Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 248: Chapter 59: Hill’s Near Miss

The silver behemoth slowly came to a halt on the outskirts of Kexlote, and a mage dressed in a black standard robe quickly flew up to it.

”May I ask, where is this ship from and where does it plan to moor?” the Black Robe Mage asked, holding a tablet.

”Master Fran’s ship. We plan to land beside the Alchemy Academy on that vacant lot, where we’re preparing to build the Magic Tower,” Adrian answered proficiently.

Adrian turned his head and summoned, and the control Tower Spirit of the ship appeared.

The Black Robe Mage took several photos of the Tower Spirit with the tablet, and then carefully snapped pictures of the entire ship from top to bottom.

”Now, this ship may enter Kexlote, but please do not stop anywhere other than beside the Alchemy Academy,” the Black Robe Mage said respectfully but without the trembling that one might have when facing a High-level Mage, nor did he worry that obstructing the ship of a Legendary could cause any trouble.

Adrian nodded with a smile, and the Black Robe Mage flew down into a medium-sized magic tower below.

”Although Kexlote has no city walls, the Magic Arrays are sufficient,” Adrian said with a smile, watching Hill curiously look around. ”His Majesty the King’s academy has already trained quite a few mages. Although they’re not of high level and may never even reach Archmage status, they’re sufficient for these kinds of patrol tasks.

You see those small towers below? They’re scattered all over the capital, each manned by such Black Robe Mages. They are a mage division directly under the King, and no one dares to resist their patrols.

However, for ordinary people, these mages are quite trustworthy. Together with the knights patrolling the streets below, they form the Capital Guard Army, with only the Royal Guard and them being the troops directly under the King.

Their position is very high.

Speaking of which, the tablets they hold, once a person inputs information, everyone has it. It’s really convenient.”

Sometimes, Hill seriously wondered if William wanted the Divine Position of the god of communications and information, in addition to justice and fairness.

If that were the case, it would be somewhat understandable why William planned to stay in this world for hundreds of years.

The spaceship had just stopped above a vacant lot when Magister Hensley flew over.

”Mr. Adrian, Mr. Hill, good day!” he greeted with a warm smile.

”Mr. Hensley, good day,” Hill replied.

”Hensley, why is it you coming over?” Adrian asked in surprise.

”Master Fran has just advanced to Legendary status and arrived at the capital, and His Majesty the King places great importance on it. He specifically instructed me to bring over this welfare package from the head of the Alchemy Academy early.” Hensley, seeing that neither of them intended to introduce him to Fran, reluctantly handed over the box he was holding.

”Thank you, Mr. Hensley,” Hill took the box cheerfully.

Adrian smiled in gratitude at Hensley and said his farewells.

Hensley soon left helplessly, and Adrian, with a disdainful smile, took the box from Hill’s hand.

”Why didn’t they let you into the cabin last time?” Hill had been puzzled by this for a long time.

”I wondered how long you could hold your questions,” Adrian laughed. ”It was easy enough for Miller’s Legend to let me aboard, but they didn’t give me the proper treatment of a Magister, which I thought was a bit off.

Later, I discovered that they wanted me to pass off their Alchemy Products as yours to sell to the sea monsters.

By giving me poor treatment intentionally, they hoped I would go to Miller to complain, and if a Legendary talked to me about it, I might have no choice but to accept.

Unfortunately, I had no intention of succumbing to that.

After I got in good with the Demigod Mosaic, Hensley even had the nerve to come out and ask if I could introduce him, which I ignored!”

”Before, they weren’t so eager for quick success, were they?” Hill asked, puzzled.

”Before, they thought there was only the path of becoming a Divine Subordinate,” Adrian explained. ”But it seems His Majesty the King showed them another path. To extend their lifespan and find their own way through the River of Time and Space. So they started to need a lot of resources.”

”Ah, I almost forgot,” Hill said, suddenly remembering. ”Now there’s no need to risk passing through the Elemental Realm anymore! Someone has taken control of the River of Time and Space, and we can bypass those turbulent flows.”

”My teacher has no intention of taking that path, but they are worried he will compete with them,” Adrian said indifferently. ”Even for deities, it’s troublesome to send someone safely through the River of Time and Space. It’s said that every 50 years, they can send out two people. And my teacher’s position with His Majesty the King is even above those two.”

”So that’s why Hensley just had such foolish behavior?” Hill laughed. ”What good does it do him to make such an awkward statement?”

”It’s just a probe to see if my teacher wants to be their enemy, no need to bother with it,” Adrian replied, holding the box heading towards the hall. ”I’ll let the teacher know and then I’ll have to go down to build the tower. You stay up here and keep the teacher company!”

”Alright,” Hill nodded.

Hill stood outside, watching Adrian leading a large group of men to the deck, ready to fly down and commence the tower construction.

When Boen passed by, Hill stopped him and handed him a box of Alchemy Potions.

Seeing Hill’s determined look, Boen could only receive them with a laugh, and then performed the Mage Ceremony in gratitude, knowing that Hill would certainly be unhappy if he acted too subservient.

Adrian, holding the blueprints and commanding the work, while Hill leaned on the ship’s railing to observe the metropolis below a little more, felt a bit despondent.
