Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2166: Fighting for love (13)

The screams made Zimu and his group stop in their tracks, all turning their heads back.

Although the voice had been distorted, they still recognized it as their companionʼs cry.

Ambushed?

Several guards immediately moved a few steps toward the direction of the scream, but they quickly stopped because Zimu did not move.

”Your Highness?!”

Zimu slightly lowered his head, entering a state of hesitation.

In his heart, the life or death of a single guard was unimportant. It was not as important as the renegade dragon they were tracking, nor even as important as the act of practicing itself. Given his status as a prince of the Huoʼer Star people, only a great expert could make him compromise to a certain extent.

Now, that guard had definitely been attacked. Should he go back to save him? Or continue tracking the renegade dragon, which was already within close reach? Zimu was not a fool, so he naturally would not say something like ʼthe guardʼs life is unimportantʼ in front of everyone. But he needed to find a reason to convince the others.

”The sound should carry far. The chief guard should be able to hear it, too,” Zimu said, looking at everyone.

The expressions of the remaining guards immediately turned sour. They understood His Highnessʼs implication.
Seeing the guardsʼ expressions, Zimu felt a slight regret. He had come to the Novice hunting ground to make a name for himself. If unfavorable talk about him spread after they returned, that was not what he wanted. In the past, he would not have worried so much and would have just issued the order directly. But now, reputation, fame, and renown were the most important things to him, followed by that very valuable renegade dragon.

The confidant, observing Zimuʼs expression, knew what his master was thinking and immediately said from the side, ”Your Highness, how about this: leave two people to go with us to catch the renegade dragon, and have the others go over there to see what happened, and also find the chief guard and have him come to rejoin us.”

This was a compromise solution, though not the best one, but both the guards and Zimu himself could accept it.

”Alright, letʼs do that. When you see the chief guard, report the situation to him here. Also, some injuries are inevitable when going out to hunt, but this time, the treatment costs for the brothers will be covered by me.”

Hearing Zimu say this, the guardsʼ expressions softened. They gave a slight bow to express their thanks, then left two people behind. The others immediately ran toward the direction of the scream.

Zimu looked at them for a moment, then turned away and led his people in pursuit of the white shadow, which was now very close.

At that moment, he still did not know how wrong his choice was, a choice driven by the thought brought about by the class distinctions within his race.

Three guards shuttled quickly through the dense forest. Whenever an oblivious mutated plant or animal stood in their way, they would cut it apart with a single slash.

The six people had an extremely good relationship. For at least most of the year, they trained together, endured hardship and sweated together, studied and trained together, and even ate and lived together. They had a great understanding with one another, which was why, although none of the six had reached the realm of great experts, they could join hands to fight against a great expert.

Now, one of their good brothers was in an unknown state of life or death. How could they not be anxious?

After sprinting at high speed for a while, the three guards vaguely saw a human-shaped object lying in the bushes not far away.

It was Xie Pi!

One guard softly called out his companionʼs nickname. The three separated tacitly, maintaining a certain distance from each other, forming an arc, and approaching their companionʼs position.

Although they were worried about their companion, their good combat training told them there was very likely danger nearby.

Drawing closer, the three saw a sight that made their eyes burn with rage.

Their companion lying there had clearly lost his life, and his death was extremely tragic. Not only had one of his legs been cut off, but there was also a horrific, fatal wound on his neck. The weapon had exploded energy as it stabbed through there, forming a terrifying blood hole. The wound had already stopped bleeding, indicating he had been dead for some time.

From the time they separated to the sound of the scream, combined with their current position, a bad feeling rose in the hearts of the three. This meant their companion, after being suddenly attacked here and screaming, had been killed within a very short time.

The three looked at each other from their short distances. None of them spotted any danger nearby. One remained in place on alert, while the other two slowly approached the corpse. After a simple examination, they could not say for certain whether the killer was someone from the ten thousand races of the universe or a mutated creature living here.

If it was someone from the cosmic races, why had they not taken their companionʼs equipment? There was a Red Condensation-grade piece, and the space equipment had also not been touched.

But if it was not someone from the cosmic races but a mutated life, which species could it be? Within the sphere of influence of these flying lives, the ground-dwelling mutated lives had basically all been killed off. Which super level-nine existence would occupy this area as its territory?

After thinking for a while without any leads, they stopped trying to rack their brains. One of them picked up the corpse, and they continued in the direction of the chief guard.

But after only taking a dozen or so steps, the guard carrying the corpse suddenly cried out, ”Ah!” and threw the corpse away, at the same time shouting, ”Poison!”

The other two immediately looked back and saw that their companionʼs hands had turned a bluish-purple, and even his face had a somewhat ashen pallor. He had clearly been poisoned, and with a strange poison.

The two immediately moved toward their companion while taking medicine out of their space equipment.

These were essential when they went out on missions. Although this poison was potent, taking the antidote should protect his life. Even if it could not cure him, it would at least allow the poisoned person to return to the clan, where a solution could eventually be found.

But the second unexpected thing happened.

The corpse hit the ground with a peng and then suddenly exploded. From inside, it burst countless fine metal needles, covering the entire surrounding area.

The three guards, caught off guard, were all hit.

The guard who had already been poisoned was closest to the corpse and received the most metal needles. Caught completely off guard, he was shot full of holes with no defense, dying instantly.

The other two guards were slightly farther away and did manage to react, but there were too many metal needles. Many struck them, and they were instantly severely wounded.

The power of the Stacked Bow was not just empty talk!

Footsteps came from ahead. The two severely wounded guards barely stood, stuffed healing potions into their mouths, and gripped their weapons, waiting for the despicable person to appear.

They could be certain that the cosmic races had set this trap for them, and they had swallowed all these not-so-complicated schemes and tricks.

Ye Zhongming walked over somewhat unsteadily. Seeing what had happened here, he smiled and then tossed an object in his hand in front of the two still-living guards.

”Ah! Chief guard!”

It was a head—the chief guardʼs head.

Seeing their leaderʼs head, the two severely wounded guards were distracted. They did not notice a mechanical war beast leaping out from behind them.

Ye Zhongming averted his gaze. This place no longer deserved his attention, because the battle would soon be over.

What remained was up to White Robe and Jie Su.
