Wizard: Grinding from Knight to Primogenitor

Chapter 77: Chapter 75: Ice Flame Slash, Basic Elemental Power

”No problem!”

Sandru nodded, got up, and walked over to a hidden compartment in the bookshelf. He took out the parchment scrolls that recorded the cultivation methods for Secret Techniques like Flame Slash.

After handing the parchments to Roy, he said slowly, ”The military supplies you exchanged for won’t arrive right away. You might have to wait a while.”

”That’s fine. Just send them over when they arrive.”

”If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to my room now.”

Roy carefully put away the parchments and stood up to reply.

Under Sandru’s gaze, he left the office and went straight back to his guest room on the third floor.

Upon returning to his room, he didn’t hesitate. With a single thought, he instantly entered Chaos Square.

After reviewing the cultivation methods for Flame Slash, Tornado Slash, and Earth-Splitting Slash, he didn’t immediately begin practicing the new Secret Techniques. Instead, he opened his Skill Proficiency Panel to check the progress of his three existing Secret Techniques.

[Dragon’s Battle Roar: Tier One (920/1000), Awakened Effect: Basic Dragon Mighty]

[Frost Slash: Tier One (860/1000), Awakened Effect: Basic Frost Power]

[Blood Mark: Tier One (860/1000)]

In order to advance to Silver Great Knight as quickly as possible, he hadn’t been spending too much time cultivating his Secret Techniques recently. He had only been doing some routine training, so his Skill Level hadn’t increased very quickly.

Even so, these three Secret Techniques were about to break through to Tier Two.

’Once I advance to Silver Great Knight, I’ll focus on cultivating my Secret Techniques and try to get them all to Tier Two!’

Roy set a new cultivation plan for himself.

Closing the Skill Proficiency Panel, he began his cultivation of Flame Slash.

「Half an hour later.」

A notification about learning Flame Slash appeared before his eyes.

[Flame Slash Skill Level +1]

[Flame Slash: Tier One (1/1000), Awakened Effect: Basic Flame Power]

’The Awakened Effect really is Basic Flame Power!’

Looking at the information before him, Roy broke into a satisfied smile.

Without any hesitation, his gaze immediately fell upon the Awakened Effect: Basic Flame Power.

[Basic Flame Power: Your Flame Energy Affinity and Flame Resistance have increased by 10%. Your Fighting Qi has gained the Flame attribute.]

’It’s just as I guessed. Whether it’s Basic Frost Power or Basic Flame Power, the effect is to increase the Energy Affinity and Resistance of the corresponding element, and to imbue my Fighting Qi with that same energy.’

After a moment of thought, he closed the panel before him and began to manipulate the Fighting Qi within his body.

Under his control, his white, flame-like Fighting Qi condensed into a Fighting Qi Cross Sword.

Once the Fighting Qi Cross Sword was formed, he didn’t hesitate and immediately executed a Frost Slash and a Flame Slash.

An ice-blue Frost Slash and an orange-red Flame Slash flew one after the other toward the gray fog that shrouded Chaos Square.

BOOM! BOOM!

The Frost Slash and Flame Slash did not pass through the gray fog. The moment they struck it, the crescent-shaped arcs of Fighting Qi exploded violently.

[Frost Slash Skill Level +1]

[Flame Slash Skill Level +1]

After executing the Frost Slash and Flame Slash, Roy didn’t stop. He prepared to unleash a fused Fighting Qi slash that would simultaneously contain both the Power of Frost and the Power of Flame.

He didn’t know if he could actually pull it off; it was purely an experiment.

As it turned out, he was right.

For someone like him, who possessed both Basic Frost Power and Basic Flame Power, this wasn’t a particularly difficult task.

If there was any problem at all, it was that the difficulty was slightly higher, as it required him to evenly fuse the Power of Frost and the Power of Flame.

He raised his White Fighting Qi Cross Sword, spent a few seconds fusing the Power of Frost and Power of Flame within his Fighting Qi, and then swung it toward the gray fog.

With the swing of the Fighting Qi Cross Sword, a red-and-blue, crescent-shaped Fighting Qi Slash shot rapidly toward the gray fog.

BOOM!

Just like the Frost Slash and Flame Slash before, upon striking the gray fog, the crescent-shaped Fighting Qi erupted with a massive bang!

Although it failed to pierce the gray fog, its power was clearly much greater than that of the individual Frost Slash and Flame Slash.

If nothing else, just by looking at the ripples produced in the gray fog, one could tell that the fused Fighting Qi slash was more powerful.

After everything had returned to calm, Roy was about to give a new name to the Fighting Qi slash that fused the Power of Frost and Power of Flame.

Just then, the Skill Proficiency Panel displayed another message.

[Ice Flame Slash Skill Level +1]

[Ice Flame Slash: Tier One (1/1000)]

’Ice Flame Slash?’

Seeing the name of the Secret Technique provided by the Skill Proficiency Panel, a thought involuntarily surfaced in Roy’s mind.

’Is it called Ice Flame Slash instead of Flame Frost Slash because I mastered Frost Slash first?’

Although he didn’t know if that was the reason, he didn’t dwell on it and happily began his cultivation of Tornado Slash.

「Over an hour later.」

Roy stood in the middle of Chaos Square, frowning in confusion as he looked at the White Fighting Qi on his right hand.

Just like with Flame Slash, he had smoothly learned Tornado Slash and Earth-Splitting Slash, awakening their effects and granting him Basic Storm Power and Basic Earth Power.

Then, a problem arose.

He had thought he could continue by fusing the Power of Storm and Power of Earth, unleashing Fighting Qi slashes that contained three or even four types of energy attributes.

As it turned out, he had been too naive.

’It won’t fuse!’

Not only was he unable to fuse three or four energies, but the Power of Storm and Power of Earth couldn’t even be fused with each other, nor could they be fused with either the Power of Frost or the Power of Flame.

’Is it because they’re only at the Basic level?’

’Or am I missing some other key attribute?’

’That can’t be right!’

’I have Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire!’

’This isn’t a Xianxia world, so it can’t be the five elements, right?’

Just as Roy was pondering the reason, a piece of information suddenly appeared out of thin air in his mind.

[Basic Elemental Power only allows for the dual-element fusion of the Power of Frost and the Power of Flame. Middle Level Elemental Power allows for a three-element fusion, and only Advanced Elemental Power can achieve a perfect four-element fusion!]

Although the information appeared abruptly, Roy reacted instantly, knowing it was a hint from Chaos Square.

Chaos Square had given him a similar hint when he didn’t know how to read the information inside the Memory Crystal Ball.

”How can I raise the level of my Elemental Powers?”

Without any hesitation, Roy immediately spoke aloud.

Just like last time, Chaos Square did not provide any further answers to his questions.

’It only answers one question at a time?’

’How stingy!’

Roy complained inwardly.

After grumbling, he took a deep breath, calmed himself, and began to review the cultivation methods for Fierce Strike, Earth Trample, and Heart of Fury.

Fierce Strike: an amplification-type Secret Technique that instantly increases the total output of Fighting Qi, boosting the power of Fighting Qi attacks.

Earth Trample: an attack-type Secret Technique. Stomp the ground to stun surrounding enemies. The closer the distance, the better the effect.

Heart of Fury: an amplification-type Secret Technique. Enter a furious state, drastically increasing one’s own stats for a short period of time.

After reviewing the cultivation methods for these three Secret Techniques, Roy decided to start his cultivation with Fierce Strike.

Time trickled by.

After he had also learned Fierce Strike, Earth Trample, and Heart of Fury, he paused for a moment.

[Fierce Strike: Tier One (1/1000)]

[Earth Trample: Tier One (1/1000), Awakened Effect: Basic Earth Power]

[Heart of Fury: Tier One (1/1000)]

Roy had thought that these three Secret Techniques wouldn’t awaken their effects so quickly.

Unexpectedly, Earth Trample also awakened an effect the moment he learned it, and it was Basic Earth Power, which he already possessed.

Just like the effects from his Breathing Technique, the two Basic Earth Power effects did not stack.

Although it seemed like a waste for now, he didn’t pay it much mind.

’If Breathing Techniques of the same type can be fused and upgraded when cultivated to their limit, then perhaps Secret Techniques with the same Awakened Effect can also be fused and upgraded after reaching their limit.’

’With the Skill Proficiency Panel, anything is possible!’
