Berserk God of War

Chapter 553: Chapter 553: The Ungrateful Wolf

In fact, the report from the Long Night Shadow Department was deliberately fabricated by Eunuch Zou.

The Great Prince had instructed him to plant seeds of distrust in Emperor Ji Shengmang towards the Dark Wings, so that as long as the Emperor lacked full trust in them, they would still have a chance to retaliate against the Dark Wings...

What Eunuch Zou hadn’t anticipated was that upon hearing this, a gleam flashed in Ji Shengmang’s eyes, and his spirits became increasingly stronger.

How could the Dark Wings, who had joined the War Soul Dynasty, harbor ill intentions towards him? Impossible!

After all, the Dark Wings were Sikong Jing.

Originally dispirited by the death of Beigong Xianfeng, Ji Shengmang’s fighting spirit began to rise with the mention of the name ”Dark Wings,” and he started to ponder deeply.

He grew suspicious of this matter, and even more suspicious of Eunuch Zou.

The Dark Wings wanting the position of Vice Commander, or else they would defect from the Long Night Black Burning Army? What a joke, what use did Sikong Jing have for the rank of Vice Commander?

With his Martial Arts Talent, he would hardly care for the mere title of Vice Commander.

Ji Shengmang glanced at Eunuch Zou, then stood up abruptly and said with hatred, ”The Dark Wings were raised by the Beigong Old Commander since he was a child; to be so ungrateful and thoughtless, it’s utterly outrageous... It infuriates me to no end.”

Upon hearing this, a cold light flashed in Eunuch Zou’s eyes; the Emperor did indeed know who the Dark Wings were.

And the Dark Wings had indeed been secretly raised by Beigong Xianfeng; this matter had to be reported to the Great Prince.

”I will have Huang Yu and the Long Night Shadow Department capture him, and I will personally tear apart that ungrateful wretch.”

Ji Shengmang’s chest heaved with each breath, but his mind was racing...

What were Sikong Jing’s intentions, and why had he suddenly left the Long Night Black Burning Army? He decided to keep Sikong Jing’s identity hidden for now.

In contrast, Eunuch Zou’s heart was filled with mirth; it seemed that even if the Emperor met the Dark Wings, he might tear him apart for the sake of Beigong Xianfeng.

Hehe... Thrilling!

At that moment, Ji Shengmang suddenly asked, ”Is there any news of Sikong Jing?”

As soon as these words were spoken, Eunuch Zou was taken aback and replied, ”Your Majesty, why suddenly inquire about Sikong Jing?”

Ji Shengmang gave him a cold look then gritted his teeth bitterly.

”I suspect that the death of the Beigong Old Commander was likely Sikong Jing’s doing.”

”The reason Wangyou Sect might have killed the Beigong Old Commander is probably because of Mo Ci’s suspicion that he knew Sikong Jing’s whereabouts.”

”Sikong Jing’s father-in-law and elder sister-in-law have both spent time in the Long Night Black Burning Army.”

”I must find him and insist he prostrate before the Beigong Old Commander’s grave, and knock his head on the ground repeatedly, the damned scoundrel!”

As he spoke, tears streamed down Ji Shengmang’s face.

Eunuch Zou, having realized the situation, immediately said, ”Your Majesty, Sikong Jing has already made an appearance. He is even planning to create an uproar at the Peng Family’s door in two days, which is now well-known throughout the Long Night Imperial City.”

Eunuch Zou quickly informed Ji Shengmang of Sikong Jing’s challenge against the Peng Family and Sister Peng Peng.

In an instant, Ji Shengmang slammed his hand on the table and stood up.

”What audacity Sikong Jing has to not only cause the Beigong Old Commander’s death but also to be so brazen. Very well, I will personally attend the fight in two days.”

”If Sikong Jing loses, I will throw his body in front of Beigong Old Commander’s grave to be used as an offering.”

”Should he be so lucky as to win, I will drag him there to knock his head on the ground...”

Hearing such words, Eunuch Zou quickly said he would arrange the Emperor’s procession for the event in two days.

Not until after Eunuch Zou had left did the indignation in Ji Shengmang’s eyes disappear, and he murmured to himself, ”What is Sikong Jing trying to do by making such a commotion... Could it be he wants me to come to him instead of meeting me himself?”

Assuming the identity of Dark Wings, he left the Long Night Black Burning Army in a fury and returned to the Long Night Imperial City.

Given Sikong Jing’s high-profile identity, there must be something fishy going on here; otherwise, Sikong Jing should have come to see me immediately to explain the death of Beigong Old Commander.

Ji Shengmang suddenly felt a continuous chill all over his body, as if a hand was blinding his eyes.

...

That very night, inside the Imperial City’s Treasure Pavilion.

Sikong Jing encountered a demon beast in the Extraordinary Realm, a pitch-black Demon Wolf.

Yisuo pointed at the Demon Wolf with a cheery voice, ”Junior Brother Sikong, this demon wolf is called the Night Shadow Mad Wolf. It was acquired from the Imperial City Guard Commander, Huang Yu, by the Wanbao Pavilion.”

At this moment, the Night Shadow Mad Wolf was firmly locked within a cage covered in formations, exhibiting a monstrous and ferocious gaze.

It was a gaze that wished to devour everyone.

”Hmm, I quite like this Night Shadow Mad Wolf; it has a trace of the Absolute Night Wolf King’s bloodline in its body,” Sikong Jing observed for a moment and then stepped towards the Night Shadow Mad Wolf, turning to the person beside him, ”Please, Left Pavilion Master, open the cage door.”

The Left Pavilion Master, which is the shopkeeper of the Long Night Imperial City’s Treasure Pavilion, is currently taking orders from Yisuo.

Upon hearing this, the Left Pavilion Master’s expression changed slightly, and he hurriedly said, ”Brother Sikong, I can’t open the cage. This Night Shadow Mad Wolf is an existence of the Extraordinary Third Realm, and what’s more important is that it hasn’t been tamed.”

”Huang Yu was willing to sell it to us because he couldn’t tame it.”

”It’s said that he had the Night Shadow Mad Wolf for three years, during which time he sought many Beast Tamers, but none were able to succeed.”

”This is an extremely terrifying Fierce Beast, it can’t be released!”

The Left Pavilion Master, like the shopkeeper of the Wanbao Pavilion in Wentian City before, didn’t believe Sikong Jing could tame the Night Shadow Mad Wolf.

Huang Yu was no small figure, being the Imperial City Guard Commander and unable to deal with it, so what could Sikong Jing use to handle it?

However, before Sikong Jing could speak, Yisuo preemptively said, ”Left Pavilion Master, when my Junior Brother Sikong asks you to open the cage door, just open it. There won’t be any trouble...”

He had seen with his own eyes how Sikong Jing had easily tamed the Dark Winged Dragon Eagle; he completely trusted Sikong Jing.

”But, Second Young Master Lang...”

The Left Pavilion Master was still reluctant, fearing that should the Night Shadow Mad Wolf go berserk, his Wanbao Pavilion would suffer heavy losses.

Before he could finish, suddenly a gentle voice arose from the direction of the Treasure Pavilion’s entrance, ”Left Pavilion Master, with me here, there won’t be any losses for your Wanbao Pavilion.”

The Left Pavilion Master looked up and then saw a figure in a black robe walking in, and he took off his hood.

In an instant, a flash of recognition shone in the eyes of the Left Pavilion Master, who exclaimed, ”Vice Palace Master Qin.”

This person was indeed Qin Heng, and of course, he was brought by Yisuo.

As Sikong Jing had stated there was something important to deliver to Qin Heng and crucial matters to discuss with him, but it had to be done covertly, thus Qin Heng came to the Treasure Pavilion in secret.

Seeing him, the Left Pavilion Master finally stopped resisting.

It would be easy for Qin Heng to suppress the Night Shadow Mad Wolf, and with that, he opened the cage, and in a flash, the Night Shadow Mad Wolf pounced out.

Terrifying demonic power surged in all directions, and the entire Treasure Pavilion was instantly enveloped by its murderous aura.

Panic-stricken, the Left Pavilion Master hid behind Qin Heng, while a faint aura of True Qi also emanated from Qin Heng’s body.

However, in the very next moment, Sikong Jing calmly instructed, ”Night Shadow Mad Wolf, get down and restrain your aura!”

Sikong Jing’s voice carried an even more wolf-like essence than the Night Shadow Mad Wolf.

Suddenly, the mad wolf trembled!

An incredible scene unfolded as the originally frenzied Night Shadow Mad Wolf indeed restrained its aura and obediently crouched down, even lying beside Sikong Jing, wagging its tail.

All at once, the Left Pavilion Master was dumbfounded; was this damn thing a wolf or a dog?
