Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2122: Formation buff

Having decided on a matter that the Star-Eye Clan considered far more significant than the Planet Hunting Ground, the clan suddenly seemed to have gained a clear objective.

The ordinary warriors did not yet know what was happening; they only sensed that the higher-ups carried a mix of pride, apprehension, anticipation, and a faint, barely perceptible murderous intent in their expressions.

They did not know why, but they could feel that something major was about to unfold.

”Zhongming, these are all formations set up by the Su Clan over there. Don’t damage them,” White Robe said, squatting on the ground and speaking casually with Ye Zhongming.

This was a sign of their closeness—not losing their ease with each other despite what they had done for one another, yet ready to step forward and sacrifice themselves when needed.

”Have I ever messed up?” Ye Zhongming chuckled.

”Can we not brag?” White Robe shot him a look.

Ye Zhongming continued setting up the formation while explaining, ”Su Clan formations have a hierarchy. As long as you don’t disrupt the formation’s lines and its core, you can layer them on top. However, when activating them, you can only activate one at a time. If you activate multiple simultaneously, only the highest-ranked formation will take effect.”

He placed various materials down methodically. Anyone watching would have thought he was a Su Clan member.

White Robe had little interest in formations themselves; he only cared whether they would be useful against enemies.
He glanced up at the towering Kepaisi Sky Cover, always regarding that completed giant structure with a sense of awe.

Occasionally, a beam of light would shoot out from above, triggered when a mutated lifeform entered the Sky Cover’s range and came under attack.

It was said that on the day it was completed, the Sky Cover’s attacks were not even at full power—barely at thirty percent…

After learning that, White Robe gained an even deeper appreciation for why Ye Zhongming had insisted on choosing the Overlapping Water Dead Zone.

With such a powerful weapon, there was truly nothing to fear. Its value was certainly not less than one of the Su Clan’s Ten Great Formations—the kind of authentic formation, set up by Huo Zhi or the Su Clan leader, capable of unleashing near-perfect power.

”I don’t understand half of what you’re saying. Just tell me—you’ve been busy for nearly a full day, skipped several hunting expeditions, and what’s the point of setting up all these formations?”

To outsiders, White Robe had a fiery temper, always ready to fight to the death. When alone, he would be exceptionally quiet, reading, training, or lost in thought. When with true friends, he was informal and occasionally playful.

This was not due to some split personality but rather a necessity given the Star-Eye Clan’s past circumstances. At times, White Robe had been forced into that role.

Now, with Ye Zhongming around and the various events of these days, the Star-Eye Clan was steadily improving, and the burden on White Robe’s shoulders had gradually lightened.

As a result, his long-suppressed nature was starting to emerge.

In battle, he was still the same madman, but at other times, he was increasingly just White Robe.

”How have the gains been?”

Instead of answering the question directly, Ye Zhongming asked about the hunting results over the past two days.

Perhaps the mutated lifeforms had been frightened during the landing battle, but after that engagement, they had not launched any large-scale attacks against the two hundred thousand people on the Overlapping Water Dead Zone. Only scattered lifeforms had harassed the camp via the narrow paths, causing no real trouble.

This calm was rare. Over the past two days, the warriors from the various clans, now settled, had organized several hunting expeditions. Although the gains were modest, it was largely due to the small scale of the sorties. The Star-Eye Clan had also joined in, with some results.

”Not bad. Over by the Half-Abyss Demon Cave, there’s been no activity. We went out once with the Su Clan, and once from the Long River Alluvial Plain side. But you know our Star-Eye Clan is strong in raids but lacking elsewhere. We had to coordinate with other races. The gains were modest—once all costs were deducted, just a slight profit.”

White Robe’s expression grew serious. He sensed that the formation Ye Zhongming was setting up was nearing completion, as energy began to seep outward.

”The Half-Abyss Demon Cave side is truly worrying,” Ye Zhongming said, his gaze fixed ahead but with a hint of concern in his voice.

That area had remained quiet. For days, the parasites that should have been inside seemed to have vanished entirely, nowhere to be seen.

White Robe nodded. Since there was no prey on that side, they could only hunt in the other three directions, which always felt a bit improper.

”We should keep an eye on it. In a few days, let’s organize an expedition to scout it out.”

White Robe nodded at this, then asked again, ”You still haven’t told me what these formations do.”

Ye Zhongming placed the last piece of material into the formation’s core. A faint humming sound emerged, and the formation’s lines pulsed like breathing, glowing a few times before fading away.

This was a sign of successful deployment.

”I’ve set up three formations in total. The first one is actually something the Su Clan already has, but with slight modifications.” Ye Zhongming packed up the remaining materials and explained to White Robe.

”Once activated, it will enhance the defensive attributes of our warriors’ metal gear. After my modifications, it’s about ten percent stronger than the original Su Clan version.”

This modification was naturally not Ye Zhongming’s own work but the Library Palace’s. It was not the type that integrated the controller’s energy into the formation but a traditional enhancement.

White Robe’s eyes lit up. This formation would undoubtedly provide better protection for everyone.

”The second one is an attack-assist formation. It requires some adaptation, so later, everyone will need to practice fighting within it.”

Ye Zhongming gestured to roughly indicate the formation’s range.

”This attack-assist formation increases our attack speed by about twenty percent. Whether wielding weapons, throwing punches, or using skills, everything will be faster than usual. So we need to get used to it in advance to avoid fumbling when it matters.”

This formation was one the Su Clan already possessed—a medium-sized formation that Ye Zhongming had acquired using Purple Luo Zinc.

”The one I just set up—that one is my specialty.”

Seeing Ye Zhongming’s expression, White Robe smiled.

”A healing formation. It can treat injuries on our side within its range… any kind of injury. Warriors don’t need to stay still or meditate; they can do anything. Its effect is roughly equivalent to the best instant trauma medicine in our clan.”

White Robe’s mouth fell open. After a long pause, he finally said, ”This formation… did you also get it from those ancient texts in the Library Palace?”
