Berserk God of War

Chapter 577: Chapter 577: Suicide Squad?

In the dead of night, the charge of the Long Night Army continued. Cheng Yusu coldly sneered, ”Charge a little longer, give Ning Jingjing more time, lest I become too heartless, heh heh heh, haha...”

Watching Ning Jingjing lead the 66th Army into the War Soul Dynasty’s territory, Cheng Yusu couldn’t help laughing out loud.

This time, he wondered who among the Long Night Black Burning Army still dared to resist him.

On the other side, Lu Lungan was stunned and immediately ordered the elite soldiers of the War Soul Dynasty to pursue and kill Ning Jingjing.

”Cheng Yusu actually has some tricks up his sleeve, daring to battle me at night, and even launching a surprise attack on me.”

Lu Lungan’s voice sounded extremely cautious, feeling that Cheng Yusu must be planning some major action.

But he was baffled within half a moment: Cheng Yusu suddenly ordered a retreat, simply allowing an army of two hundred thousand to rush into the War Soul Dynasty’s territory and then ignoring them completely?

”Strange, what exactly is Cheng Yusu up to, what sort of conspiracy?”

After a round of analysis, Lu Lungan coldly commanded, ”Could this be a suicide squad? No... It must be Cheng Yusu’s deception tactic, the army must continue its staunch defense.”

”As for that invading army, send five hundred thousand soldiers to follow closely behind them without engaging, just don’t attack them for now.”

”I want to see what other tricks Cheng Yusu can come up with.”

If Cheng Yusu heard this command from Lu Lungan, he would definitely be dumbfounded. Damn it, I just wanted you to kill Ning Jingjing, and you don’t kill her—what the hell is this?

I don’t have any tricks, I just wanted Ning Jingjing and her entire army to die, that’s all.

Unfortunately, Lu Lungan had no idea; he just suspected that this was one of Cheng Yusu’s cunning schemes, so he only dispatched five hundred thousand soldiers to chase Ning Jingjing, with the entire army remaining on high alert against the Long Night Army.

Meanwhile, having already bypassed Netherworld State City and heading straight for Youmei State City, Ning Jingjing was also flabbergasted.

”Strange, why hasn’t Lu Lungan dispatched troops to surround and kill us?”

She had already prepared for a fight to the death, and she was also prepared to accomplish some feats before Sikong Jing arrived to support her. However, the path ahead was unexpectedly clear, and the pursuing army behind her was merely five hundred thousand strong.

This was completely different from what she had expected.

”Could there be a large army waiting for us ahead?”

The Deputy Commander of the Absolute Night Wolf Guards, Lian Guang, stood close to Ning Jingjing, guessing with an expression of sternness on his face.

Since the beginning of the war in Youyuan Twelve States, seven hundred members of the Absolute Night Wolf Guards had been hiding within the 66th Army as a force of elite surprise attackers. Naturally, they now accompanied Ning Jingjing, plunging into the War Soul Dynasty’s territory.

His words immediately put Ning Jingjing on alert; perhaps a large force awaited them in the direction of Youmei State City.

So, should they continue the assault or take a detour?

Just as Ning Jingjing and Lian Guang were hesitating, a voice full of magnetism rang out.

”Don’t worry, there’s no army in the direction of Youmei State City.”

Everyone shook violently, unable to resist looking towards the source of the voice. Ning Jingjing excitedly called out, ”Sikong Jing.”

”Commander Sikong.” This was the voice of the Absolute Night Wolf Guards.

”Dark Wing Commander.” This was the voice of the people of the 66th Army, each of them filled with excitement.

At that moment, Sikong Jing emerged from the darkness of the night.

He rode his Black Steed, having blended in with the 66th Army to the point of becoming completely invisible. Aside from the men of the 66th Army, the fifty hundred thousand pursuing War Soul soldiers had failed to notice him.

They were even less aware that, with Sikong Jing rejoining the forces, this invading Long Night Army was undergoing a radical transformation.

No one knew that a war that would shock the world was about to begin.

At that moment, Sikong Jing rode his Black Steed closer to Ning Jingjing and Lian Guang, then spoke softly, ”After entering the War Soul Dynasty, just call me Boss. The title of Commander cannot be used anymore.”

Ning Jingjing and Lian Guang’s bodies trembled slightly, Sikong Jingzhen was actually going to take them to infiltrate the War Soul Dynasty.

Afterward, Sikong Jing added, ”General Ning is the Second Master, Lian Guang is the Third Master...”

It sounded almost like they were becoming mountain bandits, but no one asked further questions and simply agreed... Then, Lian Guang, surprised, asked why there was no large army in front of them, and why had Lu Lungan only sent five hundred thousand men to chase after them?

”Clearly, Lu Lungan suspects Cheng Yusu has some sort of trick up his sleeve.

”Therefore, the main forces of the War Soul Dynasty are still on alert overnight for the Long Night Army, and watching our Dark Wing Camp is just a precaution.”

With a smile, Sikong Jing analyzed the situation, then turned to the stunned Ning Jingjing and the others and asked, ”Cheng Yusu, what is the mission given to you?”

He had just emerged from the Soul Penetration Mountain and wasn’t aware of the suicidal mission assigned to Ning Jingjing and the others.

”To capture Youmei State City before dawn,” Ning Jingjing immediately responded upon hearing the question.

A glint of brilliance flashed in Sikong Jing’s eyes, and the corners of his mouth curled up slowly as he said, ”Youmei State City, huh? Very well... then we’ll take Youmei State City directly, according to this mission.”

Upon hearing this statement, Ning Jingjing and Lian Guang exchanged glances. Were they really going to attack?

Sikong Jing voiced with a smile, ”Of course we’re going to attack. General Ning aims to make great achievements, naturally it’s time to rack up some military exploits.”

However, Ning Jingjing and several deputy commanders of the 66th Army had their doubts. Even if there was no large army in front, with just their two hundred thousand men, capturing Youmei State City seemed almost impossible.

Inside Youmei State City, there were at least one million troops stationed, along with city walls and the pursuing forces behind them; how were they supposed to attack?

”Put some spirit into it, there’s nothing that can’t be attacked.”

At this moment, Sikong Jing spoke up forcefully, then while riding his horse, unfurled a map: ”Twenty kilometers ahead, we’ll pass through a dense forest, where we’ll annihilate the chasing forces behind us in one fell swoop.”

Having said that, Sikong Jing stowed away the map, his eyes shining with determination.

Ning Jingjing and the rest immediately perked up at this.

With Sikong Jing present, nothing was unattackable; from now on, it was the 66th Army’s war, and their opponents were not only Lu Lungan but also Cheng Yusu and the entire War Soul Dynasty.

Panic was useless, doubt was useless; all they needed to do was follow Sikong Jing resolutely.

If Sikong Jing said they could attack, then they surely could.

The twenty kilometers passed in the blink of an eye, and Sikong Jing ordered, ”All men dismount and enter the forest, prepare to ambush.”

Swish, swish, swish...

Upon the command, the soldiers immediately leapt from their horses into the forest.

Then they let the Black Steeds charge forward without them.

Under Sikong Jing’s deliberate control, the two hundred thousand Black Steeds did not scatter wildly but maintained their original pace.

Flying Bird Knights were supervising from the sky, but the dense forest and the darkness of the night, coupled with the unbroken rhythm, meant that the supervisors failed to notice that the Black Steeds were now riderless.

The supervisors conveyed to the chasing forces that they could enter the forest and continue the pursuit.

However, just as the five hundred thousand chasing forces surged into the forest, suddenly, knights in the air realized something wasn’t right and immediately shouted, ”Damn it, there’s no one on the Black Steeds, hurry, hurry... send out the alert.”

After speaking, the urgent retreat horn sounded, but by the time the five hundred thousand chasing forces heard it, it was already too late.

In that instant, all they were left with was panic...

”66th Army, heed my command, attack!”

In the moment of their panic, Sikong Jing’s order was already relayed from within the forest, and then leading the way, he charged out; his Dark Wing Black Burning Sword beheaded the Chasing Army Commander on the spot.
