Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 230: Chapter 49: The Scheming Elf, The Watertight Domain_2

The group of elves who stubbornly stayed in the capital finally fully understood that it was utterly impossible for Hill to come before them respectfully and allow the elves to study him.

Not everyone was entitled to use the Teleportation Array.

It was only later that Hill learned that only those registered in Saral after the national census could use the Teleportation Array.

Hill was a noble of Saral and had been registered in the records from the beginning, and he never understood why William still needed to issue a registration booklet specifically for the nobles, which was an Alchemy Product. It turned out that this object was actually a part of the Divine Artifact that controlled the Teleportation Array.

Now, the nobles were still worried about using the Teleportation Array and dared not use it. But as time passed, who else would refuse the pleasure of instant arrival?

In the future, it was very likely that the moment a child was born in Saral, their information would be recorded in the booklet.

People from other countries wanting to use the Teleportation Array would inevitably need to register their information at the Saral department specifically responsible for the Teleportation Array.

Hill remembered that it was called the Civil Affairs Department.

As the national systems became more and more perfected and the use of the Teleportation Array became more widespread, those still running in the wilderness were either from the Undead Tribe or those with ill intentions, right?

Diamant had nothing to do now and chatted gossip daily with List.

He felt that List would pay attention to the situation with the elves, so he kept bringing it up.

After all, because of the high reward offered for the elves, brave individuals had already started using the Teleportation Array to enter Hill Town just a few days ago.

List politely asked these people to leave.

Of course, their easy consent to leave was actually due to several rows of Undead with arms crossed and threatening eyes surrounding them.

List simply told them that these Undead were allies of the domain and could directly attack the enemies of the domain. Then, they obediently left.

It showed that they also knew that the elves might have ill intentions, and those conveying messages for the elves towards Hill indeed held malice.

If the Divine Formation of the domain were really deployed to discern friends from foes, they would likely be judged as enemies.

After this incident, Adrian directly activated various magic and divine arrays of the domain.

The Divine Array had existed before, but was mainly aimed at players and had no limit imposed on the people of this world.

After all, with nothing serious happening, Hill did not want most people to think that his sense of right and wrong was too biased toward the Undead Tribe.

Now was a good opportunity to take up the mantle of helping outsiders, the elves, against him, a Saral Magister.

Many people still did not understand what the result of William distributing a large number of Crystal Stones to the Undead would be.

Although William himself had reclaimed quite a bit, the base of the Undead was simply too large, and quite a lot had actually ended up in the hands of the natives.

The impact on commoners was not significant, as they might not use up to 10 Gold Coins in a year.

Low-level Professionals also used Gold Coins for their daily expenses.

But the High-level Professionals would quickly come to understand what inflation meant.

If they didn’t start making money from the players, they would eventually be dragged down.

As the value of Crystal Stones continued to decrease, Hill no longer cared about spending a little money to run the Defensive Array.

However, since no one had run it for such an extended period before, Hill did not intend to appear too exceptional.

Now was a good opportunity indeed!

List gladly activated all the arrays.

After receiving the news, Diamant from Fran’s Territory also applied to Fran, wanting to start it as well.

Once Fran agreed, and Diamant notified those still in their town, more than half of the Alchemists and Mages staying there had left within three days.

After all, once the Defensive Magic Array was activated, the basic Divine Array for discerning enemies would certainly be turned on.

Diamant cursed at List for a long while, apparently agitated by the many ill-intentioned folks lurking under his watch.

List, on the other hand, was quite pleased because Fran’s Territory had also activated its Defensive Magic Array, ensuring that Lina would stay put and not come over to plead her case.

After all, Hill’s Domain was famously strict about affiliations, and if that woman was truly concerned about being perceived as evil, she wouldn’t easily expose herself by coming to Hill’s side.

Thinking this, List sighed. Life as a Tower Spirit was tough; he was merely a spirit, yet he had to worry about his master’s capacity to handle stress.

He gently landed next to the Magical Plant, Lily of the Valley. Ever since Hill had dealt with the Wind Element majestically, the plants in the territory were growing rapidly as if they had ingested super fertilizer.

When Lily of the Valley first moved to the territory, its strength was nearly halved, but now, not only had it fully recovered, but it had also grown significantly stronger.

The reason Lily of the Valley loved to scatter seeds everywhere was that, should she choose, she could know everything each seed heard.

A natural intelligence officer, the most terrifying aspect of such Magical Plants was their lethality. The high-level Lily of the Valley in Hill’s Domain had a numbing ability so potent that even Fran was somewhat intimidated.

Adrian would even come over periodically, asking for some of its juice to make special potions.

The fauna and flora in Hill’s Domain knew that Hill valued Fran and Adrian highly and would satisfy their usual requests.

After all, both gentlemen handled matters very appropriately. They always came directly to trade when they needed something, instead of asking Hill to make the request.

And if Hill needed something from them, how could they possibly ask for compensation?

They even suspected that within ten thousand miles outside Hill’s Domain, not even a chicken or dog survived.

Fortunately, he had had the sense to sense the danger early and had defected directly to Hill; otherwise, he too might have become a trophy in the mouths of the Undead Tribe.

Feeling List’s arrival, Lily of the Valley simply extended a golden bell right in front of List.

”That’s great, the territory has launched its defensive formation, so you don’t need to look for Young Master Hill anymore,” came Boen’s father, Locke’s sincere voice.

”Alas, I was a bit too hasty recently, I seem to have made Boen upset,” Lina sighed, ”It all happened when I was with Miss Melanie, doing some inappropriate things. My own death doesn’t matter, but I can’t bring harm to my Dean and Shani!”

”For now, just don’t go to the Magic Tower anymore,” Locke said gravely, ”Your intention to send the kids to the Magic Tower has already spread. Mr. Adrian might even know about it.”

”I really have been too hasty. When Boen used to bring things back, it was always with great fanfare, everyone knew if there was any debt of gratitude owed to a Mage, he would have repaid it long ago. I was worried about trouble, he would just look out for himself, that’s why I publicly begged,” she explained.

”Boen hasn’t come back since then. He hasn’t even brought back the training resources for Dean, probably really has drifted away from us.”

”No, Boen really needs parental love. Let’s speak more warmheartedly when he comes back, cooled off. We should at least see Dean rise to the rank of Grand Knight!”

”Don’t be too demanding, he’s not beside Young Master Hill, he can’t get that much good stuff,” Locke said after a pause.

”Alas, if only we knew Young Master Hill was going to set up a town, we would have stayed,” Lina said regretfully, ”After all, only Boen would stay in the Magic Tower; it wouldn’t have affected Dean and Shani. Maybe Dean could even have become the Mayor!”

”Forget it, Young Master Hill barely interacts with Boen, let alone us mere mortals.”

List listened expressionlessly, remembering when Locke and Lina hadn’t been so biased, and Boen was their well-loved eldest son.

Yet within just a few years, it had come to this—they would now exploit Boen’s desire for parental love to favor their younger son.

Being purely rational in thought, he still couldn’t understand the emotions involved, so he never fully grasped Hill’s method of handling this family.

However, Mr. Fran sure does handle things decisively, directly throwing the taken branch of Lily of the Valley over to this family, didn’t he?

List shook his head, looking at another silver bell Lily of the Valley had replaced.

He couldn’t help thinking: The bell for contacting the branch is golden, is the silver one for seeds then?

No wonder there are so many silver bells and just a few golden ones.

”Doesn’t Polanio’s Territory have plants that can be used?”

Elf language? List was shocked to hear that. Were they already near Hill’s Domain?
