices made by people after weighing the pros and cons. They are just an illusion.”

“But people just like to indulge in this false relationship. And to me, it is a worthless ’fake’”

Careful boy, your inner thoughts are leaking out now!

“A fake… thing… huh?” Ichinose pondered over his choice of words.

“I once wanted a pure human relationship, where nothing can be said and still conveyed, nothing can be done and still understood, and nothing can be destroyed no matter what happens.”

“Of course, you can understand that this is just my arrogant fantasy, but I still want to believe in existence of the real thing.”

“Philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer mentioned in The Wisdom of Life that many connections between people are based on various hidden selfish motives.”

“We handle interpersonal relationships with great care, observing people’s expressions and words, and acting with caution. We often pretend to understand each other, but choose to remain silent when disagreements arise.”

“When we interact with others, we put on a mask, hiding some of our true thoughts and maintaining this fragile illusion.”

“These are things that are everywhere but I don’t care about them.”

“What I care about is things that won’t change, don’t need to be compromised, and even things that support each other. But these things are hard to come by, so I choose something more direct, which is reality.”

Reality.

Except for the relationship that is not blood but can be bound.

That’s marriage.

Ichinose nodded slightly, she understands Hikigaya-kun a little bit now.

When she first entered school, she just thought that Hikigaya-kun was a very smart person and someone who was willing to help her.

But look now. ’Hikigaya-kun...maybe he is a person with a more profound mind.’

“I can’t deny your view on friendship,” Ichinose was still a very good hopeful angel, “But I don’t think it’s okay to be so pessimistic.”

“So, Ichinose, do you think love before marriage is meaningful?” Hachiman wouldn’t even let her try to corrupt his views.

“Love...”

“Does being in love guarantee that you will get married in the future, Ichinose Honami-san?”

“Eto……Hikigaya-kun...”

This cannot be guaranteed.

Because if love means marriage, there wouldn’t be so many people dating and then breaking up.

Even relationships with the purpose of getting married do not necessarily lead to marriage.

“I won’t use this agreement to threaten you,“ Hachiman was not an evil person secretly like some people guessed, “Ichinose-san, you can think of this as an investment in you. Just like you saw now, there is also an agreement from Kushida-san in the cabinet.”

“I can only marry one person. So maybe after graduation, I might marry Kushida.”

“But I can also give you 20 million points to be promoted, and eventually graduate with Class A. After you go to college, get a better diploma, and get a job, you can accumulate enough points and return them to me.”

Forehead.

Ichinose then realized maybe she was being too sentimental. ’Hikigaya-kun didn’t like me, but... he would marry anyone who met his requirements. It seems very excessive...’

Ichinose finally understood.

Hikigaya-kun is helping her.

“Um...Arigato, Hikigaya-kun.” Ichinose then held marriage registration form tightly, “You are such a good person...”

“…..” He got a good guy card for no apparent reason.

In fact, Hikigaya-kun also has selfish motives.

Because as long as Ichinose signed her name, it meant that she agreed in her heart there was a possibility of marrying him in the future.

And this is something that Hikigaya feels she cannot refuse.

After all, such people are kind-hearted and beautiful archangels, and no one hates them.

So compared to little angel Kushida, Hachiman is actually a little shaken.

Even if it doesn’t work out in the end, it doesn’t matter, because she has been given the opportunity to move up, and he believes that she will make good use of the resources, so there will definitely be development in the future.

So that’s investing.

It can be considered a good relationship, just like when he tricked Sakayanagi into going after the student council president, it was also a good relationship.

This is a win-win.

Ichinose had already signed the marriage registration form and handed it over.

Hachiman took a look at it and put it in the cabinet, “Would you like some tea now?”

After all, he had come to his own dormitory, so Hikigaya still knew how to be polite and treat his guests well.

Of course, it’s fine if Kushida comes over.

She basically wouldn’t come to his room, saying it would be bad to be misunderstood.

“Tea.....I may need something more strong after that,” Ichinose really was not easy to please.

Hachiman went to the kitchenette to make her some coffee with a little bit of brandy.

Perhaps because she suddenly had some free time, Ichinose looked at Hikigaya’s room with some curiosity.

The style of everyone’s room is similar, but Hikigaya’s is very clean and tidy.

’It’s a little hard to believe this is a boy’s room.’

’But Hikigaya-kun is the type with a more mature mindset, so he’s probably also good at taking care of others......’ As she was thinking this, Ichinose noticed Hikigaya-kun coming over and bringing her some coffee.

Ichinose quickly took it with both hands.

“Wait a moment, it’s quite hot, hold the coaster underneath as well.”

”Oh, okay.” Ichinose nodded obediently. ’Then I see Hikigaya-kun go to the small kitchen again, seemingly considering whether to prepare some snacks for me....’

Ichinose suddenly felt this kind of life was not bad...

’Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Bad Honami!

Don’t think like that.

Hikigaya-kun was just helping me.’

After Ichinose found out that she had signed the marriage registration form, her mentality changed a little.

But there was nothing she could do.

Because although she knew that Hikigaya-kun was helping her, it was also a fact their names were written on the same marriage registration form.

So, it is impossible to pretend that nothing happened.

She also felt that if Hikigaya-kun liked her, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if they really got married in the future.
