Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 213: Chapter 41 The Appearance of the First Traitor_2

No, there was another possibility. Hill looked down at the players below spitting and arguing, thinking that some deities had probably already blocked Saral’s calls for help, right?

”What are the demons waiting for?” The Witness who had been introducing for quite a while had nothing left to say, as the video remained on the succubus.

Soon, it was clear what the demons were waiting for.

Everybody knew that the first wave of attackers were being sent to their deaths, and even demons were not willing to throw their lives away for nothing.

So, after a standoff for some time, the result was that hundreds of thousands of Original Demons, along with Coward Demons, under the escort of the stronger Kwazai Demons, advanced toward the city walls.

”Alright, the first wave is a large, medium, and small vomiting group attacking,” said the Witness, listlessly. ”I hope this time it takes out those Kwazai Demons too.”

The players who had been lounging on the city walls began to stand up one after another, forming several rows of mages behind the knights, who were standing rigid in their armor.

Fran sighed lightly; they had found out that becoming a mage wasn’t an easy profession in the Undead Tribe either, perhaps only one in a hundred people could become one.

But regardless of the odds, when applied to the enormous population of the Undead Tribe, it still represented a number that made the mages of this world stare in disbelief.

Every 30 seconds, magic wands raised caused a relentless blizzard to fall outside the city walls.

Six rows of mages casting spells in relay turned the area a hundred meters beyond the walls into a complete whiteout.

The Kwazai Demons, seeing the cannon fodder nearly used up, planned to turn around and retreat.

However, cloaked in a robe and hood, a mage standing honestly at the very back row beckoned forth a row of Space-Time Dragons, and the long-awaited spatial slicing ultimate move was released mercilessly, cutting the Kwazai Demons to pieces.

Hill found it strange; weren’t these people hiding for a surprise attack later on? Why had they revealed themselves so early?

”Was the spy found?” Fran asked softly. ”I wonder who could be that foolish.”

Hill cocked his head to look at his all-knowing grandfather. When had Fran become so close to William?

”His Majesty the King’s Alchemy Factory is very much to my liking,” Fran didn’t need to look to know that Hill’s face was certainly full of confusion. ”The ideas he proposed have inspired me as well. His Majesty the King is very generous, not minding at all the resources wasted in my laboratory, and even before I’ve run out, he immediately sends more.”

Because he had already become a deity, Fran retained all his memories, right? Hill was extremely envious; if it weren’t for always building bridges and houses in his Mental Sea, he’d forget all about water downpipes and electrical circuits, although he firmly remembered the ratio for concrete—pointless in this world.

Moreover, Hill glanced at Fran, thinking this must be what a tech mogul dazzled by a generous benefactor looked like, right?

Hill actually thought it was more likely the intention of the God of Time and Space. Only those moguls accustomed to squatting in their labs, scrimping on funds, knew how to make someone like Fran work earnestly and sincerely.

He looked again at Fran, who was indifferent. Since it was a matter both sides were happy with, Hill didn’t need to worry too much.

The total annihilation of the cannon fodder was expected by the demons, but the fact that not a single high-level Kwazai Demon survived still caused quite a stir among them.

The current situation was that they had to either all go up or send none of their mages.

But to all go up, someone had to lead the charge, and it seemed no demon was willing to do that.

”What are you thinking about?” muttered the Witness. ”Don’t be scared! Come on! Whip out your little scourge and see which side will be touched by this stroke of love!”

Hill quickly glanced at Fran and noticed he had already become fully immune to the Undead Tribe’s nonsense, able to bow his head and recopy the demon knowledge he had just recorded while tuning them out.

”The spy has been caught!” shouted the voice of the Undead Tribe from below.

”Who is it? I can’t imagine who could be so stupid to be around William.”

”Remember that enchantress, Ms. Cassel? One of her four male pets.”

”Who? I have no impression of them!”

”It’s the one from Old King’s mistress that Hill originally sent from Haifasar. Didn’t she provide the evidence to William? From the Cortez Royal Family, that one!”

Hill froze. How had this gotten traced back to him again?

”Is it that old witch who always flirts with William?” a girl’s voice came through. ”I remember Hill once called her Grandma Cassel, didn’t he? That video is still up on the forum!”

”William got so annoyed with her later,” she bragged about her minor achievements every day and kept bothering him, wait, hey, Old Cat, have you seen that video where William plays dumb and asks her how old she is? Play it for us to see, since the demons haven’t attacked yet!”

Old Cat didn’t make a sound, but the live stream in the top left corner and the constantly changing screens all indicated he knew where to find it.

First to appear was Hill, standing there, sternly facing Cassel with a seductive figure and a melancholy face, and saying seriously, ”Grandma Cassel, I’m sorry, but I’m still young, please keep your distance.”

Watching the edited video, Hill felt suffocated. Those extra two lines, he had no idea from which conversation they were cut, but they really managed to match the lip movements.

Fran was quite interested, even casually crossing his legs.

The people below laughed heartily, and Hill could feel many eyes looking up at him.

He leaned back slightly, his hand itching to close the window.

Luckily, Old Cat knew his boss was watching and quickly switched to William.

This must have been in the Cortez Palace, the scene shot from the grand open palace doors.

William was lazily lounging on the throne, receiving visitors.

A sudden whistle blew, and Cassel walked in, dressed in the garb of the Undead Tribe.

It was an outfit that not even the boldest girls of the Undead would dare wear publically; basically, only those who had undergone a gender transformation dared to strut about in it.

The top was like a bellyband, with nothing but a thin strap around the neck, and the back completely bare.

The skirt on the lower half was practically a thin triangular veil, held up by a golden chain wrapped around the waist.

The camera panned from left to right, almost letting you feel the stunned admiration of the person filming.

Quickly it switched to a close up of William’s face, which showed no sign of astonishment; the look he gave Cassel was almost like seeing a posturing, flirting gorilla.

Fran chuckled quietly, and Hill, curious, looked over, moving his chair next to Fran’s.

”His Majesty the King is a deity now. He looks at the soul of a person, not the outward appearance.”

Hill glanced sympathetically at the William on screen; poor guy!

Maybe William would’ve preferred seeing a gorilla!

”Master Cassel,” said William expressionlessly, ”I have always been curious, who is older between you and the late King Saral? How old are you, exactly? There’s no need for secrets, right?”

Cassel, with sultry, silken eyes and a smiling face, stiffened for a full minute before impolitely turning and walking away.

As laughter and stomping sounds rose from below, Hill couldn’t help but mutter, ”Ah, maybe the lady’s betrayal is understandable?”

Then Fran tapped him lightly on the head.

As the camera switched back to the central screen with the battlefield, the Witness also seemed to be talking about the matter: ”It’s actually quite normal for Ms. Cassel to betray. After all, she’s not even 100 years old, how could she possibly be compared with Saral who was over 200 years old?”

The Witness couldn’t help but laugh, ”Perhaps the impression left by the two idiotic kings of Haifasardo was too deep? Let’s not talk about her anymore, let’s leave some dignity for the dead.”

Hill was surprised; had she been executed? Then Cassel must have done more than just betray William and pass messages to the Noble Temple.

Fran furrowed his brow: ”She must have been trying to make that disgusting Youth Potion again!”

A Youth Potion with the blood of virgins as the main ingredient?

Wasn’t that the evil concoction that all temples worked together to destroy? How did Cassel know the recipe for something even Fran didn’t know?

”Most royal families have records of it,” Fran explained to Hill directly, ”but they dare not take lives. Haven’t you seen no princess from Saral dares to stay in the country?”

”Stop thinking about it, or else there wouldn’t be so many coming through the Abyssal Gate. Demons are on the move,” Fran tapped the table with his finger.
