Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 209: Chapter 39: The Portal Opens: The Abyssal Gate_2

”So, what does Wenjian plan to do?” Rain Falling on Mortal Dust couldn’t help but ask, ”You must have a focal point, right? Are you heading south or what?”

”Huh?” Wenjian’s member sounded bewildered, ”Why should we care? Every school has its own preferred destination, they can go wherever they want!”

Snow Cloud Peak let out a heavy sigh, ”Help me say something on your clan’s channel, just tell them, please request the schools that are on good terms to take missions in the same location.”

He looked at Rainfall and the others who were watching him and raised his hand, ”If any of you can prevent National University and Star University from fighting at one place, you can manage it. Anyway, I’m not capable of doing that.”

”Who lumped all the universities together on one planet? They’re mad,” Rain Falling on Mortal Dust turned his head, saying helplessly, ”Why don’t they go out and start their own clans instead of staying in Wenjian? The Young Master here is from the Art Department; who can he manage?”

”Exactly because he can’t manage anyone, all the folks from University Town joined!” Someone from Wenjian shouted from below, ”What if different clans start fighting when they are separated? It’s so much better in one clan, at worst, they just have a war of words!”

”The Young Master said, it’s the teachers from University Town’s idea,” Snow Cloud Peak said in resignation, ”Either they don’t play, or they stick together, and if anyone dares to start a school war, their internet will be cut off directly.”

At that moment, everyone suddenly fell silent, uttering not a word.

Hill knew that they all had attended university as well. The person who issued such an order could even be one of their teachers, and if that backfired on them, it would be quite amusing.

Snow Cloud Peak, having thrown down the gauntlet, coughed a few times for appearance’s sake and continued to ask, ”Did she mention Mr. Adrian at all?”

”Adrian is with them! He released a large-scale Purification Array, complete with a pool, which is quite helpful.

Priests have also cast plenty of Holy Rain in it, so people can drink the water for detoxification,” was the reply.

Fran glanced at Hill, and Hill quickly smiled back at him.

Hill had never quite felt at ease, always feeling unsafe, hence he rushed to produce this Purification Array, a fountain made by Shell manufacturing—with a large capacity and strong Purification Detox capability, but it couldn’t be stored in a spatial storage.

Adrian originally didn’t want to bring it, but Hill persisted, and Adrian thought since he wouldn’t have to carry it himself, he decided to take it along.

And look, it’s come in handy now! So it’s true that it’s good to be prepared.”

Hill nodded in satisfaction.

Fran looked down at Srei’s shop and turned to ask Hill, ”Have you opened up a high-level shop for them?”

”They’re going south to build a city and need some high-level items,” Hill said with a smile, glancing at Snow Cloud Peak, whose face was full of eagerness.

He really wasn’t hiding his thoughts at all; he was just trying to curry favor with Fran by asking about Adrian.

Fran smiled; he didn’t dislike the ambitious member of the Undead Tribe at all, but rather enjoyed such a straightforward way of interacting.

After pondering for a few minutes while touching the ring on his hand, Fran went straight into Srei’s little shop.

Snow Cloud Peak, who was usually slow in his actions, reacted exceptionally quickly and almost followed right behind Fran into the store.

Hill followed closely too, hearing a few players who had been paying attention to this area softly cursing at Snow Cloud Peak.

Fran was a person who clearly distinguished rewards from punishments; he would surely offer them some good items, and Hill had already heard the cheers coming from below.

Old Cat came out dragging his feet as if he’d been tortured to death, clutching a tablet and fiddling with the settings while cursing under his breath.

Hill glanced at the second floor of the Lord’s Mansion, and the few people who remained there were already standing at the window watching Old Cat, knowing that in the domain, only this member of the Undead Tribe knew how to operate the giant screen.

Old Cat slouched on the bench in front of the Lord’s Mansion, his hands never stopping, until he finally chose a live stream and displayed it on the giant screen.

It was an acquaintance, Witness.

He was squatting on top of the city wall, watching the black mass of the Demon Army rushing toward the wall outside.

There was no battle cry before the siege; all sorts of Demons charged at the city walls from every direction.

For the first time, Hill saw the true power of this world’s Great Wall.

It wasn’t just Border City that raised the glow of a Defensive Shield.

The long city walls that extended on either side of Border City were also shining with a silver glow.

In this moment, the southern border wall of Cortez had become a unified whole.

The Defensive Magic Array, emitting silver light, wasn’t the strongest in defense, but it allowed for attacks from within outward.

Once it turned gold, they could only watch the enemy attack.

The Defensive Magic Array on The Great Wall of the kingdom doesn’t usually employ gold.

The advantage of the Undead People’s overwhelming numbers was undoubtedly revealed at this moment.

From the cameras flying in the sky, pulling up, one could see the knights in the front row of the wall, without any gap, had already raised their lances.

Hill didn’t know how the players coordinated their command, but as soon as the Demon Army appeared a kilometer outside the city walls, they were skewered on the ground by lances raining down from the sky.

After three rounds of lances flying past, the vanguard of the Demon Army disappeared by half.

Hill held his breath, which he finally began to relax slowly.

Old Cat, below, fiddled for a while, and five live broadcasts were simultaneously displayed on the fan-shaped screen.

Three were in Border City, and two were on the middle section of the wall.

The number of the amassed Demon Army was indeed terrifying.

If relying only on the wall’s self-defense, it might only last three days.

Hill exhaled slowly, thankful for the Undead Tribe.

He silently congratulated himself again, thankful for awakening the Wind Element early to patch up a deficiency caused by the missing world rules.

The demons seemed to realize that they would have a hard time taking down any section of the wall with their scattered forces.

The demons, who had been rampant in their numbers, finally suffered due to their lack of manpower.

Hill slowly flew into Fran’s room and saw his maternal grandfather had directly returned to the Lord’s Mansion from the back door and was already seated by the window.

He instinctively found a comfortable sofa to sit on and listened to the players’ explanations downstairs.

”That really fat one, that’s a Quasai Demon, right? So ugly, bat wings, a donkey with four arms?

Shit, they have another mouth on their belly?

Why didn’t they just kill it outright, it’s so disgusting!”

”That’s a High-level Demon, how could it die as quickly as a minion! Those pincers! Fuck! Lucky I never saw such a thing when eating crabs!”

”Shut up! If you can’t talk properly, get the hell out! If I can’t eat crabs anymore because of you, I’ll drag you into the arena!”

Hill watched as Fran took out paper and pen to record the players’ conversation and asked softly, ”Do you want the Undead Tribe to write it down?”

Fran shook his head, ”Such creatures, one would feel that evil and chaos just by seeing them; it’s best not to leave images.”

”The Undead Tribe will definitely record it,” said Hill worriedly.

”Then it’s a matter of whether His Majesty the King can control it,” Fran said coldly, ”List, make sure that no such images appear in Hill’s territory.”

”What about your territory? Should List inform your Tower Spirit? The Undead Tribe also frequents your area.”

”Those few downstairs, it’s about time they left,” Fran said with a sneer, ”The knowledge of the Undead Tribe all comes from His Majesty the King, those with a bit of self-respect should know there’s no need for further research.”

”It was just a formality anyway!” Hill said indifferently, ”Inviting them here was also just to serve as a witness, to indeed show that we have shared everything.

If the research from His Majesty the King’s side is not faster, they should go back and ask their Temple.”

Fran shook his head slightly, ”The pace of research from those masters has slowed down these past few days, probably for fear of falling into depravity.

I’ve instructed Marsha to take them out for Purification on time every day.

But they’ve been gone for half a day each time.

Those who came to spy are also a bit shaken, probably feeling there’s no progress and are thinking of leaving.

After today, someone will probably come to say goodbye tomorrow.”

”Just forget about those masters, they all belong to Saral. What about the others? Will they go back to their own countries?” Hill asked curiously, ”Do they dare to leave?”

”How could they possibly leave Saral, they would likely head south to observe the war situation,” Fran said with irritation, ”Remember to instruct the Undead Tribe to keep an eye on them.”

”Yes, Grandfather.”
