Berserk God of War

Chapter 562: Chapter 562 Still Alive

Shen Qingye’s voice thundered throughout the entire Long Night Imperial City.

Within Peng Family’s Mansion, silence reigned supreme, and the last sliver of hope... had also been shattered.

From this moment on, only the Five Great Families remained in Long Night Imperial City, and the name Sikong Jing sent chills down one’s spine.

But just at this completely silent moment, Ji Shengmang’s icy voice suddenly rang out, ”Sikong Jing, congratulations on winning, but now you must come with me to kowtow and apologize to the Beigong Old Commander!”

As soon as the words were spoken, Extraordinary Realm Peak True Qi burst forth from Ji Shengmang’s body.

In an instant, before anyone could react, he ferociously pounced towards Sikong Jing...

He grabbed Sikong Jing and avoided the Night Shadow Mad Wolf, and then rushed out of Peng Family’s Mansion with him, disappearing from sight.

Everything happened in the blink of an eye, so fast that even the most powerful Hua Lidian failed to react.

As the two disappeared, everyone stood frozen.

The Emperor was not joking after all. Out of impulsiveness for the Beigong Xianfeng, the mighty Emperor himself had personally taken action. He must be taking Sikong Jing now to the Great Tomb of Beigong Xianfeng.

”Your Majesty, Eunuch Zou, we must hurry and pursue them...”

After what seemed like an eternity, Huang Yu finally came to his senses, called out, and led a group of Imperial Guards’ experts to give chase.

Eunuch Zou dared not delay and hastily pursued as well.

Of course, the Night Shadow Mad Wolf followed close behind, its howls piercing the skies.

Yet, Ji Tan did not give chase but stood in place with a cold laugh, saying, ”Father, oh Father, you, the ruler of a nation, act so impulsively. Aren’t you afraid that Sikong Jing, accompanied by the Night Shadow Mad Wolf, will cut you down?”

”Sikong Jing... don’t you want to be even more impulsive and kill my father for good?” Ji Tan chuckled maliciously.

He had always been trying to prevent Ji Shengmang from interacting with any of the younger generation, to guard against the Dark Wings.

But he had clearly analyzed as early as when Yan Ruyu had her suspicions, that Sikong Jing was definitely not the Dark Wing.

At this moment, he certainly did not consider the possibility of Dark Wings at all.

Meanwhile, Ji Shengmang, who was holding Sikong Jing, had already lost his earlier ferocity and was speeding along, saying, ”Sikong Jing, you have surprised me once again. I originally thought you would have assistance.”

Even as the Long Night Emperor, Ji Shengmang was extremely shocked by Sikong Jing’s combat just now.

He was invincible on horseback!

”Just now I was wondering how I should intervene if you encountered any mishaps,” Ji Shengmang went on.

Sikong Jing remained silent for a moment before raising his eyebrows and saying, ”Your Majesty, it seems you and I are on the same page. The reason I caused such a stir was to get you to come to me in person and take me to the tomb of the Beigong Commander.”

He did not answer regarding the Xingluo General Academy but went straight to the point.

Even if Ji Shengmang had not taken action to take him away, Sikong Jing would have found a way to speak with him alone.

Instantly, Ji Shengmang widened his eyes and asked, ”What do you mean by that?”

”Mo Ci, it was your eldest son who lured him away,” Sikong Jing said word by word.

Immediately, a terrifying killing intent flashed through Ji Shengmang’s eyes, and a chilling cold engulfed his body, as he instantly thought of Cheng Yusu, who had been recommended by Ji Tan to be appointed as the commander of the Youyuan Twelve States.

He also thought of Eunuch Zou’s previous behavior, which was targeting the Dark Wings.

”He has laid a net around you early on, ready to eliminate anyone who appears to be the Dark Wing on the spot,” said Sikong Jing.

”He would not let you know the real cause of the Beigong Commander’s death.”

”Perhaps I, the Dark Wing Commander, have already become the traitor in their eyes, having turned against the Long Night Black Burning Army,” Sikong Jing’s voice echoed eerily.

And Ji Shengmang, he felt as if he was about to be frozen solid, finally understanding why Sikong Jing did not come to see him right away after returning. It turned out it was impossible to meet at all.

Moreover, what’s even more terrifying is that Cheng Yusu now controls both the Long Night White Flame Army and the Long Night Black Burning Army.

The power behind Ji Tan has already accumulated to an alarming extent.

Then, Ji Shengmang thought of the death of Beigong Xianfeng, and the murderous intent in his eyes grew even more horrific, ”Ji Tan, this vile person actually battled for the throne and, disregarding the Youyuan Twelve States and the lives of Long Night citizens, caused the death of Beigong Old Commander.”

Having said this, Ji Shengmang once again wept uncontrollably.

Beigong Xianfeng was not just his loyal subject, he was also his teacher!

Although the ruler of a nation, Ji Shengmang wasn’t a cold-hearted and ruthless monarch; he was someone who deeply valued relationships, which, perhaps in some sense, didn’t make him a good Emperor, and it was also the reason Ji Tan had an opportunity to vie for the throne.

”Beigong Old Commander is not dead.”

Suddenly, Sikong Jing revealed something that almost made Ji Shengmang fall to the ground.

Under the latter’s intense gaze, Sikong Jing explained, ”No matter what, Beigong Commander encountered danger because of me, and I cannot leave behind this thorn in my heart, I cannot let the Commander die.”

”So as of now, he is still alive.”

Ji Shengmang still stared fixedly at Sikong Jing—Beigong Old Commander had been buried by his own hands, how could he possibly still be alive?

But Sikong Jing certainly wouldn’t speak without thinking.

”You’ll know in a moment...”

”But for now, Huang Yu and that old eunuch are definitely following us, so later on, we must create an opportunity and time to enter Beigong Old Commander’s tomb.”

”Unless Your Majesty can assure that Huang Yu is completely loyal to you, we will have to find a method to enter the tomb without raising suspicion.”

Upon hearing these words, Ji Shengmang immediately became utterly bewildered, even his own flesh and blood sought to end his life.

Could he still trust Huang Yu?

After hesitating for a long time, Ji Shengmang shook his head and said, ”I, I cannot guarantee it.”

The consequence of not being able to guarantee it is that once Ji Tan learns Beigong Xianfeng is still alive, and that Sikong Jing is Dark Wings, then Ji Tan would panic and immediately act to eliminate Ji Shengmang.

If Huang Yu is also one of Ji Tan’s people, the outcome is obvious.

Ji Shengmang’s chance of death would be exceedingly high.

”I have two plans here.”

”The first one, I have already asked Palace Master Shen to arrive at Beigong Commander’s tomb. Even if Huang Yu is with Ji Tan, it would at least ensure we still have a way out, but the result would be... the Long Night Empire will fall into great chaos.”

If we don’t bypass Huang Yu and gamble on his loyalty,

If we lose that bet, Shen Qingye would still be able to rescue Ji Shengmang and Sikong Jing from the tomb.

However, Ji Tan would also immediately flee the Long Night Imperial City, start a rebellion, and activate Cheng Yusu and the Long Night White Flame Army, etc.

By then, the Long Night Empire would inevitably fall into great turmoil.

”And this first plan would also get me entangled once again with the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace; I don’t wish to resort to this at the moment,” Sikong Jing added; after all, he was currently in a state of being expelled from the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace.

Therefore, he didn’t want to gamble on Huang Yu’s loyalty—it was too risky.

Ji Shengmang, having understood all the key points, asked again, ”What about the second plan?”

”Stabilize Ji Tan. In a bit, in front of Huang Yu and the old eunuch... kill Dark Wings, that is, the fake Dark Wings!” Sikong Jing’s eyes flickered with a sharp gleam, his voice ice-cold.

At these words, Ji Shengmang was bewildered and asked in a low voice, ”Where would we find a fake Dark Wings?”

Sikong Jing slowly spoke, ”Just now, when I was at Peng Family’s Mansion, I took the body of a student from Xingluo General Academy.”

”Just put the Dark Wing Mask on this body, and that will suffice...”
