Berserk God of War

Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Assassination? I’m the Eyewitness

Of course, Sikong Jing could also make a move to kill.

But without evidence, Sikong Jing would bear an unfounded charge, and one cannot simply allow Sikong Jing to kill Ji Tan and then have Ji Shengmang issue an arrest order under duress.

More importantly, Ning Jingjing was still with the Long Night Black Burning Army, and it wouldn’t be difficult for Cheng Yusu to kill her.

At that moment, Sikong Jing said indifferently, ”Ji Tan will not initiate a coup d’état at present, as he also does not have full confidence, and the prerequisite for his move is that Cheng Yusu has complete control over the Long Night Black Burning Army.”

”And we, shall let him take control,” Sikong Jing continued.

”Once the Beigong Commander recovers, once Cheng Yusu returns to the Long Night Imperial City with the Long Night Black Burning Army, and once all the rebels have emerged, that will be the time for our counterattack,” he stated.

”By then, His Majesty can naturally purge the court... Of course, this matter needs to be well-planned,” Sikong Jing added.

Following Sikong Jing’s words, Ji Shengmang and Beigong Xianfeng both stared at him in stunned silence.

The calm and domineering presence of Sikong Jing greatly boosted their confidence and calmed Ji Shengmang down.

Then the planning began, as the three of them quietly discussed strategies in the room.

Two hours later, Ji Shengmang left, while Beigong Xianfeng stared deeply at Sikong Jing.

”For the War Soul Dynasty’s campaign, one must be cautious, not forcing anything and prioritizing the preservation of life,” Beigong Xianfeng cautioned.

”Even if I were not here, the Long Night Black Burning Army would still have you. For the stability of our empire, the death of someone like me from Beigong is insignificant,” he stated solemnly.

Beigong Xianfeng’s cloudy old eyes were full of gravity.

Sikong Jing nodded deeply, then left Beigong Xianfeng’s room. After that, he went to find Su Yuexi and informed her of all his plans, and the family had a lovely meal together.

Early the next morning, Sikong Jing left the Long Night Imperial City, and his mount had become the Iron Bone Flying Vulture.

Aboard the Iron Bone Flying Vulture, there was also an Extraordinary Realm Ice Soul Cold Eagle.

...

The Iron Bone Flying Vulture was incredibly fast, and three days later, Sikong Jing arrived at the Youyuan Twelve States.

At that moment, on the walls of Youye State City, Cheng Yusu stood with the guards of the White Flame Army and looked down contemptuously at the Long Night Black Burning Army and the regular troops below him.

Suddenly, he shouted loudly, ”All soldiers, listen up and look over here!”

The Long Night Black Burning Army and the regular troops looked up listlessly; they did not take Cheng Yusu seriously at all.

Ever since he had received the Commander Seal, the situation had always been like this.

The Long Night Army of the Youyuan Twelve States only obeyed the orders of Cao Yi and a few other Vice Commanders at present—if the War Soul Dynasty Army attacked, they would defend; if the War Soul Dynasty Army retreated, they would rest where they were.

Anyway, as the last order issued by the Dark Wing Commander stated, they would not initiate an attack.

And since the War Soul Dynasty Army had been reduced to a cripple during the time of the Dark Wing Commander, they certainly couldn’t break through the Long Night Empire Army now.

Lu Lungan didn’t want to attack and was currently focused on harassment.

In response to such an attitude from the Long Night Army, Cheng Yusu’s eyes flashed with cold light, and he sneered, ”Cao Yi, Wen Jun, and the other Vice Commanders, come out. I have an important announcement to make...”

Upon hearing this, the Vice Commanders walked out indifferently, with Cao Yi asking, ”Commander Cheng, what is it? Just say it.”

Although he said this, Cao Yi’s heart was thumping, sensing an ominous premonition.

Sure enough, the corner of Cheng Yusu’s mouth curled slightly, and he suddenly said, ”Vice Commander Cao, and all the officers and soldiers of the Long Night Army, take a look at what this is.”

As his voice fell, Cheng Yusu suddenly raised a corpse high in the air, a body wearing a mask, the Dark Wing Mask.

This was, of course, the Dark Wing corpse sent by Ji Tan.

In an instant, the entire Long Night Army was shaken, and their eyes turned red.

And Cao Yi and the others were also dumbfounded for a good while, their minds buzzing...

Ning Jingjing and Sui Yu were also staring blankly at the body in Cheng Yusu’s hands on the city wall, their eyes filled with disbelief.

Dark Wing had died? Sikong Jing had died?

Their intelligence network had long been sealed off by Cheng Yusu; they had no idea what had recently transpired in the Long Night Imperial City.

And at that moment, facing the shocked and angry gazes of the entire assembly, Cheng Yusu proudly declared, ”After Dark Wing returned to the Long Night Imperial City, he actually attempted to assassinate His Majesty and was personally executed by His Majesty.”

”How tragic! How hateful! To know someone’s face but not their heart!”

Cheng Yusu let out a furious roar, the triumph in his eyes even more intense.

Afterwards, he slowly turned his gaze to the tens of millions of soldiers before his eyes returned to Vice Commander Cao Yi and the others, and said ominously, ”Vice Commanders, do you still dare to say that Dark Wing has not rebelled?”

Instantly, Cao Yi and the others clenched their fists tightly, their entire body chilling to the bone.

The so-called rebellion was merely Cheng Yusu and Ji Tan’s narrative; they were the ones who wanted to conquer the Long Night Black Burning Army.

”The Dark Wing Commander would not have rebelled.”

No one knew who roared out loud, but then the entire army erupted, advancing towards Youye State City with continuous roars of anger.

This made it clear how deeply rooted Dark Wing was in the hearts of the people, and in just under ten days, things had come to this.

At this moment, Vice Commanders like Cao Yi no longer knew what to do.

Sikong Jing had returned to report to His Majesty about Ji Tan’s plot to kill the Beigong Commander, but now he had failed.

What was to be done, should they lead the Long Night Black Burning Army in rebellion, or stabilize the Long Night Black Burning Army?

Seeing such a scene, Cheng Yusu was also startled; he too had not expected Dark Wing’s deep influence on the army’s spirit, and he quickly looked towards Cao Yi and the others, shouting, ”Vice Commanders, you must steady the emotions of the officers and soldiers.”

”Do not forget, the responsibility you carry and the resolve to protect your families.”

When he said the words ”family members,” Cheng Yusu bit down hard... implying that their families were all in the Long Night Imperial City, Dark Wing had already lost, and if they dared to move against him, their families would be doomed.

Sure enough, the bodies of Cao Yi and the others shook mightily, their faces draining of color.

On one side was the hatred for the assassination of the Beigong Commander, and on the other, the safety of their family members; they found it hard to choose.

”I can prove that Dark Wing did indeed attempt to assassinate His Majesty.”

Just as all the Vice Commanders were hesitating, suddenly, a light and indifferent voice echoed above Youye State City.

Instantly, everyone present, regardless of affiliation, wore a face of confusion.

All instinctively turned to the source of the voice, which turned out to be an Ice Soul Cold Eagle descending, and then they saw a person dropping down from it - a young man.

It was indeed Sikong Jing.

The Iron Bone Flying Vulture was his biggest trump card, as well as his means of dealing with Mo Ci; he certainly would not have easily revealed it to everyone.

Thus, he had come down riding on the Ice Soul Cold Eagle.

The moment they saw him, the emotionally uncontrollable Ning Jingjing froze, the people of the Dark Wing Camp froze, and Cao Yi was completely dumbfounded.

They then instinctively turned their gaze towards the corpse in Cheng Yusu’s hands...

Dammit, the body turned out to be fake; it wasn’t Dark Wing himself, and even less so Sikong Jing.

Over here, Cheng Yusu had also realized what was happening and stared at Sikong Jing, asking, ”Who are you?”

Although this young man had spoken in his favor, his unexplained appearance on the ramparts of Youye State City still put Cheng Yusu on alert; his guards had already drawn their weapons with a ”clang clang” and surrounded Sikong Jing.
