Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 228: Chapter 48 The Elf Who Wants to Meet Hill_2

Hill decided not to use this tortoise shell, he absolutely did not dare to casually move this half-wall-high golden transparent tridacna shell.

Calling List out cheerfully, Hill completely missed List’s peculiar gaze, merely instructing him to quickly register the materials and move other elemental materials to their designated warehouse before he went upstairs happily.

With the flowers of the Crystal Flower available for making tea, Hill estimated his Hydro-wood System qualifications would greatly improve.

Hill didn’t care if this was the goal of the world’s consciousness, letting him save time and quickly perfect the Wind Series rules.

With the benefits in hand, who cares about the rest!

Back at his own Magic Tower, Adrian had Tower Spirit Mont summon Boen.

Looking up at the tall young man who entered, he finally felt like a long time had passed.

The awakened Hill, always presenting as a youthful figure, made Adrian somewhat overlook that young boys change a lot once they become adults.

”Good day, Mr. Adrian,” Boen greeted, bowing his head.

”Once the demon invasion ends, I will spend some time at the King’s Academy in the Royal Capital, and you will come with me to be a teacher, which will suit you well,” Adrian said bluntly, ”I’ve told Hill that you could definitely become an Archmage, so don’t let him down.”

”Yes, Mr. Adrian,” Boen quietly lowered his head, his eyes becoming slightly moist, ”I will handle the transfer matters well.”

”These apprentices were all trained by you, so discuss directly with Mont about who among them is suitable to take over,” Adrian said very directly, looking at the somewhat excited Boen, ”The main thing is to sort out your family affairs, Magician, you must clear up your resentments and affections.”

Boen bowed his head in silence, and after a long while, he said, ”I will handle it. Please don’t tell Hill; it would only make him worry for no reason. It was he who initially advised me to hold back more, but I, getting carried away with familial love, forgot.”

Adrian nodded, ”I won’t say anything. But the teacher already knows, and he might not keep it from Hill.”

Boen pursed his lips, bowed to Adrian before leaving, and then turned and exited the room.

Adrian shook his head and sat down.

He had never understood Hill’s attitude toward Boen before—caring deeply, yet only watching from a distance.

Now he understood a bit better; Boen was someone deeply driven by emotion.

Just like Hill once said, a child neglected by parents either becomes like Hill, clear and straight in all his dealings, settling his grudges and moving on, or becomes like Boen, craving more from the slightest attention.

Fortunately, Boen wasn’t completely foolish; after all, he was someone who had struggled to become a Magician despite inadequate qualifications—his mind was sharp, and once he came to his senses, nothing could stop his progress.

But Lina’s requirements were too much; even as a common Magician, Boen couldn’t provide for her. If he still stayed by Hill’s side, watching what could easily be obtained, Adrian could not be sure if Boen could maintain his state of mind.

Adrian felt Hill, though naive, had the Natural Consciousness with him, making choices that rarely went wrong. That was enough.

Adrian’s judgment about Hill’s naivety was something Hill did not know, so he also did not realize he had lost the chance to vehemently protest, burying himself in the task of perfecting the Wind Series rules.

Even after Fran had perfected all the factory facilities and William’s people had come to visit and purchase, he had no idea.

Fran, having sold the blueprints for a good price and knowing Hill was again engrossed in studying spells, did not allow List to notify Hill. He took the exhausted Adrian, left behind a prototype of the factory, waved his hand, not taking a single cloud with him as he returned home.

Hill joyfully worked out another part of the Wind Series rules, developed the most basic form of the Wind Blade Magic, and decided to rest a bit to clear his mind before proceeding.

As he soaked in the bathtub, seeing List silently appear, he felt very annoyed: ”What is it now?”

”Mr. Fran and Mr. Adrian have already left.”

”Why didn’t they call me?”

”Mr. Fran did not want this to affect your cultivation. He said he wasn’t going far, so why should you bother to see him off?”

Hill helplessly patted the water, ”Alright. What else is there?”

”The blueprints for the Alchemy Factory had already been sold to His Majesty the King’s men, Mr. Fran left the crude prototype at the Lord’s Mansion.”

”What can be done with it?”

”There are two production lines; one can make Intermediate Life Potions, the other can make simple armaments and armor. However, they require control by Magic Apprentices, and the use of Puppets is also high.

If completely automated, it can only produce Low Rank items.”

Hill waved his hand: ”Low Rank materials might as well be sold to those Undead Tribe members who require skill proficiency. Ask the few in the domain if they want to rent the factory production line.

I remember they like making furniture and such, which can be done on those Alchemy Equipment production lines. You can modify it, right, List?”

”No problem.” List considered for a moment, ”But I predict that the clan leaders of the Alliance families will be more interested.”

Hill submerged himself in the water and gently blew on the water’s surface: ”If anyone asks, just say it’s a discount for the residents of the domain. If people really keep coming to you, you can justifiably double the rent.”

No wonder Fran didn’t refuse to use the materials from Hill’s Domain for the production line, Hill sighed, another red packet from a senior.

”The man from His Majesty the King, when he came, mentioned that someone at the Sorcerer Tower was inquiring about you.”

Hill nodded: ”Unless it’s Legendary, I’m not interested in contacting them.”

”The one from the Mage Association seemed not very friendly towards Saral,” List said slowly. ”He deliberately mentioned in front of the Elves that you are a Nature Warlock who can awaken Treants.”

Hill sneered: ”Those Elves want to find me?”

”Yes, after knowing you have Elven blood, they sent word for you to visit them in the Capital.”

”Ignore them.” Hill got up and dressed in his pajamas, ready to get a good night’s sleep, ”Send the Treants back to the valley and tell them trouble might be coming. If any uninvited guests show up, just activate the Isolation Magic Array. I’m not interested in meeting outsiders.”

”Yes, sir.”

Hill was right in his estimates. Initially, the Elves could still console themselves that Hill had not been informed while he was in seclusion, but once they learned that Hill was in his domain’s small town, joyfully watching the Undead Tribe’s battle videos from Noah, they realized this Human Warlock, despite having a part of Elf blood, did not admire the Forest of the Elves.

There were always humans in the world envious of the Elves’ longevity, eager for something to extend life, plenty were willing to run errands for the Elves.

Unfortunately, once Hill knew the Elves were interested in him, he activated the Isolation Array, including in his domain’s small town.

To enter his domain, one must either have permission to use the Teleportation Array or try to gather information from Mr. Fran.

As for Fran, he wouldn’t even meet these people who came to trouble his grandson.

In this world, only those who dare to be rude to Mr. Fran are themselves Legendary.

They wanted to find trouble in Fran’s small town, but Adrian immediately called a large group of the Undead Tribe, who followed them around every day.

By now, everyone knew the Undead Tribe’s tablets could record videos, Hill’s outings were exposed through them; he’d gotten used to being filmed whenever he went out.

These people dared not cause trouble under such broad daylight, in full view of everyone, when someone could be recording at any time.

Hill did not know what those people and the Elves were fussing over, but as long as they did not interfere with him directly, he could pretend to be oblivious.

The only thing he was somewhat worried about was his grandmother.

Although Mr. Fran described this lady as a brisk and efficient character, the life of a Half-Elf did not seem very comfortable, and it was unclear whether his grandmother might be under the control of the Forest of the Elves.

But after several inquiries, Fran didn’t seem to care.

Hill meticulously found all the books describing the Forest of the Elves but also could not determine his grandmother’s status, letting Fran remain so assured.
