Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor

Chapter 86: Chapter 84: Xiaobai’s Intelligence, Self-Created Breathing Technique

”It’s not convenient to talk here,” Roy said slowly. ”Let’s go inside.”

Even though they were surrounded by soldiers from the Castle Guard, he didn’t intend to say too much to Tony here.

”Alright, let’s have lunch first. After lunch, we can go to my study and have a proper chat...”

At this point, Tony paused, glanced at Xiaobai, and continued, ”It’s too big. Keeping it inside the castle might be... inconvenient.”

Roy knew that even before Tony said a word. There was no suitable place for Xiaobai inside the castle. He replied calmly, ”Xiaobai won’t be staying in the castle. It’ll find its own place to rest. Just feed it a few sheep or pigs every day, and it’ll be fine.”

Xiaobai?

’You’re calling this huge, black Earth Dragon ”Little White?”’

Tony stared at Roy, his face a picture of surprise.

He wasn’t the only one; the nearby soldiers also looked astonished.

Roy paid their surprise no mind. He turned to Xiaobai and said, ”Don’t eat people, and don’t wander too far from the castle. Understand?”

Without any hesitation, Xiaobai immediately let out a low, short sound.

”Alright, that’s all. Go on, go play,” Roy said with a nod.

’When I first tamed Xiaobai, I thought it couldn’t understand human language. I had planned to add Beast Taming to my cultivation schedule, hoping to acquire a related special ability soon.’

’As it turned out, the only reason Xiaobai hadn’t responded that day was because I’d beaten it into a stupor. Its head had been ringing, and it couldn’t hear a thing.’

After two days of testing, he was certain that Xiaobai not only understood human speech but was at least as intelligent as a Border Collie.

If a Border Collie’s intelligence is comparable to a six to eight-year-old child’s, then Xiaobai’s was on par with a twelve to fourteen-year-old adolescent.

Aside from its inability to speak, Xiaobai’s capacity for learning and communication was excellent.

In just two short days, Xiaobai had already learned to use the length and pitch of its vocalizations to express concepts like ”understand,” ”hungry,” ”tired,” ”pain,” ”tasty,” ”man,” and ”woman.”

The low, short sound Xiaobai had just made meant ”understand.”

After responding to Roy, Xiaobai set off on its thick legs. Under the watchful eyes of Tony and his men, it began to wander around the castle as if patrolling its territory.

”Can it really understand you?” Tony asked Roy.

”It understands simple commands. Anything too complex is probably beyond it,” Roy replied.

Despite his words, Tony was still a little uneasy.

If nothing else, should Xiaobai suddenly go berserk, he highly doubted he and Roy had the ability to stop it.

Count Frost Bear and the Saw-toothed Crocodile Count had already proven through their actions that even with dozens of their Clan Knights, they couldn’t easily take down Xiaobai.

Seeing the worried look on Tony’s face, Roy added, ”Don’t worry. My teacher gave me a method to subdue Xiaobai. Even if it goes berserk, I have a way to calm it down.”

...

「The Study.」

The moment lunch was over, Tony impatiently led Roy to the study to ask about the Dark Night Knight taking him on as a student.

Roy sat across from Tony and, with a calm expression, recited the story he had prepared in advance.

”The first time we met, my teacher saw that I had decent Cultivation Talent and had the idea of taking me as a student.”

”However, he didn’t immediately take me as a student. Instead, he gave me a few tests.”

”I won’t go into the details, but I passed them successfully.”

”When I delivered the final payment for the commission to my teacher, he formally accepted me as a student and began to guide my Cultivation.”

”It’s precisely because of my teacher’s help that I was able to advance to High Tier Knight so quickly in half a year.”

”Besides guiding me in the Cultivation Breathing Technique, my teacher also taught me some Secret Techniques. I can teach them to you, if you’d like.”

”My teacher originally intended for me to switch Breathing Techniques, but I didn’t want to give up the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique that has been passed down in our family for generations, so I proposed to my teacher that I wanted to try upgrading the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique.”

”At the beginning, my teacher wasn’t very supportive of me doing this, but in the end, he still agreed to let me try and gave me some necessary help.”

”And then, I came up with this.”

As he said this, Roy took out a rolled-up sheet of parchment and handed it to Tony.

What was recorded on the parchment was the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method that he had compiled.

He had originally planned to give the Inheritance Map for the Golden Eagle Breathing Skill to Tony.

’But after some thought, I ultimately chose the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method.’

Tony was now twenty-four years old.

If he had Tony start cultivating the Golden Eagle Breathing Skill from scratch, Tony most likely wouldn’t be able to advance to Peak Knight before the age of thirty.

But the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method was an upgrade from the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique, so he wouldn’t need to start from scratch. He could continue cultivating from his existing foundation, which would save a lot of time.

The only problem was, he wasn’t sure if Tony could cultivate the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method.

After all, Tony wasn’t him; he didn’t have the Golden Finger that was the Skill Proficiency Panel.

Tony took the parchment and quickly began to read it.

Within a few seconds, just as Roy had predicted, Tony’s face showed an expression of disbelief.

’How is this possible?’

’A Breathing Technique can actually be upgraded?’

’Can this really allow someone to cultivate to the level of Great Knight?’

After reading it over and over several times, Tony finally put down the parchment and asked Roy, ”Has Lord Dark Night Knight seen this?”

”Of course he has.”

”My teacher was just as shocked as you when he saw the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method,” Roy replied calmly.

”What did Lord Dark Night Knight say?” Tony pressed.

”My teacher compared it to the Breathing Technique he cultivates and said that the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method has already reached the Excellent Level,” Roy replied.

After hearing his answer, Tony fell silent.

After more than ten seconds, he continued, ”It’s not that I don’t believe you, nor do I doubt Lord Dark Night Knight’s judgment. It’s just that creating a higher-level Breathing Technique on your own is just too incredible.”

”As far as I know, many Knights have tried this before, including quite a few Golden Great Knights, but the only ones who truly succeeded were twelve people—the twelve Legendary Knights.”

”Besides, you haven’t even advanced to Great Knight yet.”

”In other words, whether the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method has truly reached the Excellent Level remains to be seen.”

Roy wasn’t surprised by Tony’s reaction.

If their roles were reversed, he wouldn’t be much calmer than Tony.

He, a mere High Tier Knight, had accomplished something only twelve Legendary Knights had ever managed.

No matter how much Tony believed in him and thought highly of him, this matter was still too incredible for Tony to accept.

”It’s true that I haven’t advanced to Great Knight yet, but the cultivation efficiency of the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method is indeed much higher than the Ice Wolf Breathing Technique.”

”I have a lot of confidence in the Ice Wolf King Breathing Method,” Roy said calmly, looking at Tony. ”If you don’t believe me, you can try it right now.”
