Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 224: Chapter 206: The Plant Stopped Growing?

Lou Fei’Er had already finished breakfast. Seeing Xu Xin walking towards her, she immediately stood up and took a step back, looking at him warily: ”What are you doing? I can walk on my own now, don’t put me into the bracelet!”

”...You’re overthinking it.”

There’s still more than an hour before nine o’clock, can’t just sit around.

Xu Xin took out the decorations he had taken from her previous tree house from his backpack and placed them in the parasitic tree house 01.

Either they were rosewood furniture or props purchased from the points mall. His tree house already had these decorations, and they couldn’t increase the decoration score repeatedly, so he could only put them here.

”Ah! You brought over the decorations I bought from the points mall!” Lou Fei’Er exclaimed with some surprise.

After placing the decorations in the tree house, a notification sounded in his ear, indicating that the decoration score of the tree house reached 102. This was actually higher than Lou Fei’Er’s original decoration score because the parasitic tree house could enjoy a 20% decoration score bonus.

Although the owner of this parasitic tree house is Lou Fei’Er, as the master tree house owner, he can still use all the functions of the tree house, and even the notifications are audible to him.

He was increasingly able to feel the immense authority of the master tree house owner.

The first floor of the low tree house was only about twenty-five square meters, quite small, but carving out a ten-square-meter energy room wasn’t a problem. Xu Xin immediately made a round wooden wall, placed in the middle of the tree house, dividing the parasitic tree house 01 into two parts of 15 square meters and 10 square meters.

The 15 square meters part included the tree house screen and the currently energizing tree house core, perfectly serving as an energy room and living room.

The other half also had over ten square meters and could equally be set up as a functional area.

This was a good setup, and when other people’s tree houses were transplanted later, their first floors could be set like this, allowing every parasitic tree house to have an energy room.

”What’s going on, itching to help me redecorate?” Lou Fei’Er asked, somewhat puzzled.

Xu Xin immediately crafted an [Energy Room Wooden Sign] and hung it on the wall.

[Detected the presence of an Energy Room Wooden Sign in the room, would you like to designate this room as an Energy Room? Once designated, it cannot be changed within seven days, please carefully consider your choice.]

”From now on, this room will be the energy room.” Saying this, he chose yes and allocated 50% amplification points to the energy room.

On the ground, the core originally emitting soft white light suddenly became brighter.

Lou Fei’Er was momentarily stunned, then glared at Xu Xin with fiery eyes: ”...You! You used up my decoration score without asking!”

She could also hear the notification just now, and before she could react, Xu Xin had already completed the energy room setup and used the decoration score.

”I left half of the decoration score for you, the tree house has a second floor, which is enough for you.” Xu Xin touched the glowing tree house core.

Sure enough, the charging time was shortened significantly, equating to a 50% increase in speed.

Not bad, this previously required 5 days to produce a purple-level resource, and now the total time was 3 days and 8 hours.

However, for this world, it was still considered a relatively long wait, let alone the multiple purple-level resources needed for many tools.

”You...”

”If you behave well, after handling district 187, when your tree house is transplanted, it will still be yours.”

”Hmm...” Lou Fei’Er instantly quieted down, muttering in a low voice, ”You’re like our boss, always making empty promises.”

”Alright, let’s go.”

”Okay.”

He led Lou Fei’Er out of the parasitic tree house.

Although Lou Fei’Er had already seen this desolate landscape from the tree house window, she couldn’t help but marvel once she was outside: ”Ridiculous, in just over ten minutes, all the leaves fell. It really looks like deep autumn. Oh, you have to install a fireplace in my tree house, or I’ll freeze to death!”

”Do it yourself after you recover from your weakness.”

”Once I recover, I’ll just stay in the master tree house and never leave!”

”Oh?” Xu Xin raised his left hand, showing the bracelet on his wrist.

”...I was just joking.” Lou Fei’Er surrendered instantly.

The two walked to the master tree house.

At this moment, Mimi just woke up and poked her head out of the ground hole.

”Eep!” Keke greeted Mimi, who responded with a crisp call.

”Wow! Is this...a pangolin?!” Lou Fei’Er was seeing Mimi for the first time and was startled.

Soon, two little creatures also climbed out with Mimi. Compared to the previous day, they were already about the same size as Keke.

”Hmm?? Little pangolins? So cute, you have everything here, don’t you?” Lou Fei’Er immediately approached.

Previously, she didn’t really like these small animals, but ever since the mutation, she didn’t know why she had changed her opinion.

Mimi didn’t stop Lou Fei’Er from picking up the little ones. As mutated creatures and contract beasts, it could sense that this woman was one of them.

However, the little ones seemed unwilling and weren’t as obediently quiet as when Xu Xin held them, instead struggling vigorously.

”Ah!” Lou Fei’Er was knocked over by the struggling little pangolin, falling onto the ground.

The little ones immediately broke free from the still weak Lou Fei’Er without even giving her a glance, burrowing back into the hole and making some childish calls outside.

The two little pangolins weren’t blood-marked mutant beasts nor contract beasts, so naturally, they wouldn’t have any fondness for Lou Fei’Er. But they very much enjoyed being held by Xu Xin, further proving his innate ability to attract exotic creatures.

”Hmph, if you won’t hold me, forget it then.” Lou Fei’Er stood up and brushed the dust off her buttocks, expressing her dissatisfaction.

”Alright, let’s go up.” Xu Xin had been observing the reactions of his beloved and the two little ones, so he didn’t stop Lou Fei’Er’s actions.

Using the roots, he pulled Lou Fei’Er into the third layer of the tree house, letting her sit obediently on the sofa, and instructed Mimi Silver King to restrain her if she dared to wander around.

Ignoring Lou Fei’Er’s resentful look, Xu Xin went downstairs to the second layer, arriving at the workshop.

He took out the green-grade steel blocks, preparing to make some steel framework structures. He intended to build a small wooden cabin under the tree house to cultivate the Red Mist flower.

[Steel Framework Structure (Green): The foundational framework for all constructions, essential material for building structures outside the tree house. Requires steel block (green) *1]

Xu Xin had plenty of green-grade steel blocks in his hand, so he directly made twenty steel framework structures.

Each steel framework was akin to a rebar structure, one meter long, looking very sturdy, feeling like it could be used as a weapon.

Arriving under the tree house, Xu Xin made round timber walls and placed them using the steel framework structure, and indeed, this time, the timber walls could be set.

”Snap!”

A wooden wall was placed under the tree house, consuming three portions of the steel framework structure.

Xu Xin continuously made four wooden walls, opened windows on two of them, installed glass windows, and made the roof eaves. Just like that, a simple small wooden cabin was completed.

”Not bad.” Xu Xin looked at the small wooden cabin he built in a few minutes and nodded in satisfaction.

The entire cabin was under the canopy of the tree house, located in the shade of the canopy.

Xu Xin walked into the cabin and took out his [Red Mist Flower Seed].

[Red Mist Flower Seed: Plant in fertile soil or higher grade soil to grow into a flower that releases red mist. A flower with magical powers!]

There were three seeds in total and they had to be planted in higher grade soil.

Previously, when seeing the Red Mist flowers underground, all three were crowded into one patch of soil, so these three seeds only needed one piece of fertile soil.

Fortunately, there was still a piece of blue-grade soil outside the tree house, and Xu Xin transferred this fertile soil (blue) into the small wooden cabin, planting all three Red Mist flower seeds on this patch of soil.

[Red Mist Flower seed planted successfully, growth time remaining: two hours]

Two-hour fast growth plants!

Xu Xin squinted his eyes slightly.

He had only encountered two types of seeds capable of rapid growth before.

One was the tree house seed, and the other was the plant heart seed. Both were crucial for the survival of survivors.

Could this Red Mist flower be the same? Aside from enhancing mutated beast abilities, does it also benefit the survivors?

A seedling had already sprouted from the soil, quickly growing into a verdant plant.

Xu Xin walked out of the cabin and went into the surrounding jungle.

At this moment, the jungle was completely devoid of its previous vitality, all the trees and shrubs were bare, the grass on the ground was yellowed, covered with a thick layer of fallen leaves, presenting a desolate scene.

”Can we still plant outdoors at this temperature?” Xu Xin suddenly thought of a serious issue.

Although autumn is a harvest season, it’s certainly not a growing season!

He started by chopping down a poplar tree. Luckily, although all its leaves had fallen off, the materials were still intact.

Then, he planted a poplar tree seed in this piece of green-grade ordinary soil, a small seedling gradually broke through the soil, and then under Xu Xin’s gaze, it slowly wilted, becoming somewhat shriveled.

? !

Xu Xin immediately touched this seedling.

[Poplar Seedling (Green): Only takes ten days to grow into a poplar tree. Currently halted in growth due to environmental reasons.]

Growth has paused!

Environmental reasons, it must be due to unsuitable temperature.

The temperature around now was lower compared to the earlier time, dropping to the range of five to six degrees a few dozen minutes ago.

Wearing his purple-grade Scale Armor, Xu Xin didn’t feel the cold, but he knew that this temperature was already very low; in Earth’s southern provinces, even winters don’t reach such lows.

This is already nearing the temperature of a refrigerator’s cold compartment! His fourth-layer refrigerator now seemed somewhat redundant.

He felt that if the trend continued, even his ice cellar might appear redundant.

However, fortunately, within this half hour, the temperature hadn’t continued dropping, and with the sun rising, the surrounding temperatures were gradually rising.

Actually, poplar is a very low-temperature-resistant tree house plant. Once fully grown, it won’t freeze to death even at negative thirty to forty degrees, but the poplar seedlings aren’t as resilient; they need spring and summer suitable temperatures to grow.

By the way, what about other plants?

Xu Xin tried planting apple trees, apricot trees, and other trees, but unfortunately, they all paused in growth due to environmental reasons.

...In this jungle now, not only is there no food, but even plants can’t grow?
