Chapter 580: Chapter 580: Urgent Situation, Provoking Public Anger

”Report...”

Just as Cheng Yusu was lost in his thoughts, an urgent message arrived. A reporter burst into the city tower hall saying, ”Commander Cheng, the 66th Army led by Ning Jingjing has sent a Message Bird, the situation is extremely critical, it is truly...”

”Stop...”

As the reporter was about to reveal the content of Ning Jingjing’s message, Cheng Yusu immediately shouted him down and then sat up straight.

”Ning Jingjing can really hold on; it’s been six hours since the chaos started, and she can still send messages, still not dead.”

”Heh, extremely critical, is it? Good urgency!”

”Now, follow me to the city wall. I want you to announce Ning Jingjing’s urgent message in front of the Long Night Army. I will tell the Long Night Black Burning Army that the consequence of resisting me is that even if they hold on until death, I will not come to their rescue.”

”Ning Jingjing, die in despair.”

Having said that, Cheng Yusu stood up and walked briskly towards the direction of the city wall.

The reporter was stunned, thinking Cheng Yusu was being too ruthless, but hesitates a moment and then said, ”Commander Cheng, actually...”

”Shut up, you think a mere messenger has the right to advise me? Believe it or not, I will chop off your head?” Cheng Yusu thought this messenger might also want to resist him, so he immediately stopped him from saying anything further.

It was useless for anyone to persuade him; Cheng Yusu wouldn’t send troops to rescue Ning Jingjing, not showing any mercy.

He meant to instill such fear in the Long Night Black Burning Army that they would be petrified.

This messenger was just another soldier; it didn’t matter to them who was the commander.

However, the messenger had experienced the periods when Dark Wings temporarily commanded power, initially not daring to resist anything, but now felt enraged at heart from being so harshly threatened by Cheng Yusu.

He immediately fell silent, not correcting Cheng Yusu’s misunderstanding.

The thing called Ning Jingjing begging desperately for help didn’t happen at all; the content of Ning Jingjing’s message was not like this.

Thus, Cheng Yusu took the messenger up to the city wall, his voice loud so the Long Night Army could listen well.

Seeing that all the Long Night Army had stood up, Cheng Yusu then nodded satisfactorily towards the messenger and said with a cold laugh, ”Now, you can announce General Ning’s urgent message, remember to speak loudly...”

The messenger took a deep breath, amplifying his voice with True Qi.

”General Ning of the 66th Army has sent an urgent message: she has successfully captured Youmei State City as per Commander Cheng’s instructions...”

”The message emphasized ’extremely critical’, a fleeting opportunity, requesting Commander Cheng to immediately send reinforcements to stringently strike at Lu Lungan.”

Upon hearing these words, a murmur arose from beneath the city wall, and the Long Night Army stared incredulously at the messenger.

Cheng Yusu and the people of the White Flame Army were dumbfounded, staring intently at the messenger, asking, ”What nonsense are you talking about now?”

Ning Jingjing has captured Youmei State City, what kind of joke is this?

”Commander Cheng, I dare not talk nonsense, this is exactly what’s written on General Ning’s Message Bird,” the messenger replied sternly, displaying a look of disdain towards Cheng Yusu, showing that General Ning was not at all like he imagined.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Yusu furiously snatched the letter from the Message Bird and quickly read it, then, in a fit of anger, crumpled it into powder.

”Impossible, Ning Jingjing is transmitting a false message!”

Cheng Yusu didn’t believe a single word, sure that Ning Jingjing was sending false reports to get back at him.

”Report...” At that moment, another messenger arrived, reporting, ”Commander Cheng, scouts have just reported that Lu Lungan, leading a million Beast Blood Soldiers, is hastily advancing towards Youmei State City, the specifics are still under investigation.”

”Report...”

A third messenger appeared to report, ”Commander Cheng, scouts from Youmei State City report, the War Soul Dynasty Army fled Youmei State City in full rout, murder was rampant, the specifics are still under investigation.”

Their voices boomed in all directions, while Cheng Yusu stood atop the city walls, his lips twitching incessantly.

He suddenly felt a terrible pain in his face.

The spy’s report confirmed that Ning Jingjing had indeed attacked Youmei State City and had actually completed this supposedly impossible task.

Suddenly, Cao Yi burst out, ”Commander Cheng, we must not miss this opportunity.”

”Yes, Commander Cheng, General Ning has stormed into Youmei State City, and Lu Lungan, in a fit of rage, has led a million Beast Blood Soldiers to capture her. Now is an excellent opportunity for us to strike,” Wen Jun also stepped forward assertively.

Cheng Yusu’s face turned even uglier; he had intended to kill Ning Jingjing, but what was happening now?

If he led his troops into battle, could he still use Ning Jingjing’s life to intimidate the enemy?

At that moment, all the forces of the Long Night Black Burning Army had drawn their weapons, ready to charge at the War Soul Dynasty Army. They couldn’t miss such a great opportunity; they were just waiting for an order from Cheng Yusu, their commander.

Time slowly passed, and Cheng Yusu’s expression continuously changed.

He finally made a decision and looked coldly down at the Long Night Army below, slowly saying, ”No, this is a trap set by Lu Lungan.”

”Send a message to Ning Jingjing to hold on. I will send troops to rescue her at dawn.”

After speaking, Cheng Yusu abruptly turned around and walked back to the watchtower, while a roar like the sky falling and the earth splitting erupted below.

He paused, then turned back and spoke coldly again, ”Cao Yi, it’s up to you.”

After speaking, he completely disappeared from the sight of the army.

”Damn it, damn it!”

After a while, a general roared continuously and violently smashed the weapon in his hand.

Another general looked at Cao Yi, his body surging with True Qi soaring into the sky, and said, ”Vice Commander Cao, shall we rebel?”

The Long Night Army was almost ready to revolt. Cheng Yusu had ordered Ning Jingjing’s assault on Youmei State City and had promised it would be settled before dawn. Now that Ning Jingjing had successfully completed the mission, Cheng Yusu remained indifferent.

How could they accept this, how could they continue to obey orders?

However, Cao Yi took a deep breath and consoled them saying, ”Gentlemen, do not act rashly. We are the Long Night Black Burning Army, and our duty lies in protecting the Long Night Empire.”

”Right, obeying orders is a fundamental element for us as Long Night Warriors,” another Vice Commander spoke up to soothe them.

But a general shook his head vigorously, his eyes bloodshot as he said, ”But, but General Ning, she...”

Cao Yi shook his head forcefully and said, ”We must not be chaotic; absolutely not. Don’t forget the commands of the Beigong Commander and the Dark Wing Commander; we must hold Youye State City at all costs.”

”Think about your families; they are all in the Long Night Imperial City,” Wen Jun said through clenched teeth.

They understood the feelings of the Long Night Warriors well. If they hadn’t known Sikong Jing had made arrangements, they might have felt the same.

But now, they must endure, for the Emperor, for the Beigong Commander, for the Long Night Empire.

Words of consolation from various Vice Commanders flowed, and the eyes of the Long Night Warriors reddened.

They glared bitterly at the city walls, overwhelmed with grief and indignation.

Now, everyone in the Long Night Army understood that if they dared to defy Cheng Yusu at this moment, their fate would be just like Ning Jingjing and the 66th Army—dying in frustration.

But deep in their hearts, a mark had been engraved; given the chance, they would definitely kill Cheng Yusu!

Inside the watchtower...

Cheng Yusu had just sat down when a strategist from the White Flame Army expressed his concern, ”Commander Cheng, won’t this provoke widespread anger?”
