Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 221: Chapter 205: Cooling Down, Fallen Leaves (4,200 words!)

The next day, he was awakened by a cold breeze blowing in through the crack of the ajar window.

”Hiss—so cold!” Xu Xin sat up from the bed.

Beside him, Keke didn’t seem to feel anything. It turned over, muttered softly, hugged its big tail, and continued sleeping.

He glanced at the time; it was already close to seven in the morning, yet the sky outside was still dark.

”What’s going on?” Xu Xin rubbed his somewhat cold arms and frowned.

Last night he had used saltpeter (blue) to cool down the bedroom, the basin of ice on the floor hadn’t even melted yet, so how could it suddenly become so cold today?

He had a bad feeling.

The regional channel was very lively at the moment.

”Why did it suddenly get so cold today?”

”And also, it’s already seven o’clock and still not light; could it have suddenly turned to winter?”

”Quite possible, oh my, I don’t have any thick clothes, what should I do?”

”No big deal, just make a fireplace; it’s just a pile of stones, now no one should be lacking green-level stones, right?”

”A kiln requires a hundred units of green-level stones... Anyway, I can’t make it now.”

”Oh well, just go out and pick them up, you can always find them, isn’t the creek full of green-level stones? Don’t panic, it’s not a big deal. I’m more curious, do you guys want to join the explorers’ bigshots?”

”Of course, definitely go! Going means being sheltered by the bigshots, helping with tasks, and getting more advanced resources, why not go? I am just waiting for the bigshots to come and take me away!”

”That’s right, if Boss Ji hadn’t said not to wander off yesterday, I would have gone looking for them myself!”

”But isn’t it said you’ll be restricted...”

”What benefit do the bigshots get from restricting us? Anyway, I’m definitely going. If it weren’t for the explorers’ guides and help, I don’t know how many times I would have died.”

”I’ll pass, I still want to control my own fate, I don’t want to depend on others anymore.”

”This brother has a story, huh.”

It seems most people are quite supportive of their actions, willing to follow along directly.

Not bad.

But what is going on with today’s cold?

Xu Xin flicked open Lou Fei’Er’s watch; people on the regional channel of District 187 were also discussing the sudden cold weather. At least the nearby areas were all like this.

He walked to the window, opened the ajar window, a gust of cold wind hit him, making the room’s temperature drop even further.

”Fie!” Keke shivered from the sudden cold wind, jumped up from the bed, looked at Xu Xin, then tilted its head, ”Fie fie?”

It really got colder.

The temperature outside now is likely only about ten degrees. Although not too low, it had been close to thirty degrees yesterday!

This temperature drop, that mysterious voice didn’t even give any hints.

Previously, whether it was rainy seasons or dungeons, there would be at least one hint of an event name, why is it now, completely gone?

Could it be the second phase has no more clear events?

Maybe indeed it’s so. Perhaps disasters, beast tides will still occur, but explicit events are no longer there, which might have been just the first phase’s mode, also a benefit for beginners, after all, you could prepare in advance and get some advantages from activities.

However, if it’s really like this, then at least not every event will have fixed deaths.

If every future event still results in fifty deaths, with the current number of survivors, it would be unaffordable, and it would cause teams to fall apart.

After all, pushing others into trouble is much easier than making efforts yourself.

Swiping through the watch, he found that early, Li Wenxi had sent him a private message.

”Xu Xin, what time are you coming today? Be careful, maybe our protection zones aren’t connected. By the way, it’s so cold today!”

Xu Xin had long set permissions among the explorers, allowing them to initiate voice and video calls with him, private messages would also have vibrations, but probably due to last night’s artistic endeavors, Li Wenxi’s private message hadn’t woken him.

He replied: ”After nine o’clock, let’s take a look at the situation first, today’s temperature drop is unusual, perhaps there’ll be new activities.”

He got up for washing, put on his Scale Armor suit.

Gotta admit, a purple-level suit is indeed a purple-level suit, though the Scale Armor suit looks icy cold, wearing it feels rather comfortable, surprisingly able to provide warmth.

Li Wenxi then replied: ”Okay, I also suppose we should wait, if there’s an event, there should be a notice by nine.”

Xu Xin: ”Hmm, if there’s no event, I’ll come find you after nine.”

Since yesterday was still very hot, he had opened the windows on several layers of his living room. Although there were tree crowns outside for shading, the cold wind seeped in, making the whole indoor temperature drop a lot.

He threw some coal into the fireplace, and it instantly blazed vigorously, then he closed all the windows, the temperature in the treehouse soon returned to normal.

This fireplace, he made it when he first built the treehouse, today it’s finally truly useful. Previously, its sole utility was absorbing grease smoke when grilling meat.

Silver King and Mimi both have relatively thick fur, so they’re unfazed by temperature changes, lazily lying on the ground.
