Berserk God of War

Chapter 552: Chapter 552: Prove Your Worth

Lu Lungan was a Commander of the War Soul Dynasty, as renowned as Beigong Xianfeng—hardly someone ordinary people could contend with.

Vice Commanders like Cao Yi were not incompetent, yet they had been beaten to the point of fleeing in utter disorder.

”Do you know that Dark Wings, during those eight days, would every day boldly venture to the outskirts of Netherworld City, infuriating Lu Lungan so much that he vomited blood daily? Could Sikong Jing really manage that?”

Upon hearing this, Yan Ruyu was completely dumbfounded, unable to believe the words she herself had spoken.

”But Your Highness, no one could have imagined that Sikong Jing would become the top Martial Arts Genius of the Long Night Empire. You definitely shouldn’t underestimate him,” Yan Ruyu still cried out, unwilling to concede.

She had already failed many times, she couldn’t underestimate Sikong Jing anymore.

Slap...

As soon as the words fell, Yan Ruyu was harshly slapped again.

Ji Tan then said, ”Conquering the Long Night Black Burning Army isn’t something that happens overnight.”

”Sikong Jing has only been in the Long Night Imperial City for a short time, and he has spent most of his time Cultivating inside the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, fiercely contending with the Long Night Star Palace. Even if he were highly skilled, where would he find the time to conquer the Long Night Black Burning Army?”

Thinking of how the Long Night Black Burning Army would face death unflinchingly at a single command from Dark Wings, Ji Tan was even more incredulous of Sikong Jing’s capability.

Leadership ability and Martial Arts talent are completely different concepts.

Places like Canglong Small Domain were nothing, full of soldiers at the Mortal Martial level—garbage... whereas the soldiers of the Long Night Black Burning Army were beyond Transcendent, from the Innate Five Realms, even including powerful soldiers at the Xuantian Five Realms level.

Could these be the same?

Completely different; without the long-term accumulation and guidance from Beigong Xianfeng, it would be impossible.

”Secondly, Sikong Jing has a good relationship with Ning Jingjing, but that’s just Ning Jingjing, not Beigong Xianfeng... Why would Beigong Xianfeng trust a greenhorn and entrust the Long Night Black Burning Army entirely to him?”

”Coming from Canglong Small Domain, how loyal could he be to the Long Night Empire?”

”Speaking of loyalty, who could surpass Beigong Xianfeng... Even if Sikong Jing was stronger, Beigong Xianfeng wouldn’t dare take that risk.”

Yan Ruyu’s mouth fell open in astonishment; it seemed this was indeed the case.

Previously, Sikong Jing had openly cut down Seventh Prince Ji Ming; how could he show loyalty to the Long Night Imperial Family?

They were completely unaware that Beigong Xianfeng’s trust in Sikong Jing was because of the terrifyingly powerful human-shaped demon beast, and Beigong Xianfeng’s perspective on people was entirely different from Ji Tan’s.

One was magnanimous and bold, the other had the heart of a petty person.

Beigong Xianfeng did not expect loyalty from Sikong Jing; what he expected was that once Sikong Jing grew stronger, he could protect the Long Night Empire.

Or, perhaps, lend a hand in the future.

”Thirdly, Ji Ming lost to Beigong Xianfeng’s Seven Wolf Guards, those were half-human, half-beast rubbish.”

”Sikong Jing was leading immensely strong Xuantian Realm elite soldiers to curry favor with both Sikong Jing and the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace, so it was very normal for Beigong Xianfeng to lend them to him.”

Ji Tan would never think that Sikong Jing casually tossing out the ’Absolute Night Wolf King Technique’ would transform the so-called Seven Wolf Guards from half-beasts back into humans.

In his mind, how could half-humans suddenly revert to human form?

”And the last point, as soon as Sikong Jing hears my name, he wouldn’t dare touch my people.”

”If he were Dark Wings, he would be desperate to tear me apart, understand?”

Ji Tan’s tone was freezing cold, if it weren’t for Zou Fu’s appearance, he might have believed it, but now he simply didn’t.

”Moreover, if Dark Wings really is Sikong Jing, he could have had Shen Qingye take him to see my father immediately, and I couldn’t have stopped him, yet now he still claims publicly... he plans to visit the Peng Family!”

This final statement utterly shattered Yan Ruyu, completely shaking her confidence.

Yet she and Ji Tan still didn’t understand Sikong Jing, didn’t understand what kind of person one who values loyalty and righteousness really is. Sikong Jing might disregard the Long Night Imperial Family with contempt, yet he admires and understands Beigong Xianfeng’s unwavering loyalty.

For Beigong Xianfeng’s loyalty, he would guard the Youyuan Twelve States rigorously, preventing any unrest from happening in the Long Night Empire.

So, how could he allow the Long Night Saint Dragon Palace to fall into dire straits because of his issues?

The next moment, Ji Tan fiercely lifted Yan Ruyu up, staring at her and said, ”I have told you before, if your eyes are only on Sikong Jing, I will kill you...”

”Moreover, Sikong Jing has already shown goodwill to this prince, you had better prove your worth quickly.”

Having said that, he harshly threw Yan Ruyu to the ground and turned to leave.

Lying on the ground, Yan Ruyu trembled all over, her heart in utter chaos... Sikong Jing, that bastard, had actually shown goodwill to the Eldest Prince. If he considers Sikong Jing more valuable than her, she would definitely be dead.

At that moment, Yan Ruyu was at a loss for what to do.

Now, she could only hope that Sikong Jing would die at the Peng Family’s residence in two days.

...

In the Long Night Palace, Emperor Ji Shengmang sat exhaustedly at his desk, reviewing documents.

Currently, he held a battle report from Cheng Yusu of the Youyuan Twelve States in his hands, describing how the latter had bravely, impressively, and resolutely held Youye State City, preventing Lu Lungan and the War Soul Dynasty from advancing a step further.

”Cheng Yusu, truly did not disappoint me,” Ji Shengmang sighed softly.

During the days since Beigong Xianfeng’s death, Ji Shengmang had fallen ill from severe grief and lost interest in state affairs until he saw Beigong Xianfeng’s body and attended the burial two days ago, after which he finally regained his spirit.

Now, seeing the battle report from the Youyuan Twelve States, his mood improved significantly.

At this moment, Eunuch Zou, who was on duty, smiled beside him and said, ”Commander Cheng is indeed impressive. Before your majesty’s decree was delivered, the Long Night Black Burning Army was nearly collapsing, yet Commander Cheng took over the commander seal and immediately turned the situation around.”

At this, Eunuch Zou’s eyes filled with cold intent—he was playing both ends against the middle, already wholly aligned with Ji Tan.

Ji Shengmang nodded, then took out another document and said, ”What is this about? The Long Night Shadow Department reports that there has been unusual movement among the War Soul Dynasty’s spies lately, it seems they are looking for someone?”

At this question, a flicker of cold light passed through Eunuch Zou’s eyes... the War Soul Dynasty was searching for Dark Wings.

They want to recruit Dark Wings...

Eunuch Zou, thinking this, softly replied, ”I am not sure about this, but I have a guess, the War Soul Dynasty is probably looking for the Dark Wing Commander of the Long Night Black Burning Army.”

At these words, Ji Shengmang froze and looked up, his spirits suddenly rising as he asked softly, ”Why?”

”Because the Dark Wing Commander suddenly rebelled against Commander Cheng when he took over the commander seal, and even stated that if Commander Cheng does not give him the position of vice commander, he would defect from the Long Night Black Burning Army,” Eunuch Zou explained.

Then, Eunuch Zou mentioned that Commander Cheng, of course, disagreed, and the Dark Wing Commander walked out right there.

The War Soul Dynasty also saw the opportunity, wanting to find and recruit Dark Wings into the War Soul Dynasty.

Finally, Eunuch Zou added, ”Or perhaps Dark Wings has already joined the War Soul Dynasty, the unusual activity of the War Soul Dynasty’s spies could be due to him, likely for some unspeakable purpose.”

”Dark Wings knows the Long Night Black Burning Army too well, your majesty must be careful,” he concluded.

After speaking, the depths of Eunuch Zou’s eyes were filled with an odd gleam.
