Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2109.5- Taking risks for maximum profit

“I have two choices here.”

Ye Zhongming opened his planet map and clicked on two locations, which were immediately marked in green.

The Su Clan’s staff officers were watching from behind and were the most angered by Ye Zhongming’s earlier words; it would not be an exaggeration to say they were filled with righteous indignation.

But they were also the most familiar with this planet. Upon seeing the two markers, they immediately knew where they were, and their expressions turned serious.

“The first place I chose is here. The name marked in the information is Waveside Lake.”

As Ye Zhongming spoke, the topography of Waveside Lake immediately appeared on the light screen.

“This place has the Sunshadow Lake at its back, Blue Raindrop Shrubland to its left, Reclining Halberd Hills to its right, and Shengda Canyon in front.”

After Ye Zhongming finished, many people had already reviewed the information. Their first impression was that this place did not seem bad, but then they all shook their heads.

“This is the place you chose?”

That elder Zhongken Su seemed to have found a breakthrough to ‘avenge his humiliation’ and said mockingly: “Bronze Order Leader, your judgment doesn’t seem very good.”
Huo Zhi glanced at that elder, the meaning clear: stop stirring up trouble; everyone should focus on discussing suitable camping locations.

“Zhongming, this place indeed doesn’t seem very suitable. Look, the Sunshadow Lake behind is quite large, and the data shows it contains a large number of aquatic lifeforms. If we set up camp here, we would definitely need to deploy heavy forces, and the formations our advantage allows in water are very few, which makes it restrictive. On both sides, whether the Blue Raindrop Shrubland or the Reclining Halberd Hills, there is no obvious advantageous terrain for defense, which would also require troop deployment for defense.”

Huo Zhi knew he had to speak now. After all, he represented the Su Clan’s interests. Regardless of how highly he personally regarded young people like Ye Zhongming, Jie Su, White Robe, and Yisewei, as the commander of the Su Clan forces, he had to voice the Su Clan’s doubts.

“More importantly, in front is Shengda Canyon. Although it seems relatively easy to defend, the canyon is over three kilometers wide, with flat terrain and no strategic points. On the other side of the canyon lies the extremely dangerous existence known as Life Parasite Number Nine Hundred, the Heavy-Armed Amphibian, a monster on par with a top-tier expert. It controls hundreds of thousands of other parasites. If it attacks the camp, even if we manage to defend, our losses will be immense.”

At the mention of the Heavy-Armed Amphibian, everyone’s expressions changed.

The cosmic races of the universe numbered parasites. Whenever a new type was discovered, it received a number, but everyone knew that certain special-numbered parasites were exceptionally powerful and dangerous.

For example, the top ten numbers, integer numbers from one hundred to ten thousand, and repeating numbers like 666 and 88 were all very distinctive and formidable. Ordinary members of the myriad races dared not provoke them.

The small clan alliance of the Star-Eye Clan currently did not even have one top-tier expert. While the Su Clan had many high-level experts, no one knew if they had any top-tier ones. Even if they did, they likely would not be a match for this monster, as the Su Clan was not known for individual strength.

Relying solely on formations to stop such a terrifying existence would likely be insufficient.

“Zhongming, this place is truly too dangerous.”

Lord Eye spoke, trying to persuade him. This place was not suitable for the Star-Eye Clan. The defensive pressure was too great, and losses would be heavy. For the Star-Eye Clan, which had deployed nearly all its forces, less than 20,000 warriors, losing several thousand would take a long time to recover from.

Ye Zhongming nodded. “I know. This place is not easy to defend. One could say enemies come from all sides. But have you seen the number of prey around here? It is three times that of the Red Grass Plain, which had the most prey among the previous three choices!

“Having many prey means nothing if you don’t survive to claim it. If you choose this place, even if the hunt is relatively successful, losing half or more of the warriors you bring—what value would those gains have then?”

A member of the Su Clan’s staff finally couldn’t help but speak.

Others agreed. Money was useless if you weren’t alive to spend it.

“If we were cooperating with other races, I certainly wouldn’t choose this place. But we are cooperating with the Su Clan. Choosing this place, full of prey, as long as we set up the formations well and do a little luring afterward, we can just wait for them to charge into the formation. We will have losses, because any battle results in deaths. But with the help of formations, the defensive pressure is far less than we imagine. As long as we hold on, our losses will definitely be within an acceptable range, and the gains will be several times greater than your best-case projections!”

Ye Zhongming stood up.

He glanced at the people from the small clan alliance beside him and said, “This time, the small clans from Dark Strip City have all come. In terms of tactical numbers, we actually aren’t much fewer than the Su Clan. Among these clans, each has its own characteristics. There are quite a few skilled in aquatic combat, and even more skilled in forest and hill warfare. With the two sides combining for 200,000 warriors, roughly the same as the troop numbers of those battle-hardened super-large clans, with the help of formations, shouldn’t we take a bit of a risk?”

“If we always seek stability and safety, how can we gain huge benefits? How can we catch up to those races that have surpassed us by an unknown margin?”

“I believe that with our planning and coordination capabilities, we can surely find a balance between loss and gain.”

Everyone fell silent for a moment. What Ye Zhongming said made some sense. High risk meant high reward; everyone understood that. It was just that when things were stable and almost guaranteed a profit without loss, no one was willing to take risks.

“I still think it won’t work. Even if we defend against attacks from the other directions, what if the Heavy-Armed Amphibian comes?”

A small clan leader bravely asked. After all, the choice of location was a matter of life and death for them. Despite their deference to the Star-Eye Clan and Su Clan, they had to voice their opinion at this time.

“I won’t answer your question first. I ask everyone: if! If we kill this powerful Number Nine Hundred parasite, how much benefit can we obtain from its body?”

Many people thought about it but could not come up with an answer. Parasites of this level were beyond their reach.

Huo Zhi estimated and said, “Just the extracted Moonspan Gold alone would be at least over a hundred million, perhaps more. And the other materials from its body would be worth tens of millions without question.”

Seeing Ye Zhongming about to speak, Huo Zhi quickly said, “If we could kill it, that would naturally be excellent. Even if we gained nothing else, it would still be a huge profit. But the problem returns to the earlier point: how do we kill it?”

Ye Zhongming replied: “There’s nothing particularly special. Formations, combined with a siege.”

Upon hearing this, everyone shook their heads collectively. What kind of answer was that? It was almost like saying nothing. Regarding the place Ye Zhongming proposed, everyone had essentially already dismissed it in their minds.

Seeing everyone’s expressions, Ye Zhongming was unsurprised and directly said, “Then let’s talk about the second option.”

As soon as everyone saw the second location, a single thought arose in their minds simultaneously: this guy talked so much earlier just to lead up to this second location, didn’t he!
