Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 205: Chapter 192: Mutation! (4000 words!)_2

Perfect, I’ll bring back her seed along with her treehouse then.

Xu Xin didn’t waste any more words with her and swung his halberd again!

It must be said, a halberd is indeed more effective than a spear. A spear can only pierce, which isn’t suitable against someone as agile as Lou Fei’Er, but a sweeping halberd strike is tremendously powerful, leaving her on the opposite side visibly shocked.

Lou Fei’Er barely dodged another strike but lost her balance and fell to the ground. Seeing the opportunity, Xu Xin thrust directly at her, but she immediately rolled on the ground.

The halberd cut across her arm and stabbed straight into the floor of the treehouse.

”Crack!” The floor was pierced without resistance, creating a big hole. The green-grade treehouse floor stood no chance against a purple-grade weapon.

”Stop! Stop! We can work together! Don’t attack!” Lou Fei’Er yelled urgently, her arm marked by a bloody scratch.

”I don’t cooperate with someone who wants to kill me.” Xu Xin continued swinging the halberd, speaking coldly.

After scratching Lou Fei’Er’s arm, he felt a slight warmth flowing into him through the halberd handle.

Is this the effect of the purple-grade steel halberd!

”I don’t want to kill you anymore! I can’t kill you anyway!” Lou Fei’Er kept trying to jump out the window, but was blocked each time by Xu Xin’s halberd. Moreover, all her equipment had been confiscated by Xu Xin, leaving her unarmed and desperately dodging inside the treehouse.

”Bang!” Xu Xin again slashed a long dent into the treehouse wall.

His brows furrowed.

This Lou Fei’Er, how is she able to dodge so well?

How is her reaction so swift? If it were him, having to dodge such extensive attacks in a two or three square meter room without any weapons would be impossible.

Her strength doesn’t seem very high, indicating her physical abilities haven’t been enhanced much, so how is she so agile?

”Stop! Stop!” Lou Fei’Er’s voice was no longer as forceful. Though she narrowly dodged Xu Xin’s attacks each time, she had already been scratched multiple times, making her already tattered clothes even worse.

Having her life force absorbed several times by the steel halberd, Lou Fei’Er was noticeably slower, and her legs were even trembling a bit.

”Haven’t you realized that we’re in a selection process!” Lou Fei’Er suddenly shouted, causing Xu Xin to pause his attack temporarily.

”What do you want to say?”

Seeing Xu Xin stop, Lou Fei’Er could no longer bear it and slumped to the ground, ”You... your weapon, what exactly is it... why am I so powerless...”

Xu Xin suddenly thrust his halberd again, and she immediately used all her strength to dodge to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack once more.

This time, she was cornered.

Xu Xin truly had no intention of torturing captives; he genuinely wanted to kill her. But this woman managed to dodge every one of his attacks, which was extremely absurd, and it was starting to annoy him.

”Don’t... don’t!” Lou Fei’Er slumped on the ground, seeing that Xu Xin didn’t attack again, she quickly said, ”You must know, we’re in a selection process! If there’s an elimination, isn’t this a selection!”

”So what?” Xu Xin remained impassive, having known this long before.

”So what’s the problem with me killing people!” Lou Fei’Er struggled to stand, her legs trembling slightly, her face pale from having her life force absorbed, glaring fiercely at Xu Xin, ”Only a few will remain in the end; is eliminating threats beforehand a problem? Moreover...”

She looked hesitant, unsure if she should continue.

Xu Xin’s halberd was immediately placed across her neck, causing her to shiver.

”And what, continue.”

Sparks flickered in Lou Fei’Er’s eyes until the halberd was about to slice her neck when she finally spoke in a low voice, ”Moreover, our district leader, Zhang Daoguang, once privately messaged us the top ten on the leaderboard. He told us, you, the people from other districts, are enemies; we would eventually clash and should kill one whenever we see one, never leave any alive.”

Xu Xin’s gaze grew heavier.

No wonder.

Back when he talked with Le Youfang, he found it strange. During previous events, none of the big shots from their District 187 lent a hand, so why did they help during this defensive war?

Before, helping only involved saying a few words, and they couldn’t be bothered. This time, it required dividing nearly ten tons of mutated plant heart fragments and distributing them, which was far more time-consuming and laborious than before.

It seems Zhang Daoguang, like Ji Chaoyang, likely obtained some information and knew there would be inter-regional conflicts in the future, prompting him to mend the fence after the sheep were lost, saving as many as possible.

Then he informed the experts in his region, letting them deplete the resources of other regions.

As for not telling Le Youfang and others, that’s normal. Like Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang’s considerations, firstly, they feared revealing the news would cause chaos. Secondly, considering their strength, going to other’s territory would just be sending themselves to death.

Could it be, actually, that someone in every region receives this information?

Perhaps, each district has only one person. Just like in their district, only Ji Chaoyang, the first to venture out, experienced this. Whether this person shares the information with others affects the development direction of the region.

Seeing that Xu Xin wasn’t very surprised, Lou Fei’Er guessed he had already known this information. She gave a bitter smile, no wonder, no wonder he was determined to kill her; turns out he knew that different regions didn’t belong to the same camp.

Does it mean she has to resort to that method?

She really didn’t want to turn into that monstrous appearance.

Xu Xin’s halberd suddenly moved, slicing across her neck.

In an instant, under the extremely sharp blade of the halberd, almost half of Lou Fei’Er’s neck was severed, a torrent of blood gushed from her neck. Her face ghostly pale, she glared fiercely at Xu Xin, and finally, with a thud, fell to the ground, motionless.

Blood flowed across the treehouse floor, covering the entire surface.

Xu Xin sighed.

It was his first time killing a person, and it didn’t feel good at all.

However, he didn’t seem to feel disgusted. After all, he had killed numerous beasts and mutated creatures and seen so much blood. Too many people have died in this event, and he had become desensitized to death.

Better clean it up.

It’s a pity, her appearance was indeed outstanding.

Suddenly, a sense of danger surged in Xu Xin’s heart. It’s a feeling he hadn’t experienced in a long time, a warning signal from his body when facing strong mutated creatures!

”What’s going on?” Xu Xin felt his eyelids twitch and immediately checked the map.

On the map, a bright red dot was with him inside Parasite Treehouse 02! This red dot was already brighter than those of mid-level mutated beasts!

Xu Xin immediately turned to look at Lou Fei’Er’s ”corpse” on the ground!

Lou Fei’Er’s previously motionless body began to tremble slightly, and faint blood patterns emerged on her skin!

”Damn! A zombie?!” Xu Xin’s face changed dramatically, and without hesitation, he lunged with the halberd!

Yet before the attack landed, the ”corpse” sprung up from the ground, dodging Xu Xin’s attack with lightning speed and with a ”bang,” slammed into the wall of the treehouse, causing the entire structure to shake!

But Lou Fei’Er wasn’t harmed; she steadied her form, crouched, and made her hands claw-shaped, resembling a wild cat about to attack, staring at Xu Xin with her now tinted blood-red eyes, breathing heavily.

From the rips on her clothes, unable to cover her body completely, it was visible that her entire body was covered in blood patterns, even her face bore two thick blood lines, slashing through her forehead and cheek.

The horrific wound on her neck was now just a shallow mark, and the scratches on her body had completely healed.

She’s mutated?! A mutated human?

However, she seemed different from those mutated humans underground...

Before Xu Xin could snap out of his shock, the mutated Lou Fei’Er suddenly charged at Xu Xin!

”I’m going to kill you!”
